And all the scumbag losers of this industry who couldn't make an honest dollar in their pathetic, worthless lives, will spend as much as possible buying up domains just to turn a profit.

It's about money, that's all 90% of the scamming, scheming fucks in this world care about.

It's called greed and it's been running peoples lives for decades, centuries even.

Given some of the stuff we've all witnessed in the past few years, I can get why you feel this way... and who knows, it's probably more often right than wrong.

But... and this I can say with confidence... what you're suggesting as kind of a universal truth isn't always the case. What you're saying now was said also during the last round with .XXX, we were told it was pointless to fight it and that it was a done deal, etc. And, those of us who didn't back down ended up winning. Even if it goes through now, that victory brought us many more years of no .XXX domains.

So given this, there's still plenty of reasons to try and stop .XXX before it becomes a reality. And if it DOES get through this time, there are steps that can be taken at that point too. The people who end up winning in this world at the end of the day are those who are most persistent. The people who want to make a business with .XXX are pretty tenacious, so if you're opposed then step up to the challenge if you have the means. It takes just a little but of your time, and if it doesn't work then at least you had a chance to hang out with some good people and be heard.

I'm just trying to be realistic here, and the reality is, no matter what else happens or how long it takes, money and greed always win out.

Personally, if I could, I'd be there along side those of you who do go.. but I'm not even in the US. I left years ago when all this blood shed for oil, money and power started.. and i have no plans for ever returning...

I really do hope this .xxx thing doesn't go through... but one is left with very little hope considering our own government is run by wall street and banks.

Porn-friendly .xxx domain backer loses suit against federal agencies

This must be what I read, which they lost?
Anyway, if it was some advisory board advising ICANN so be it. Point is ICANN seems to be following the advice and porn is getting screwed ... And in the process — my work.
=======
Well, this time around ICM seems to be winning the day. Wake up and smell the coffee ...

Point is all the protests in the world won't stop this, the gears and the procedural lip-service has begun. However, by using the registry's own policies we may fuck Lawley and his planned extortion up. I think we have reached the point of no return ...

− Trademark holders who receive pre-registration rights will be eligible for long-term, deeply discounted registration of the names as non-resolving strings. .
− Non-resolving registrations cannot be transformed into resolving registrations.
Well, I am willing to take my "long-term, deeply discounted registration." Is this why the sheeple are hedging? "Non-resolving registrations cannot be transformed into resolving registrations."

Now, if a great mass of domainholders that are of the "so-called community" opt out — then, and only then, might ICANN reconsider ...

That there is no real support for the TLD, thus a real reason not to grant it.

Talk is cheap ....

Yeah but we both know that the second this thing does go through, every scumbag in this industry is going to start registering domains like there's no tomorrow.

Here's a more realistic question... is ICANN the only authority for domains, or are there registrars we can push domains to that aren't a part of ICANN?

Bump for the night crowd.

Barry-xlovecam 03-15-2011 08:07 PM

It does sadden me to see so little debate and follow-through on this matter of .xxx ...

If you don't think that the Family Research Council (FRC) and the like are getting ready to start lobbying if this .xxx comes to fruition ? I bring you bad news ...

I'd say bump for the morning crowd, but those who care have handled that.

Alprazolam 03-16-2011 10:20 AM

you gotta love how they scheduled the vote on .XXX for the very last day that they are in town.

conveniently placed so they can get the hell out of dodge and slip into the shadows after the fact.

scumbags.

Well of course... these jackasses are smart, manipulative and motivated.

And every time anyone pre-registers a .xxx domain, it's more money in their pockets.

And the pockets of those actually in our industry who are hiding in the shadows.

DWB 03-16-2011 12:03 PM

To say nothing about this issue, says everything.

D Ghost 03-16-2011 12:32 PM

I'll be there, anyone else?

Hopefully as many people as possible who work in adult and live in the bay area will go.

Tweet for NO XXX TLD

From Joanne at FSC HQ who asked me to post this::thumbsup

Hey, I don?t know if you?re in transit, but could you go on GFY and put the call out for people to Tweet against .XXX?

They can find FSC?s tweets at #FSC, and they can follow us at @FSCArmy? I am posting NO .XXX Tweets today and tomorrow, and asking them and all their friends to retweet.

Or, if they want to Tweet independently, it should go something like this: ?Adult industry does NOT WANT .XXX #ICANN #ICM #FSC plz RT?

Or ?@ICANN We DO NOT WANT .XXX #FSC If U luv adult RT plz?

Or @ICM we DO NOT WANT .XXX No online ghetto #FSC plz RT?

If you don?t Tweet it will be confusing, but the people on GFY that Tweet will get it. The last two messages will go to the ICANN and @ICM Twitter pages (because of the @ in the Twitter handle).

LAJ 03-16-2011 03:06 PM

Feel free to cut and paste what I put here with the @ and # tags and just switch out the text in the 1st 1/2...

You can send posts to @icann or make comments with #icann tag and people that are interested in the topic they'll read them.

GFY_Live 03-16-2011 10:08 PM

Tweet away and tweet at me at PV_Alli. I am waking up at 3am to catch a flight for all this so your tweets will help keep me centered and enegergetic.

I have arrived in San Francisco. I have prepared my statements for tomorrow mornings public comments on .XXX sTLD.

We are going to rock their world!

Keep up the tweets and emails. Tomorrow, it is most important that they see what we really think about .XXX. They will be making the decision on Friday and ICANN has said it can go either way......they don't know how the Board is going to vote.

Doesn't sound like a done deal to me so keep up the emails and tweets!!
