I guess since Obama didn't part the waters we will go back to the usual...worshipping Idols

Obama spoke of a better educated American workforce. With the costs of higher education having skyrocketed in the past 10 years how are the working poor to afford any higher education for their children to elevate their future prosperity?

Government subsidies to pay for this costly education will never happen in sufficient quantity. Why should it anyway?

I am disappointed that the potential for "Internet College" and the savings that could be achieved was not brought up.

In all, just "lip service" to his proposed "reinventing of America" ? looks to me as business as usual in Washington DC ? more chicken in every pot and pass the donation plate ...

The economy won't improve until Obama is voted out of office.

This generation will hopefully have its Jimmy Carter/ Ronald Reagan moment, when the reins are handed over --and things instantly improve.

.. so true... That is why, instead, I replayed the State of the Union ( or Onion ) speech of Feb. 2003 : it is a perfect example of massive truth .... :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Do you have any examples of how poor people fared well in past deflations?

Poor people don't have liquidity now, so how do collapsing prices help them? How does even more unemployment help?

Also, why do you equate not wanting a deflationary collapse with hating poor people? :Oh crap

Obama is good at one liner speeches, it's like a series of quotes, one after another,Never looking at the camera in front of him, he can't look you in the eyes when he's lying. I liked the GOP response better, but not by much.

Barry said the same things he has always said, he wants more money to spend, I just keep remembering that Japan did 10 years of stimulus and it didn't work. And I'm still against raising the taxes on the top 2% to pay for Barry's ream, I mean dream.

Under Pelosi the country went 5.32 trillion deeper in debt, time to change the battle plan.

But his speech was aimed at those that still believe in unicorns, that Canadians are somehow qualified to discuss American politics and that putting 30 million people on entitlements for free healthcare will some how save money.

I do love that he AGAIN promised not to sign any bill with ear marks and he went on about American Exceptionalism when he bowed to how many country leaders in the last 2 years?

But hey the democrats and liberals are loving that his numbers are going up, forgetting that he's the leader by office, when the overall feeling of dread goes up for the government, Barry's numbers will go up, it's that they have a little more faith in the government, not Barry.

I like that he looks around and doesn't look at the camera like a brain dead drone... and I saw him look at the camera many times.

What does Pelosi have to do with any of this? And 5.32 trillion in debt, was not created by the Obama Administration - Obama's stimulus did not cost us very much, damn sure not 5.32 trillion.

The earmark subject is funny all around.. Left and Right - both sides scream against them, yet wont go for a bill if their earmarks aren't added in... Hello John MacCain - against in the public, yet for them in private! Earmarks aren't a bad thing fyi, it's just a buzz word.

How many other President / Leaders shook Obama's hand, when that isn't custom for them to do so? Oh, almost all of them? EXACTLY!

He has his own numbers, and congress has numbers, and nobody trusts the Gov - damn sure not because of a few Republicans making it in.

If Obama's numbers are going up, it's because he continues to deliver on what he promised. You may not like the truth, but the fact is Obama has broken very few promises - he has actually done much of what he said he would do or at least tried to do it.

You haven't had a president that you could predict his path in 40 years... he's damn near walked the exact line he said he would.

Actually, I'd say he's far more coherent than the previous guy that was in his shoes. That guy either had a stuttering problem, or was too stupid to string an idea into a coherent sentence.

This has been going on for 4 years, the last two under Barry, and he wants more money

I was making the comment on that because the House already promised he wouldn't get any bill with an earmark on it, so Barry takes advantage of that, which he promised 2 years ago and BROKE. So now we'll see if the GOP will honor their promise, unlike the president

LOL, so you're saying you can't shake the hands of the POTUS if you are against his politics?

I guess you forgot the votes in November, what did he call it? a shellacking? Pretty much means people want a different path, but hey, I got something for you!

He's polished with his teleprompters, I'll give him that, but whats more important, a speech giver, or a leader? We haven't had a good leader in decades.

Ohhh, you've had lots of excellent leaders over the past few decades. They just don't like common folk like you and me, and don't appear on the news shows. Read my post in the first page of this thread.

You're giving him shit about him reading off a Teleprompter? Vs... memorizing it, you would rather he waste his time memorizing all these speeches vs. just reading them? Really....?

you mean 6 years, when the Republicans signed the largest Medicare increase in history, largest spending increase ever? Hell if you're going to include those 4, you should back up 4 more years when everything was really sky rocketing.

That's called getting screwed over.. The Rep's & Dem's wouldn't sign, agree, pass and would filibuster anything that didn't have the earmarks THEY forced in. YOUR people YOU voted in, FORCED IN!

Not if you want to get anything done... maybe that's why he's done so much.

You truly think that Nov means the Country is tired of Obama's Policies? Hahahahahaha. Come on, please tell me you're kidding.

This flip was normal, predicted and happens almost every single mid term in history.. EXACTLY like it did.

A great speech giver is more important... they're all leaders, as good as you'll ever get...

Oh yeah, please tell me you don't think President Reagan was a "leader" over a good speech giver... he sucked as a President, but he could speak like no other President up to his time - and he 'helped' move walls with his words.... WORDS.

Don't discredit Obama because he speaks well - that goes a long ways in LEADING!
