How much MONEY...the truth

I read where the average house payment is about $850 per month in USA
How many webmasters in the forum make enough money that this is their only job.Or do you still have to do a regular job. Bottom line could you pay a mortgage
and live only on your adult site. Do you do $1000 per month. Let's be honest without revealing all our finances. Maybe we can all help each other by
being honest

I think not many people will make their income public, it is just in real life where most people aren't comfortable talking about their income.

How can you make that much money in a month? only a moron signs up for porn. Everyone else just downloads it off some bittorrent website or hacks a password.

Webmasters still earn good money, if they know what they are doing.

Hi letstry

There are many of us who make that in a day and then some. Of course many of us have been at this as long as a decade. It takes talent, determination, luck, many long hours sat working until the early hours 7 days a week. What you need to do is figure out what makes money, how to do it, then kiss goodbye to your weekends for a few years and start working.

Kristian,

Thanks for the words of motivation. I'm prepared to make whatever sacrifices that I need to in order for this to work.

Question to the veteran webmasters: do you think that the new guys coming into this industry are willing to do what it takes to succeed?

Kristian ,thanks for the answer. No one needs to give exact numbers but maybe ballpark figures(estimates) of how people are doing..or can someone say at least if they still need a full time job while doing this...
I feel this will support the forum with some togetherness if we can at least admit if we need other incomes(day jobs).
I do a day job..I am new in this industry
Thanks

Holy crap, batman!

You know, I don't think you suck at all; in fact, I think just the opposite. You're still here which means you still want to earn a living as an internet marketer. Most people would have given up already, so you still being here after a year tells me you don't give up easy.

I've literally just setup a blog (sig) that will likely help you a great deal. Sign up to a few of my sponsors, get involved in discussions there, and you'll be making money in no time. I'm not usually so direct lol but it's actually the truth. I'm sure we can have you earning nice money quick enough.

No problem, koreancowboy. I remember what it was like wanting to make a buck online and not knowing how. Times got tough for awhile, scary, but I buckled down and found my niche. There are so many ways of making a living online, you just need to find what you're good at and stick at it. Dreams of 6 figure incomes are really not out of anyone's reach who's willing to work hard.

I think new entrants to the industry are more switched-on now than ever before. The industry has matured and become efficient, organized. Most new people entering can see it for themselves so their natural response is usually like entering any labor market with good prospects - where they know hard work and determination will likely pay off.

If you are new to the business you won't make any money without investing a rather large chunk of money. I'd recommend a business with less competition.

Neither startup capital, competition or supposed market saturation will ever hinder financial success in internet marketing. The greatest hurdle is knowledge. Second to that is determination. A close third is imagination. Cheap virtual hosting, a 2 buck domain, and the required information will see any determined person making $50K+ per annum - and a whole lot more is possible.

That's hysterical. You don't really believe that, do you? I've been doing this for well over 10 years now and I disagree very strongly with everything you said. Sure determination will help but there's no way a newcomer to this business will be successful without an incredible amount of work, more work than would be required in another line of work to achieve similar success. A newbie's time would be much better spent in a more lucrative business.

I won't say much about your comment "supposed market saturation." It's real and it affects sales. Period.

I am talking about adult specifically, not internet marketing as a whole. I've been doing adult for most of my online career and have just recently starting making more money outside of adult...where saturation is not such a massive problem.

Wait, now that I look at your sig I see why you are spouting inaccuracies. Your business revolves around getting other webmasters to sign up under you. You're a one man pyramid scheme.

I'm at that stage now in my life.

It used to be frustrating at first, but now I'm content with the fact that I will figure it all out one day. It usually just "comes to me". Weird, I know.

Who knows? Maybe I'll find something pron-adjacent to make a living off of.

You know, you do yourself a disservice by acting with such hostility. If you'd care to look at my blog you'd notice it was not 10 years old so, clearly, my entire business plan does not revolve around it. What I've done for this length of time is make money by marketing dating sites, either as an affiliate or consultant.

I'm almost sure you will scoff at anything I say, so I'll direct this at newbies reading this thread. Do not be deterred. The business model of my "new" blog is very simple : I make money IF you make money (and this is not my main source of income lol ... come on lol). So if I thought people couldn't make money, then I wouldn't waste my time helping them to get my chunk, would I?

Back to Babaganoosh - Let's agree to disagree.

Hostility? I'm not being hostile in the slightest.

The only logical conclusion is that you are grasping to make money any way you can. I personally don't have time make a site dedicated to getting newbie webmasters to sign up under me. I'm too busy making money on my own. Good luck though, kiddo. You'll need it.

You know, it truly amazes me people like yourself exist. I don't think I could ever wake up one morning, waltz onto gfy, and just be so rude to someone I don't know. Aside from being unprofessional it's just so pointless and, frankly, a bizarre way to behave and conduct yourself in a business environment. Your insults do nothing but diminish people's perceptions of you. To me you seem angry and frustrated. I'm not sure why anyone would wish to be perceived this way.

Your tone is hostile, as are your presumptions. As to my blog, it's not intended for newbies alone, it's aimed at anyone who promotes dating. I enjoy doing it, I'm sure it'll make me some nice money, and I know for sure it will help a lot of people too. Is it my only income source? Of course not. I'm well known to make a very healthy income.

What you must understand is that I'm explaining myself to you in hopes that others reading this thread will not become discouraged by your sentiments. I'm quite sure you'll continue insulting me and my assumed income-level, although I would be delighted to be proven wrong. All money matters aside, I would hate for some guy (or girl) to give up on IM just because of some negative statements.

Maybe you're just having a bad day. I'm sure you're a nice guy really.

