XDN is the Evolution of Content Delivery

There have been many new CDNs launched over the past five years. They generally state that they are going to revolutionize content delivery, but they usually end up following the same old model of building a cache network and selling a similar product. As a result they get into price erosion wars and have created a climate that is not healthy for the people buying their products, for themselves, and eventually the end users.

Today's CDNs scale based on creating new cache resources. They peer and buy bandwidth with singular networks, and as a result they do not harness the pre-existing resources that already exist in networks inherently. Using old CDN technology directly increases pricing due to the cost of building out the network. This cost is passed without fail to their customers and ultimately it reduces the amount of bandwidth a media company may want to use.

Naturally, this legacy model also possesses limitations in terms of network diversity, robustness and overall end-to-end performance. The centralized bandwidth procurement and operation processes allowing legacy CDNs to stretch bandwidth costs comes with a few un-necessary byproducts: last-mile blind-spots, global reach at the expense of local performance, and the relative inability to contain local outages and prevent them from spreading globally. All of the above point to a different paradigm for delivering content: distributed and yet federated, global and yet locally managed, diverse and yet unified.

We have created a patent pending content delivery technology that distributes delivery of content across unlimited numbers of providers. We tie this experience together with the XDN service.
