Kasperksky is not free. But it is worth it. I think there is one good anti virus program. I believe it is called antivir. It is a german program.

If the infection is really that bad you might be better off taking it to a computer shop.

Look up the name of whatever is popping up on your computer and usually someone will have written a step-by-step set of instructions to get rid of it properly.

no no no no no! jesus people come on...

MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE (also known as mbam.)

Also use microsoft security essentials if you have a legit copy of windows it is free and it is very good.

don't take your pc to a shop what are you friggin kidding guys?? You will get ripped off period and they won't save your data they will almost certainly tell you it needs to be re-installed (totally wiped.) If that is the case might as well do it yourself FREE rather than pay them 100's to do an easy job.

I own a computer shop and we never rip anyone off or nuke & pave (reformat & reinstall windows) unless the customer specifically requests it. If this person was local and brought their computer in to the shop we would charge $55 and have the computer back to them the same day. What you're describing is a craigslist repair monkey or a pizza tech as we call them.

MBAM is fine for simple infections. Google rkill and run that before running MBAM to increase the chances it will be able to find and remove the infection. Combofix is pretty much the go-to tool for decent techs. It's free but will often render a computer unbootable so unless you know how to fix that a good repair shop is your cheapest and safest solution. MBAM can't fix a lot of infections, especially the ones that infect the MBR or act like a physical device. A good tech can manually remove a virus without point and click tools too.

We aren't all out to fuck you, which isn't to say none of us won't. Like any service-based business, there are good ones and bad ones. Read online reviews, ask friends who they recommend and whatever you do stay away from geek squad or any other retailer's repair service. They are overpriced and very often incompetent.

Babaganoosh is absolutely correct in what he says.
BUT

You do not mention wether your computer reboots instantly or not. Do you have time before anything appears/starts to malfunction?
If you do, the worm, malware or bug is relying on either the net or time. Before you take your computer to a shop. Unplug your computer from the Net, get the latest AVG Free version on a memory stick. Boot in Safe Mode (to get to 'Safe Mode' hit F8 when the computer is booting - before the windows xp boot screen come up (I reckon you have XP) comes up. ) Then run AVG from the stick as well as Malewarebytes.

Last but not least, If you only have this computer, borrow a clean computer and go online with it, make sure that you use a firewall. Go to your infected computer and go to START>Administrative Tools>Services
OR %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s

Go thorough the services, most have descriptions. If you see something that you don't recognize or trust, Goggle it on the On-line computer! If you don't trust the service, STOP it.
Then run AVG again..

Hi Hardchixxx,
I can't believe some of the comments on this thread. As far as infection goes, there is nothing named "free." You have to pay.

Whatever you do, do not get AVG. If you do your research, the 2 mentioned in this thread are the worst. AVG is a virus unto itself. Avast and Avira are just so-so. Meh.

Go out and get Kasperskey (just the anti-virus, not full suite / it's not needed) and piggyback that along with Malwarebytes (both) anti-exploit premium and anti-malware premium. You will be fine.

You have to pay for these things Ms. Hardchixxx. If you are in any kind of business, especially this one, you should know that.

On a side note, I worked in IT security for 6 years, non-affiliated, for a major corporation. If you simply do your research, you will find what works best. But there is no one in their right mind that expects a free program to protect them from the adult industry. That's just naiveté or plain ignorance and stupidity.