Unprofessional? Puhlease. This board is for internet pornographers. It's called "Go Fuck Yourself." To expect people to behave as they would in a corporate environment is asinine. Get over yourself. Really.

My site has been up three years this month.

This is the first year I'm making a living at it. I work an average of 80 hours a week and I do everything on the site: Design, booking, shooting and editing video, marketing, SEO work, tech support.

Bottom line is: Yes. You can earn a living doing this. You just have to work your ass off and learn something new every day.

I think its like any other business, some make millions others make hardly anything. Its all down to what you do, how you do it and if you have the drive, knowledge, skill and motivation to make it work.

The skys the limit. But if you're completely new to online marketing it will probably take you about 6 months before you have a steady income.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one giving newbies some hope.

Something else that might help :

http://www.gfy.com/showthread.php?t=760888

Those two homes where paid for outright with money earned from working online.

I also own property that I rent out in the UK - all paid for by internet marketing.

And that's just property. I wont go into my entire financial structure here but, honestly, it is less than shabby.

Listen to Kristian and other with a similar mentality; you'll do fine.

My advice, is to use forums for business and take advantage of the ignore list within your user control panel. It will help weave out a lot of useless replies and users who don't post anything worth reading.

I'm a programmer and there is still money to be made on the internet don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I'll share my ignore list with you; it's pretty easy to spot these guys; one was in here....

Ok, well my $30 was just increased to about $87 in the past few days. Although, I have been being a little more aggressive about my marketing lately too. Not a lot, just a little. :P I am pretty sure I could make more if I could figure out how to optimize my site for better sales. Then again, I only own 1 TGP, it has a warning splash page which probably turns some people away.

I have purchased traffic a few times, which didn't do a damn thing for me. The only thing it really did was send my trades a few hits, and even then, most of the traffic coming back from them was also skim, so that also doesn't seem to have made much of a difference.

The best results I have had so far seem to have come from search engine traffic.

My TGP is based on HD (or close) quality galleries, so I am also probably losing out a bit by being that picky about what galleries are displayed on my site.

I don't know. Like I said, it is more of a casual, on and off thing for me. More like a hobby. I have always searched high and low to find the highest quality galleries, so I thought I might as well make a TGP, and dump them on there whenever I find them. I have also only ever signed up for sites that had super high quality galleries. So I was more or less banking on that.

Wether or not that way of thinking will pay off someday, I have no idea. I guess if HD quality porn becomes the big, hot new thing overnight where half of the people out there are looking for it, I might see a huge increase in traffic, but in the meantime, I am only seeing about 300-400 unique visitors a day to my site.

Either way, I surf other TGP's like I always have, and if I find some new HD stuff that is not on my TGP, I sign up for the affilliate program, and get those galleries for my own TGP.

About a third of that list are people that I know are superior to him in every sense of the word. He's obviously one of those idiots who adds people to his ignore list whose ideas don't jibe with his.

The information he posts isn't of any value to me -maybe to others with similar business models. My ignore list is just used to help keep GFY more readable for myself. Too bad it doesn't block threads started by the individuals as well ...

The people on my ignore list just bring people down around here. I ignore posters based on a combination of the way they treat other users; the type of information they post; if I'd personally ever conduct any type of business with them. GFY, isn't any significant part of what makes me a person and these people on my ignore list have no influence over my life nor business decisions.

Anyways, Hello - I've never noticed any of your posts here : - )

What I've never understood about this industry, and from reading on both here and JBM.com, is that how many people want to keep the noobs (like me) down.

With so many people (especially those coming of age) wanting to get quality porn, and with the relatively few people that stick with it for the long run, why do it?

Competition is always good, for both business and consumer. Everybody wins.

Help a brother out!

BTW, I'm getting a bit closer to launching my sites...I don't like to talk about it much, but I'm in the final stages of.

I don't "hope" that I will succeed, I know that I will.

I will not code for you, because of the way you treat others around here. I consider people like you a risk. For the little amount that I do post on GFY, you've been right there attempting to make me look bad every since I decided to turn down your project. You can't treat people like shit in a public place then expect to do any serious business with those who surround.

Follow up on your replies and stop your crying. You can call me whatever you want, but make sure you at least put some thought into it.

Hey calmlikeabomb,

I know this is off topic, but, your here, I'm here, so I'll ask a quicky. Any opinion on Ruby on Rails? Everything around here seems to be done in PHP, but I just can't seem to pull the trigger on which to learn. I suppose I should just go with the flow, but Ruby is so pretty.

Now back to the topic. Years I've been doing this? 0 Money I've made? 0 How's that for truth?

I've only been doing it for 4 years, and not only do I agree with him - I'm living it. I'm proof that you are wrong. Just because something didn't work for you doesn't mean it's impossible.

That's what it's all about, sifting through the garbage to find the gems. Quite a few around here.

By the way, I just saw Rage at Alpine Valley a short bit ago, they were phenomenal.

I have to do something radical! I still struggle on getting more than $1,000/month. I now have 1 tgp that slowly are getting good traffic + 20+ other TGP's that has from 200 to 1000 uniques daily. I have been doing TGP's for a long, long time but just lately I feel that I am starting to actually LEARN anything. The previous 2-3 years i just poured galleries out there with NO plan behind anything. I added TGP's took down TGP's - made a mess for myself - lost trades and traffic.

What I think I must do is to focus on 1-2 TGP's. Sure i could keep the others running but not spend any time on them. I will stop buying traffic. I see no result there and finally I should learn to optimize my site(s) for search engines. I have no problems with working 10 hours every day on this IF I was seeing some better results. But as of now i need my dayjob.
