Guide: Porn Site Reviews Writing
When you’re producing a website that focuses on porn reviews, having a writer that understands the industry – as well as SEO – is the key to success. See, writing adult reviews is more of a science than most would have you believe. You’re selling a product – that product being access to a high quality, exclusive collection of hot smut that Joe Blow is going to surname his load over. Now, if you were reading a description for a product and it came across as being written by someone that had a vested interest in selling it to you, or otherwise wordsmithed in such a style that made you feel uneasy or untrusting, would you be buying that product?
No, the answer is no. You wouldn’t think twice and you’d go elsewhere. Language has a value far in excess of a lay person’s use – you can give a reasonable case for buying something, sure. But when push comes to shove, any businessman worth their salt is going to invest in whatever he can to get the best return on his money. So, what does this have to do with paysite reviews? There are, surprisingly, a number of people out there that are qualified to do a great job when it comes to telling surfers why they should join a porn site. These types of writers should, above all else, focus on the best elements of the site they’re writing about. Being 2013, most sites are going to have a hell of a lot going for them – I can tell that since 2008, the quality of smut online has gone up and up. Higher definitions, better update schedules, cheaper join fees and plenty of bonuses that will give the user a solid porn experience. Here are a few things that a porn site review should cover. You don’t have to have all of them, but it’s certainly a good idea to consider adding them to your site if you haven’t already: Initial Factors This includes everything from mentioning the network the site’s on (if any), whether you’ve had any praise or beef in the past, the overall impression of the tour and relevant information that could be useful to the user. Most of this information should be meta and should only be short and simple unless there’s a big issue. On a few occasions, I’ve made clear notices of sites that have hidden cross sales or have otherwise fucked users in the ass, because it does nothing but make the industry harder to trust and fucks good guys in the ass. Navigation and Accessibility How do most people watch porn? One handed. They have their hands on their dicks and they’re jacking off as they’re clicking through the perfect scene to release themselves to. Sites should always have a good header navigation bar and shouldn’t require more than 3-4 clicks in order to watch a video. Accessibility also stretches to having videos that stream. You’ll find a lot of porn sites also play thumbnail gifs when a scene is highlighted from a broader menu – stuff like this doesn’t have to be mentioned, but if little things like that aren’t on tap, make a mention of it. It’s 2013, sites should be a cake walk to get to the good stuff. The Content This goes without question and is undoubtedly the most important aspect of the user experience. Always put yourself in the position of the user and ask if you could get off to this type of thing. If it isn’t your fetish, that’s fine: still analyze the important aspects and ask if they’re being done sufficiently. Content should also cover the quality of the media – this is both subjective and objective. A 1920 x 1080 pixel MP4 is a solid staple of any adult entertainment hub, but be mindful of the fact that a video recorded on a phone from 2005 can still be rendered up to match that level. The most important thing to address is whether it’s pixelated or not. Surfers want pure, untouched skin that doesn’t look rough. The better the quality, the happier the surfer. The Models Nothing is less arousing than a girl that simply isn’t in the job. Porn should be about pleasure – while some can be happy seeing a motionless teen mom in need of a quick payday getting stabbed in the ass, most would prefer it being a college babe that could do with some extra bucks and that incidentally, really loves to fuck. My favorite site to demonstrate the way a model should be is Kink.com – all of the subsites on this network take on girls who love kinky sex. They do interviews, they ensure that the girls are happy – everything about the way Kink operates should be a shining beacon to other producers as the paradigm adult entertainment should be shifting to. We also want the girls to be attractive – they don’t have to be stunning, just good hygiene. As a quick note to producers that work with blowjob scenes – PLEASE get your models to scrape the back of their tongues the morning before a shoot. No one wants to see green gunk covered in cum at the end of a scene. The Extras Free webcam streams, networked sites, forums, model contact or any other relevant extras that come with the joining package should be clearly outlined. This also includes dispelling any myths that are produced in the tour: if a site claims to have “free webcam shows” and is merely a white label Streamate page, it most certainly does not fit the user’s expectations. There are sites out there that offer regular broadcasting of attractive models – it’s still pretty niche and not the end of the world if it isn’t available, but it’s certainly a bonus if we’re getting to see real girls live for no extra cost. While this is just a general guide and hasn’t covered all that can be mentioned, the main points have been covered. Any review containing 50% of what’s above will probably be enough to convince a user into joining, but blending the right amount of convincing language with facts and site information can really raise your chances of a click through and, ultimately, a join. Make sure your reviewer knows what they’re getting into – not having knowledge of the industry and what’s required of a site in this day and age will leave you out of pocket and with some very bad copy. Here at X Copywriters, we’re committed to providing clients with nothing but the best in review writing. We know the ins and outs of the industry, and can help you with any text you need produced.
