I Need Someone To Tell Me It's Going To Be OK

I am starting out from scratch rebuilding all my blogs on one multisite WP install.

I have only $200-300 in rebills coming in each month, looking at my stats my last new sale this year was back in January.

Is it even worth it to blog anymore? Am I working for pennies? If I can't see at least $0.50-1.00 in profit for each 50-200 word blog post I make within the first year of posting it how do I justify working in adult even if it is just extra income?

I know right now I'm going to need to get a job for the first time in 8 years but it's hard finding work when you have no skills or experience. For me it's even harder because I have U.C and when I'm on the job it's not uncommon for me to have to use the bathroom 1-2 times per hour and that's on a good day. I could qualify for government assistance because of my health but I can't do that because of the living situation I'm in right now. In a year or so my situation will be different but right now I need my own income to survive.

Lately It's really hard for me to fall asleep at night and when I wake up I feel kind of panicky.

So is the affiliate model dead or is this a hiccup?

Depending on what skills you have, if you have any academic skills.

If I ever get in financial pinches I can do Skype tutoring or do peoples' homework/quizes/tests for them ranging from $15-25 hour.
Take your own initiative on it and work just flows through craigslist and blogs you setup funneling into your service site.

There is a lot of demand for it and though I'm skilled from rudimentary math through higher levels of calculus and some differential equations, most of it is nothing beyond algebra. I mention this because it's immediate income if you need it.
75-80% is just people wanting their hw done however.

Nothing to ever brag about but if you are single it allows for an extremely flexible and jackoff schedule and easy way to make $30-40k+ a year relatively stress free, or act as supplemental.

Otherwise you'll need to have a story to tell in adult rather than just praying the search engines send strangers to your blogs.
I've got a couple of projects I'm working on that are very exciting, will be revealed within the next couple months to site owners.

No, it's in the morning. I'm a solid sleeper. It's in the morning. I wake up and instead of going back to sleep to get that extra hour I get a panic like feeling that I'm going to lose everything

Sort of like I'm starting to lose my sense of security, I have multiple health issues some of which could be solved with money but some are chronic and not going away. Then I have some dept I need to pay. I guess I should have looked for a job years ago but minimum or even twice minimum wage really doesn't pay for shit.

Sorry to hear, Mike. It's done. The paysite affiliate model is dead for most. It's gone and buried as far as being economically lucrative and an efficient use of time. The only way that will change is if something radical happens to curb the piracy but we're talking something like worldwide law changes here. A million to one shot. And even then it would take time to reverse the last six years.

The other possible boom could be if something like Paypal happens for adult or something else which allows everyone (not just selected paysites using Epoch and paying 15%) to start taking micro-transactions. Then if you can build up thousands of visitors a day you could make a lot of money. But it's not viable right now due to banking situation.

I say get a job somewhere part time for now if you can. Any job. Start something small with very low costs. Stop focusing on the paysites and start focusing on dating, cams and cpm. Try some non-adult stuff too. Maybe casual dating would be good for you? Focus on getting people in the door first to start building up.

Things are tough but they will slowly get better, I don't think sites will ever be able to inflate their prices because consumers will have trouble paying much for porn because it has been devalued.

Seems lots of folks are hurtin with the affiliate model. A couple of mine did really well this last month and even sent a couple multi-month sales that got them 32.50 a pop.

Honestly though you might want to throw some gigs up on Fiverr. I check those guys all the time and you never know, might get some steady work out of it.

No inheritance at all actually. Its just that because of my living situation I cannot get any heath assistance from the government. Not that getting it is all that great. They just give you enough to live on in a tiny apartment. I do have legitimate health issues that limit me from working any job. The only reason I can work from home is because I can stay by the bathroom.

Anyway, #1 thing to "take care of" in life is actually 3 things:

Warm
Full
Dry

So you're living at home, that takes care of 'dry' and I assume you're eating and wearing clothes. So unless any of those are about to change semi-immediately I wouldn't panic. I would set Goals.

When I started 5 years ago Adult was dying even then, a race to zero, everyone said it couldn't be done...yet I'm hanging on and actually growing. But I chose NOT to be an Affiliate but rather a Program owner. Huge differance. If I were to recommend to anyone staying in Adult it would be as an Owner.

