In your experience, have you ever had legal problems?

I realize that everytime I write a post, I end up writing more than one.

But, I would like to know have any of you webmasters ever encountered legal problems? If so, how easy is it to clear up? And is it often or just a one time thing? And how could I avoid that?

We had a competitor harrass us for about 3 months with legal letters and we finally told them to sue or shut up. They shut up. This was non-adult stuff though.
