hey! want to discuss more about hosting

Hi!
I am looking for more information on what kind of requirements do webmasters(adult) have in mind when they are looking for a web host?

I have been doing offline business for web hosting for sometime now, now I wish to expand it online!

The things which I can figure out is that in adult web world there is a high demand of bandwidth ... apart from this do webmasters have any other major requirement?
Maybe we are missing some points over this? (ofcourse ... the hosting cost can't be $0.01 a month !!)

This way maybe we can offer our services to you guys! .. keeping in mind your requirements and needs.
What say ! :D

Yes you need a lot of bandwidth and depending on what kind of loads your site will be running, you may need a powerful server.

I recommend using hostgator sharedhosting because they have unlimited bandwidth.
Sharedhosting is great for starting out and it's really cheap (about $4 a month). They have a 25 process limit though, if you have a lot of php pages/scripts and a lot of traffic then it's time to move onto a dedicated server. Although you may not have to and can stay with shared!

Other things to consider:
-uptime
-price
-technical support
-Not violating a hosts ToS

Read his post, retard. Your reply has nothing to do with what he was asking.

Hostgator sucks by the way. If you think they have unlimited bandwidth, you're a fool.

Well they claim to have unlimited, not sure of the extent of it.

It's difficult to understand exactly what he is asking. His first question is a statement and his second question is vague. It's not necessary to call me a retard, I was just trying to help.

Just to clarify for OP. Hostgator does have unlimited bandwidth, but the amount you can use is bottlenecked by other limitations. After some quick researching, I found that the maximum feasible bandwidth without exceeding other limitations on a shared server from hostgator is around 8100gb/month.

While hostgator shared hosting isn't ultimately unlimited, it is still a good starting point in my opinion.

I can get bandwidth anywhere. The most important thing for me is free technical support. I like to try new scripts from time to time. Although I know a little something something, there are still a lot of things that I don?t have the expertise in or care to learn. I need a host who will work with me on a few things.

To answer the OP's original question:

1. Support - Webmasters seem to think that hosts should be at their beck and call 24/7/365. Webmasters have come to expect support to handle even mundane tasks usually associated with managing a website like installing scripts and migrating sites. Personally I don't think a host should be responsible for anything but providing reliable, dependable service and addressing reasonable support requests but the level of support you provide is up to you. Just don't blow off support requests that are 100% in your control (e.g. db server down). Above all, address all tickets promptly.

2. Reasonable price. Don't try to gouge the customer and don't try to undercut the competition and then have to oversell servers. Your price should reflect the level of support you intend to provide. Don't try to claim unlimited bandwidth. Most experienced webmasters aren't dumb enough to believe that.

3. Dependability. Any amount of downtime is a big deal. Make sure you have an admin on call who has contact information for people in your datacenter (assuming you're going to colo).

There's nothing unclear or vague about his question. He's wanting to start providing hosting service to porn slingers. Your reply was completely off the wall and had nothing to do with his question so I assumed you were mentally deficient.

You'll find that with hostgator you'll get TOS'd if you start getting any real traffic. Their excuse will be "excessive resource usage." They'll try to move you to a VPS or a dedicated first. If you don't take the suggested upsell they will just terminate your account.

And then you misses the Mbps restriction.

Hostgattor is a very good shared hosting solution and their restrictions are not out of line with other shared hosting solutions. What do you expect for $3.00 a month? Its great to start your site, their VPS plans are competative, their support is great, load times even with heavy resource backends like Drupal are amazing, and when it is time for you to upgrade to VPS they will transfer any credit you currently have into your next tier.

I have used a ton of shared hosting solutions. Hostgattor used to be MUCH more restrictive, less power, even restrictions like max php memory limit of 64M. They have since upgraded everything and their solutions are solid. If you want more, you pay more.

As for telling people that they are mentally defective... I think it takes a certain quantity of "defective" to troll like you do, but feel free and shoot your mouth off, the smart ones know to look at the source rather then the target.

If you think hostgator is good then you too are mentally defective.

I don't think trolling means what you think it does. Being blunt != trolling. While I am being blunt, how is your private porn site going?

If you think "50-60" visitors per week is a success in either mainstream or adult then strap on your helmet and climb aboard the short bus. You're apparently trying really really super hard and that's just precious but sometime you're going to have to realize that you're in over your head.

Thanks for the valued response!
Well, I am really sorry if someone found my questions or statements vague.

So far I have found these points.

1. 24x7x365 support
2. Support for things other than just hosting
3. High bandwidth
4. High data transfer speed
5. Trust (I know it wont build overnight!)
6. Price (I didn't want it to be included here since services don't have a fixed price ... it is variable according to the service provider, but as it was mentioned by Babaganoosh.. I decided to include this )

About my service :
I am running a web hosting company for 2 months now
I want to have very few accounts on my hosting (not more than 50) - This is because right now we are only 3 people who are running this service, so we would like to provide quality support to our clients.
Big or huge hosting companies have problems in managing their resources and providing quick response.

I have made the following plans ...
please check them and let me know if something is missing !

(do not register to WHMCS right now!)

servcrate.com/hosting/shared-hosting/

PEACE guys!

My advice, for a starter is be extremely clear and specific about what you offer and what you don't.

As mentioned the word support is so broad that many people will come to expect everything from you. As well as blame everything on you.

Set your prices to what is reasonable for you. Those people/clients that expect the world from you want it for $4.99 a month or less. You DO NOT want those customers. It may sound like bad business advice to shun potential customers, but they are typically people who do not care about you, your business, or your trust.

Your best bet to grow a hosting business is to gain your own gig's building them simple websites. Jobs like this are excellent because you also have a say in where to host... on your server!

Hmm.. I tried out with live support once at my website ... but trust me.. it is a real tough thing!

During the day i was online for 4-5 hours straight ... and did not get even a single prospective customer. Most of the chats were spam and useless.

I like the WHMCS ticket system,

So .. anything about my web hosting plans?
any improvements needed?