But you have immediate concerns. But as I said, not knowing really the kind of work you are doing it's hard to give advice. But I would say do this right away, if you haven't already: find 5 people/businesses/websites in Adult you admire and know are "doing well" and making money. Then ask yourself: can I see a way of getting to where these people are? If I set a Plan can I get there? How long would it take? How much money would it take?

The end result of being your own Boss is, to put it mildly, "amazing". But it comes with amazing responibilities and almost endless head-aches, too. So, in the end you may decide to just get a telemarketing job, something where you can work from home, etc, and say fuck it to Adult. Few would blame you.

Follow your instincts Mike: if you are waking up in a panic then that's your unconscious telling you to MOVE (take action, not move out) and make a decision. I PROMISE you: once you make a decision about what you will actually do (and hopefully have a reasonable Plan to carry it through) you will feel 1000% better. Why? Because the word "decision" literally means "to cut off from", meaning once you have decided something all other options cease to exist and the overwhelming pressure you feel is instantly gone.

Adult will always be here, too, in case you're worried about "losing" something. Instead, GAIN some peace of mind, make a decision.

Mike post some examples of your blogs and your writing and maybe somebody will give you writing work. Doing blog posts for people too busy or lazy to do them themselves is a natural step from doing for your own blog posts and waiting for affiliate income to come in.

If you blog I suggest you def try mainstream and out adsense on it. Their is a really good skin developed to cater to the most adsense clicks. Google wp skin for adsense. Cars, health, natural remedies, anything. Just blog and scale it up. I would think you could easily pull in 100/day after a few months of constant updates and new blogs.

Reasonable is relative, but he does this at the moment albeit for himself and he doesn't seem to be in a position to do anything else. He just needs somebody that will pay him for his work on a piece by piece basis when he has completed it rather than the hit and miss and uncertainty that he has now of waiting to pick up affiliate sales from it.

Look at the OP, he is looking to make $0.50 to $1 per 200 word blog post. I think that is very achievable with half decent writing skills. I would probably pay that, and I never pay for anything I could do myself.

However, from what I recall of his previous posts over the years, he always seems to be asking for advice on stuff but never ever seems to listen to it, so anybody taking their time to try to hep him here is probably wasting it.

IBD and IBS are 2 totally different things. It's one of those weird medical terminologies that really screws things up. IBD is an actual disease with genetic factors involved. IBS is more of a disorder than can often be changed or least helped through diet.

People with IBD usually only see slight changes if anything with changes to their diet. There is moderate and severe versions of it. I'm somewhere in the middle so not losing my colon anytime soon.

I have colitis, when I was on meds it did little for me. When I stopped overworking myself I just got better. Stress does have a big affect on it. For some people their guts seem to take all their stress. I notice that when I am stressing that's when I start having the most problems.

I don't know much about promoting paysites but it seems only certain ones do well and there are many that just dont convert.

Have you tried promoting dating or cams? Im not saying this because we run both but because the payouts are higher and if you get a good cam whale that could easily be much more per month that all the blogs combined.

You could also take a look at promoting other things that are in more demand by promoting network offers on Clickbooth for example.

If what you're doing isnt working there's not much risk in trying something else. Just some input. best of luck

There has been a paradigm shift in SEO and Internet marketing. A blog network is not as effective as it used to be. Search engines see thin affiliates in a dim light.

Sponsors in this industry, or at least speaking for myself, want the association with affiliate sellers for reason that they can be creative in bringing new marketing of our products.

I think what we supply affiliates with "promotional content" aimed as an aid to their success but not as an end-all to their content. The Affiliate needs a value added proposition to get the SEO traffic that is profitable -- that is what an successful affiliate does -- presents value added content to a surfer and refers him via a click through to a sponsor resulting in a commission hopefully.

That is an overview of the issues and not case specific. Like they say "there is more than one way to skin a cat." (Don't report me to PETA reactionaries :D ).

Interesting point but the "banking situation" is not the problem really. Individual transaction fees are too high for micro payments.

It is possible to bypass the credit card transaction fees by creating a "wallet" with internal transfers. The real problem is FinCEN and US Treasury Department regulations -- a lot of this activity is also regulated by international treaty.

The 1st International Bank of Porn won't be opening branch offices soon ...
