I'm looking for advice to get my site off the ground

you can put banner ads in your right side bar

you can trade links with other sites too

You will need links that are related to yours. Maybe try finding some Italian adult dating sites or Italian porn blogs. You can find some more advice at MrAdultAffiliate.com.
