After experienced one of my SSD crashed with no possible recovery and no backup
I have decide to not bother with that and pay the damm fee's at my hosting company and they take care of it.
Other will choose to do their back up them self / daily / weekly and save it on their pc etc.

A combination of cPanel, Microsoft Flow and cloud storage. cPanel on my host's server is set to create a full backup archive once a week which Flow then automatically transfers to cloud storage. Flows also mirror new files from the server to cloud storage. There's services that do basically the same thing but if I don't have to spend the money I'd rather not have to. Worst case scenario I have to upload the backup file manually and restore the site in cPanel or worst worst case scenario pay my host to do it.

we keep it simple. our backup is our media mirrors (at least 2 per site). they serve as more than just a backup. they keep the videos streaming fast too.

we also make a copy of the data every hour and store it for 30 days. that has come in handy many times.

the most important thing to backup is the biller passfiles, especially if yours is shared by multiple billers. every biller should have their own passfile.

hosting is dirt cheap these days. just rent a backup/mirror.

or stop worrying about all that shit and come to PornCMS

Online and offline, I believe hosting provider keeps approximately last 14 days & 1-2 annual ones. I take offline ones myself manually, monthly and every time I make significant changes to my sites. And yes, things happen, not often but they do, and when they do it saves a lot of effort, time, money, serps and stress.

I have several suggestions here, Generally the best way to is to use a program like jetbackup or something similar if you have full root access and you use rsync. If you have any questions or would like an professional opinion you can find me on skype 24/7 hudsonwebservices :D

I have about 100+ Wordpress installs spread over 12 different hostings and I'm still looking for the best way to backup them regularly.

Always always always back up.

I download a copy to a drive inside my PC, then back that up to an external HD. Better safe than sorry. Learned that lesson a few years ago.

Depending on the needs and on a project basis we do:
- Daily full backups on our cloud provider
- On demand updates of all our software (mostly php) on premium bitbucket accounts mostly because of versioning and chances to rollback plus a weekly full versioning to distribute all the software to all our appliance servers
- Hourly database backups on Google Cloud BigData SQL service (not needed? we do it anyway!)
- Daily remote backups on premium google drive for the static content so if the provider backups should fail we always have a copy of the content. We used Amazon Drive before they stopped the unlimited feature.
- Finally as CEO I always backup all to my office NAS since I'm connected on a Gigabit Fiber so it's not a big hassle with rsync to do it continuously without affecting the office's connectivity performance.
