URGENT: Feedback on m3server AND other hosts needed

Is anyone hosting with them currently? I registered an account in 2016 and they were great then, however I'd like to make sure things haven't changed.

I need a hosting solution quickly and this is a company with which I've hosted in the past -- they'd be my starting point. If anyone offers a managed VPS with 2 cores and 3 or 4 GB of RAM for between $25 and $50, I'd be interested in hearing about that too. The site in question is on a quasi-VPS (shared) with 3 GB of physical RAM, 3 GB of virtual RAM and a limit of 100 entry processes.

Vacares meets this criteria.

Are you still hosting with them? If not, when would this have been?

I guess technically I still host with them as I haven't cancelled yet but finished the process of moving my sites to a new host a couple weeks ago

left M3 as I have a pretty specific set of needs that involve another partner on her sites and we needed a unique arrangement that suited us, but I've never had an issue with M3. ever. I nominated them for best host along with Vacares in the GFY awards, would not do that if I didn't think they provide wicked service

the last time I contacted them for a password reset (that is my only annoyance with that co but see the security value in it) I got a reply in less than hour, after they already knew I was leaving. I don't think I've ever (2014-2019) had to wait more than an hour for a reply to any email I've ever sent, at any hour of the day or night.

sites always up, Ryan from M3 even helped finish a site migration for me when I was offline due to being in the middle of a hurricane and the power went out

they're great, will not do you wrong

M3, MOJO, Vacares.. Not necessarilly in that order.

I have had sites on M3 since about 2001 or 2002 I think. Currently have 2 servers with them. They are responsive to your needs. No real complaints, any bumps we have had we have worked through. Back in 2014, over Labor day weekend I needed a new server like "RIGHT NOW" and they got me setup and handled in hours.

I have clients that have sites on MOJO and they are great. I have dealt with MOJO for several years now. They coordinated with me directly many times in an urgent support situation and were quick and responsive.

I have a client with Vacares and dealt with their support just last month during the site transition. We were dealing with my code which is totally custom and they did a great job during the time I dealt with them. I have been monitoring the sites that we moved since then and have not seen any glitches.

So, I don't think you can do badly with any of them.

They all deal with you too, so don't just take their list price contact them for a custom deal and you will not regret it.

For M3 contact Chris Stach, on here his user name is Stach14
Chris Stach - [email protected] Skype: chris.stach14

For MOJO get with either Brad or Natalie, either one will take care of you.
Brad's User name is Brad Mitchell Skype™ MojoHostBrad
Natalie is User name NatalieMojoHost Skype™ natalie.ac

For Vacares, Sly is your go to guy. User Name Sly ICQ 147479144 Skype limpgringo (I think, that might be someone else that is at Vacares)

All 3 of them are very adult friendly also.

Tell them Sarettah sent you and they will raise the price by 50% ;p

agreed, don't think you could go wrong with any of the above. never used Mojo so can't rec them but it's on my bucket list to take Mojo Natalie dancing (so few people actually appreciate reggaeton)

I'm noticing that M3, Vacares and Mojo all have really low amounts of disk space for their intermediate plans (around $50 -- I absolutely do not need more than what's offered at that level), even the non-SSD plans. I'm using almost 200 GB of space on what's basically a shared plan and paying $20/month. Why do $50 plans have only 50 GB of space?

Does anyone know if one opt for a non-SSD (for Vacares as an example) in exchange for greater disk space?

When factoring in my site's backup image, I'm using about 350 GB overall. Aren't we at a point where a terabyte of storage isn't a big deal? Hard drives are super cheap and these incremental storage fees are kind of insane.

Edit: I see that M3 has a tool for customization, looking into this.
For 200 GB of space, SSD is not realistic in that price range. We could do a HDD package, which would be custom. I sent you a private message. Grab me on Skype and we can go over a few options.

Thanks Sly! I like that you guys offer DirectAdmin (something I'm used to) as well. An SSD for my purposes is pretty unimportant, that sounds good.

Just heading to bed -- will discuss plans on Skype tomorrow.

We have alot of clients at M3, have been recommending them for years, and really have no complaints there - though we've been recommending Mojohost lately now that we have their object storage implemented into our script.

Why is storage so expensive? I pay $20/month for a quasi-VPS/shared plan with unlimited storage -- I'm using at least 150 GB, 3 GB of RAM and 3.5 TB of bandwidth. Getting to > 300 GB of storage, which is what I'd need to future-proof things, results in pretty crazy prices (for a site like the one I'm hosting). Given how much storage costs have cratered, this confuses me.

I'm not prepared to quadruple or quintuple my current yearly budget for hosting, I'd like to not spend more than $50/month.

Talk to the reps and see what kind of deal they can give you. I bet all 3 (m3, mojo and vacares) can each come up with something that handles what you need at a price you can deal with. Just my experience there.

Your hosting is selling you a fantasy. Read the TOS, they 100% for sure give you a limit on IOPS and have clauses that if you use too much server resources they can terminate your account. There is a reason why pornhub does not house it's video collection on a $20/mo shared hosting.

Besides that, the harddrive you use on your home pc is different then the one used in a server. Enterprise level shit costs more.

Shared packages typically oversell. VPS packages do not. So because of the different business models, it's not a apples to apples comparison.

Looks like I'm late to this conversation. Sly is good and I'm happy you chose a reputable hosting solution. If for any reason you need another host - please do reach out or connect in skype, we can certainly put you within your target budget.

Sly "Shared packages typically oversell. VPS packages do not. So because of the different business models, it's not a apples to apples comparison."

Yep, this, 100%

MaDalton "Mojo Host is all you need"

thank you and everyone else who's recommending us!

JesseQuinn "to take Mojo Natalie dancing (so few people actually appreciate reggaeton)"

Oh I'm totally up for that! Are you doing any shows in 2020?
