Looking for a CMS provider/company --

We're in the market for a new CMS provider to help us with some big site redesigns, so we're looking for suggestions and/or recommendations. And don't tell me ElevatedX... we already signed up with them once and their customer service is the worst I've ever experienced of any company we've ever done business with, so we fired them.

We currently are considering another company that looks promising, but in the interest of performing due diligence (not to mention the fact that we got fucked over once in this process), we're entertaining all options. We need a basic CMS with some light customization that's reliable and has worked before on other sites, so please feel free to email us at webmaster(at)pinupglam.com or simply drop a suggestion in here.

Many thanks.

Can you tell us what's so bad about ElevatedX? They seem fine to me the numerous times I've dealt with their support.

I'm sure at one point they were fine but my impression is that they have grown to the point that they simply can't handle their workload from the amount of customers they have. Here's my list of gripes with them:

1) They are never in the office, even during stated business hours, which are a joke BTW -- 9 to 5? Seriously, who closes at 5:00 anymore? The Post Office has longer hours than that. Every person I know who owns and runs their own startup business works their fuckin' ass off all day every day, yet these guys can't go a minute past 5:00 apparently.

2) Even during their normal business hours, no one is ever online or on ICQ during the day as they should be. They are there for maybe an hour or two and then go offline.

3) When they are offline or out of the office, they are completely unreachable. They have a generic virtual office answering service that answers their calls and then tries to patch you through to wherever they are but that never happens and they have no clue where they are, so they make you leave a voicemail, which also doesn't get returned with any semblance of promptness.

4) Emails take days and even weeks to respond to. We're still waiting for a simple estimate on a custom order we placed over two weeks ago.

5) When you do get in touch with them, instead of answering questions or helping a customer directly, they instead tell you to go read the knowledge base, which is so confusing and poorly written that it's basically useless. When we signed up, they told us we would have to have some basic knowledge of CMS, which our programmers definitely do, but our lead programmer spent hours combing through that thing and still has questions about what it can and can't do and the best way to make it work.

6) We need some light customization done, which wouldn't take more than a couple of days to execute, and have even offered to pay a larger service fee to get this done and they don't seem to care at all, because I've been trying to reach them for a full week about this and am still waiting to hear back.

7) Even if they did get everything done that we needed them to do, I shudder to think what would happen if something went wrong. I mean, seriously -- what if one day our installation got corrupted or something stopped functioning properly and our sites crash? These guys are never there and respond at a glacial pace... I can't afford to have my websites down for days on end while I wait for them to get off their asses and help me.

My advice to anyone out there looking for a CMS is to stay far, FAR away from ElevatedX. That is, unless you like having zero service and no way to get in touch with anyone if you need something quickly.

Thanks for the info, but can you tell me what their website is? A Google search doesn't lead to anything conclusive. Thanks.

SiteDepth is old skool but works like a dream. Simple but reliable.

PaysiteCMS has all of the whizzes and bangs but costs a fortune.

Used both in the past. Both very good.

This is the first time in our operation and in my nearly 10 years in this business that I have encountered someone who was so inclined to cause public damage to my company or my reputation. Reading posts like this literally makes me ill.

This is the 3rd similar thread by this poster, all with the same intentionally damaging tone despite that he received a full refund from us.

Facts:
1) This client's CMS was installed and fully functional within a few days of purchase as promised.
2) On multiple occasions I answered the phone/ICQ personally when the client called.
3) Never did any support related issue go unanswered at any time
4) The client waited no longer than 3 days for a response at any time and this was for a response to a request for extensive CMS customizations.

Fortunately we have a ticket system so I have logs of all the emails, timestamps, etc. to back us up in case people exaggerate and claim they got no response.

What this person didn't choose to include in his post is that upon receiving a full refund he sent an email saying -

"For the record, I would have much rather had it work out than get a refund, because you definitely have a terrific product here, but I think that what we need and what you are able to offer are just too far apart."

Here is my response from the other threads on this matter:

Please accept our public apology.

The Elevated X CMS powers a large number of adult programs, mostly with good results.

The dissatisfaction expressed in this thread is related to our failure to provide a new client with a satisfactory response time to a request for product customizations - not a failure to provide service for a support issue.

In this case our software had been in use for less than 3 weeks and the best we could do was issue a full refund upon learning via email of the extreme level of dissatisfaction as expressed in the above post.

We try our best to offer a great product and prompt support service to every one of our clients including 24 hour emergency tech support response.

The number of happy clients who offer public praise in other threads attests to this, however, unfortunately as with any business there are times when we're simply unable to provide the level of service or the level of attention a client requires.

I apologize for your inconveniece and I'm sorry for disappointing you.

We wish you the best of luck with your venture and hope that you find a CMS provider that meets your needs.

AJ

I know this entire industry thrives on drama, but I think the Elevated-X hate is way out of any reasonable form.

I manage several installations of EX, and have managed MAS as well.

They both have their advantages, and their disadvantages. Neither Ross, nor AJ have ever left me stranded - and AJ's even gone beyond to spend time editing a skin himself - past 9pm - when one was delivered broken by a third party and there were other issues that I had to deal with.

That hardly seems like the act of someone who is disinterested in business, or service.

I strongly suggest anyone interested in any of these products actually do the research themselves.

then why the hell are you looking at one of the most advanced, stable, and supported CMS's in the adult industry? if you need something basic, you should be looking at something basic. i mean, what the hell can you possibly need that El-X doesnt have out of the box?

so you're saying that programs that run 100+ sites on multiple servers using 1 copy of Elevated X can use the CMS just fine with no problems or issues, but your program cannot? are you for real ?

i dont like to insert myself in the middle of someone's drama, but my experience with ElevatedX (and every other program owner that i personally know that uses it) has been NOTHING but praise at the level of support, service, attentiveness, and help from AJ & the crew there. So I just wanna offer a different viewpoint from the slanderous allegations you choose to make.

Good luck on your search, sounds like its gonna be needed.

I dont personally know AJ, but I have seen the system and I know someone that works with them on a weekly basis. I watched her on many occasions send in a ticket to ask info for a client, or send a mail to get info and there has ALWAYS been a response within a matter of minutes to hours. Never once have I see her even wait a day.

Elevated is one of the best there is to use, and for a reason.

What you should have said was that you tried them and they just did not work out for you.

I've never had one single problem with AJ or ElevatedX. Everyone I know uses it and has wonderful support and feedback. You're coming out of left field bud.

I know AJ almost on a personal level and would call him a friend.
ElevatedX is the backbone of our operation and without his hard work, dedication, and damn near round the clock support for us we would have never gotten off the ground.
From custom technical problems to almost being my personal tutor I owe him and his crew a lot.
In short excellent program, support, and software.
