Let's start this thread without advertising guys.

We'll open it up to them later, but right now, just the webmasters
and what they're using.

I'm a noob here and in this industry.

I'm a computer tech, hardware, software web dev etc.
I currently use godaddy for my other clients hosting.
According to their TOS I can put adult content there.
So, the question, what do you think, and what are you using?

I'm looking at getting into a bunch of niches, but I'll start slowly with the
basics, FHG, TGP, MGP???, and I will also be trying to push into a lot
of differnt areas.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Goddady hosting = a joke. don't use it.

reliable virtual hosting:

- DWHS
- Tear2hosting

Recommended dedicated hosting:
OC3 Networks

Cheap entry hosting: Dreamhost.

Might I suggest HostGator (see sig). They amazingly professional unlike a lot of the mom/pop hosting companies ran here on GFY and you can host unlimited domains for an insane price. 24/7 Online Customer support chat, etc. They've really got it it all and I've never had a problem with them. Check it out.

Yeah don't use Godaddy. Host gator too. Just yesterday, I saw a thread something like...don't host with host gator. That thread starter went into some problems with them or something. Just look around in the forum you'll find it somewhere. But if you're serious about adult hosting, then choose one of the top ten like the one in my sig. I'm also with them, they have very good support. Site is always up.

I am hosting on virtual with them and everything is perfect.

An alternative solution is to host your own website(s) if you have a DSL or cable connection through a Dynamic DSL script...

However if you are a noob to technical aspect then go with Hostgator.com, they seem good.

If you want reliability, go with www.steadfast.net

They are a bit pricer than the rest, but defiantly worth it. They have shared and dedicated. I had about 10 mins of downtime since January.

I decided to setup a small hosting platform, basically I got access to some servers with spare room so figured why not?

Goodings Media hosting will start from $2.99 p/month for small sites n such. I'm not gonna enter the "unlimited bandwidth" market.

So technically this isn't advertising, as it's also my host

Something I forgot to add:
I'm in Canada, does it matter where your hosting is? Like legal matters?
Would I be better off with hosting in Europe or something like that?

Also, has anyone got any good info on the legal requirements, 2243 or something like that, whatever the tracking compliance regulations are? Or is that something just actual content providers have to worry about?

Hey spicoli, it doesn't matter where your hosting is at. did you mean 2257? It's an US law, I don't think it affects you as you are in Canada. message me if you need help.
