I'm starting a streaming video adult website... Any advice?

Hey everyone!

I will be starting a website such as xtube, xhamster, etc etc. In addition to myself, I have two developers who will be building the website starting in mid-December. None of us have done anything like this before, and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for us. We have some innovative ideas to get traffic and make money, but we are curious as to some standard obstacles we may encounter while trying to start this business. For example:

1) Legal Obstacles
2) Building connections with porn websites
3) Getting sample content from websites to make affiliate sales
4) General cost

Can anyone address any of those concerns for me? Also, any general advice about this topic would be much appreciated as well.

Thank you so much!

1) You can start legal tube (use sponsors clips) or let your users upload their own (mostly illegal) videos or import embeds (save costs).
2) Reciprocal links are out. You need to use ABC or even better ABCD technique.
3) Sponsored content is availible within affiliate areas.
4) If you use hosted videos you will burn a LOT of bandwidth. If you use embeds you should change titles (=a lot of money for writers). Otherwise you don't need any kind of strong server unless you have big traffic.

Developers thinking technology will save the world

Get some whitelabels or off the shelf software for less than the price of dinner and see if the innovative traffic ideas pan out. Then when the money comes in you can bootstrap and fund the developers to spend all their days fiddling, playing and installing mongoDB and whatever is the latest and greatest and implement feature creep with their ideas to their hearts content. Start with a MVP and go from there and buy something like the lean startup book. 6 months from now you'll have a decent business and then have two developers on the payroll which you can sack , and use their salary to get some marketing, traffic buyers and content managers instead. simples.

Actually, I will not be needing to pay for these developers.

Rachel - What do you mean when you say most user uploaded vids are illegal?

Costs depends on the type of tube and your traffic. They can be zero (other than your time) (see sig) or thousands of dollars every month.

I was thinking more along the lines of user uploaded videos of themselves. Do you need to have this stuff hosted outside of the US, or what are the laws surrounding that? I know that many states do not allow pornography distribution.
