Do sponors work? Should I waste my time?

Do sponsors really work? I used to have a page full of sponsors that I kept in my signature and promote just a little, but I never got one cent. Not one conversion, barely any hits and no sales. Do surfers, REALLY click on the sponsors links AND is there a BRAND NEW program that isn't worn out. (You know, that surfers don't know about that much?)

Also one more question, all these cheap advertising sites, MOST of them ONLY accept Paypal, does this mean it may not be legit? I mean, do you think they use the fake software that doesn't send you hits AND how do you tell if they do?

I know I asked alot of questions, but I didn't want to post one big post.

That is how myself and thousands upon thousands of Webmasters make money.

What/who would be the "top" 5 sponsor sites. What pages on your site are best to put the sponsor banners on,to make most of the deal? And, should a sponcer site also promote your site?.

Let me see if I have this right:

1. My site is an amateur pay site, if i use "sponsors" should we use more then 1?
2. Should we place "sponser" banners on "all" of our tour pages?

3. Will the sponser sites "promote" my amateur pay site.?

4. Would it be best discribed as " I try and send my "exit" traffic to my sponser site/sites" ?

Rockstar, I don't know what ICQ is, so I am sure I don't have it, but I would love to talk with you and get tips from an experienced webmaster, like yourself. I've heard several people say that they make a living from sponsors/banners, but how is this possible? How do you get so many people to sign up at these sponsors and besides there is so much talk about sponsors that don't pay. Isn't it only a matter of time, before the good sponsors go bad? So I heard.

Man sponsors that are top of the line for one site might not work on your site. The art of advertising comes in then... I have a couple of site. One site can promot one sponsor and get lets say 50 sign ups (just saying) and the other site with the same promotion but diffrent layout could only get 1 or 2.

Sponsors are for mainly TGPs, TGP2s, CJs and CJ2s. NOT PAY SITES OR AVS SITES.

I would try a diffrent sponsor. I use tons. It's a trial and error.

Try using some of the free sites to give to your traffic. If you can give free sites away then you can use most of the paid sponsors.

I have been promoting Gamma's sites for a while now on www.eroticskins.com and I have about .48 cents in my account for the last year.

Do the math.

I have a better conversion from AVS SITES than from TGPs. Is somebody experiencing the same thing?
