watch this again.... http://cdn.cosbysweaters.com/wp-cont...aVK6dcySPe.gif His skates never leave ice before impact. He's playing D, going after his man.. Skating backwards. He’s going for a check.. Half a second late. I agree Late hit, but if Horton had his head up like he was supposed to and had his body ready, this would have been old school “Hello, nice to meet you” bodycheck. 2 minute penalty for interference . What are you people smoking? |

Just saying. |
Can someone who knows more about hockey than me clear this up.
This is just an example I am using, not saying it is 100% accurate. Say you are the Brazil National Football team, You play a game against the French National Team in France, if Brazil is the better team it doesn't matter where they are playing, Brazil will beat them. Even if the fans are 90% or more French supporters, they will still win. There is a home advantage, but Brazil will not care too much about that, if they are the better team and have been the better recently in other matches either against France or any other nation/team they should be expecting to go to France and win. Now, we have Boston and Vancouver. Boston starts the series off playing away and they can't score, the second game they get a goal but still win. Then we go to Boston and the Bruins absolutely Slaughter Canucks in the first game and shut them out 4-0 in the 4th game of the series. Now, what happened to Vancouver? why are they so much different playing at TD Garden than the Roger's Center? They should have been the better team and they didn't show up, wtf is that about? Then last night we go back to Vancouver, and a team which killed Vancouver 12-1 over 2 games has now been shut out away (again) The Boston team showed they can pull Vancouver apart but they go on the road again and may aswell have stayed in Boston for game 6. Why does this happen? It makes absolutely no sense! Home advantage / Away disadvantage shouldn't tilt a game that much when we are talking about professionals. I could understand amateur teams travelling and losing, but not the top stars. Vancouver should have either gone to Boston and taken atleast 1 game from them, or when Boston went back to Vancouver they should have continued to dominate! |

Then when you get into specifics, star players shouldn't be impacted as much, but the Sedin sisters have essentially been shutout home and away, and Vancouver has scored roughly the same pace regardless of the building. Both teams have looked sluggish while on the road, like expected, but the biggest x-factor has been the play of Luongo. The 8 goals was a situational thing. After the first few goals, his team around him essentially just gave up the game and made it much easier to score. As strange as it sounds, that game could have just as easily been a 2-1 or 3-1 game. |

Upward motion? Its called skating backword, slowing down and bracing for impact.. Dooooh... Please tell me you actually saw the game. There is no forward motion. Rome is tailing him men iand then delivering hit. https://youtube.com/watch?v=pUYqTE3cnuQ |

i'd personally enjoy getting in the face of a vancouverite who was making an ass of our city first thing my mother said to me when we went on vacation is 'you're representing your entire province'.. it's important here |

And secondly, how many times are you going to ask if I've played hockey? I've already told you yes numerous times. Are you that dumb? If you actually did play hockey, you must have been on the receiving end of one of those dirty hits one too many times because not only do you keep asking the same questions, you're arguing with physics. Stop being such a fucking fanboy and accept that he did a dirty hit. You've already admitted it was late, and you admitted Horton wasn't looking, and evidence shows it was to the head. That CLEARLY falls under: 48.1 Illegal Check to the Head ? A lateral or blind side hit to an opponent where the head is targeted and/or the principal point of contact is not permitted. I'm sorry if your hero got suspended for playing dirty, but please stop making an asshole out of yourself trying to defend it, it's not working. What's next, are you going to take on the cause of Burrows and act like he doesn't bite, dive or pull hair? |
Quote:
Honestly, I'd have no problem with the Canucks winning if Burrows wasn't a complete piece of shit player either. A team that talented doesn't need a guy playing so dirty and bringing it down. Sticking your leg over another players and falling back is an embarrassment to the team and the sport. |
Oops, I should have also added Lapierre with Burrows as players who should be playing soccer and winning there, not in the NHL https://youtube.com/watch?v=M9YNTSo9aeE I mean jesus, he gets tapped by the stick and acts like he got shot in the stomach all the way around the rink?
Gotta give him credit though, he definitely stayed in character the whole way through. They do really have to fix the way they call diving though. In that play, had they called him for embellishment, they would have had to call Chara for spearing. Same reason Lucic went when Burrows dove. |

I'm no Vancouver fan - can never forgive them for 1994 - but Horton was too busy admiring his pretty pass to realize he was going to get completely fucking murdered.
Oh, look! I made such a pretty pass! Maybe we'll score a goal! Go team go! I've got to get into position... SMASH! In every decade but this one, that was a clean hit. Rule Number 1: Do not watch the puck. |
Quote:
Players usually don't expect to get smashed through center ice a solid 10 feet after they've gotten rid of the puck. Should he have looked sooner? Yes. Should he have nearly had his head taken off because he didn't? No fucking way. You want to enjoy head hunting, pop in a VHS of old school hockey and jerk off all night if you want, but in TODAY'S NHL that was a nasty hit. I also don't give a fuck if you consider it a clean hit in every other decade. In other decades goalies didn't wear masks, players didn't weak helmets, goal posts were at the end zone, and baseball players didn't use gloves. Most people tend to learn from stupid decisions and correct them. Removing dirty hits like that is progression regardless how "purists" like it. It's like those morons who try and compare football hits from the 70's to now when players are much bigger and stronger, yet our bodies are still just as fragile. Like in porn, the NHL always needs to adapt or die. If they continue to be dominated by the ulf samuelsson's instead of the Cam Neely's, a 70's VHS tape may be all you'd end up having to remember the NHL by. Only psychopaths go to games to watch dirty players like samuelsson. |

I was trying not to talk about a specific game/series, but this series really is making me laugh sometimes at how 1 sided it is for the home team having the edge. I know Vancouver hasn't done as good as Boston at home when you look at the goals scored. But they have had an edge at the Roger's center. Happened again last night though. Back to Boston and Vancouver should have kept the goals against down like they have at home. But instead they go 4-0 down in 5 minutes and can't come back. So in theory, Wednesday should be Boston winning because they just dominated the Canucks again. They should have the momentum and they should know they can beat them. |

Has anyone else noticed this? Even the puck dumps and clearances off the boards seem to be going in favour to the home team. When Boston was in Vancouver on friday, they seemed to have trouble clearing the puck out of the Boston end, kept falling to a Vancouver player on the point and kept the pressure going against Boston. Then at the other end it seemed a lot easier for Vancouver to clear it from their ice into the neutral zone. Boston couldn't keep it in at the line to keep the momentum going. Then last night, apart from the last 4 minutes of Canucks pressure. Whenever Vancouver was in a similar situation the roles were reversed. Boston could clear easier (noticed it mostly when Vancouver were supposed to be on the powerplay) Vancouver struggled to get the puck out and it kept falling to Boston players more often. Maybe that is just me, but it seemed that way the last 2 games atleast. Didn't really notice it in the others but was probably happening then aswell. |
