which hit is worse? and you can't measure by your 'feelings'. |

I don't know what kind of hockey you play but definitely not the same one we do. |

My kid started playing full contact in pee wee... and when they played tournaments with Canadian teams those teams were not yet checking - plus the Canadian kids were required to wear neck guards. Nothing wrong with any of that... But it does suggest that the US programs are, well, just a wee bit... ummm... tougher. :winkwink: Chara did have a tough time with St. Louis because that little guy is tough and fast... but he didn't have to resort to head hits regardless of size difference. Now, before you get all canuck in my face... I should say that I am actually hoping Canucks take it. I play with a bunch of Boston fans and I will never hear the end of it if they win. |

Let me refresh your memory about Chara.. https://youtube.com/watch?v=mA_BDn37VSE PS: Your son and Joe must be playing in the same league |

By the way I want the cup in Canada this summer so I'm cheering for Boston considering they have more canadian players |

I am no Chara fan. I do think he gets away with a ton of dirty crap. Beside the big slapshot and the gargantuan reach the guy barely looks like like he can skate imo. I've said before, this is a mutant vs mutant situation... Two players that play as one in the Sedins and one player the size of two in Chara. Whichever comes out the winner gets to join the X-men... Did you play D or something? Because, seriously, you are being way too defensive. :thumbsup |
looked more like a pole to me

Last I checked, Rome isn't 6'9" And you're right, we don't play the same. I play the kind that requires ice, skates, a stick and a puck. You require the type that requires grass, huge nets, and a ball. Where I come from, it's never encouraged to bite, pull hair or dive. |

Interference (ice hockey), the penalty where a player impedes the movement of another player who does not have the puck the NHL doesn't 'agree', unless as in this case, the NHL decides to ignore it's own rules |

i was referring to what penalties could be attributed to the hits. the gentlemen i am speaking with stated that the horton hit was the more severe. |

again i am not saying that i believe 'nothing should be done'. and i, ahh, understand, the reasons behind the NHL but they're slashing, hitting, shoving hands in the mouths of, and all the while everybody seems to be focused on the big bad canucks, the smaller team. i don't really have any desire to further argue against american conditioning, may the best team win, and horton have a speedy recovery. |
Today I'm hearing that playoff tickets in Vancouver that were going for $1500 a pop for previous games are now selling for under $1000. I have to say... hmmm. They lose two on the road and this happens?
What's going on in Vancouver? Or am I/the media making too much of it? |

48.3 Major Penalty - For a violation of this rule, a major penalty shall be assessed (see 48.4). 48.4 Game Misconduct ? An automatic game misconduct penalty shall be assessed whenever a major penalty is assessed under this rule. You were saying? Unless you don't think hitting a person in the head who isn't looking at you doesn't quality as a blind side hit. Or maybe you think a boarding penalty is more severe than a game misconduct? Which one is it? |

I do agree the Ference hit should have been a penalty, but it simply isn't as bad as clearly targeted hit to the head of another player. There is no way that can be justified to me. |

But I'll be watching on the tube. Good TV service out there. |

And the puck is about to drop!!

Game 5 is OFF THE FREAKING HOOK!
The intensity is exactly what I was hoping for in this series. All Boston at times but Canucks have had their chances. |

What the hell, at one point in the 2nd the diving was insane. One Canuck player even touched his teammate's shoulder and THAT guy went down.
Anyone else see that? I laughed like hell. |
Don Cherry was right again. One more

I will say this Luongo has taken his abuse like a man over the years and not said a word. His own fans wanted him benched today. I would be happy to see him and a few others hoist the Cup ... but only a few others.

Good rally by Vancouver in the 3rd for the win. Nice tactical goal with Lapierre parking at the side of the net at the right time. But now they have to play back in Boston.... game 6 will be the real test.
Vancouver fans --- I'm not sure why but Vancouver seems to have an inordinate amount of dummies who like to bang on the glass every time the play comes within 5 feet of where they are sitting. I know this happens in a lot of other cities too, but Canucks fans at ice level seem to do it a lot. It's annoying. All those people yelling "LOUUUUU" every time Luongo touches the puck, well, gotta roll my eyes on that. It was mildly amusing a few years ago, for a while, but now it's just gotten kind of... old. Boston fans -- That song they play whenever the Bruins score at home.... not sure what to say about it. Oh yeah... it's dumb. Ha, there I said it. I'm hearing that Canucks fans wearing their team's jerseys who, while they left the Boston arena after games 2 and 3 were harrassed and phyically threatened by dumbass Boston fans. Hey idiots in Boston -- have some CLASS would you? Game 6 should be a barn burner. |

The Luoooo.is tradition,he needs the ego boost for him to play better, the Olympics are still fresh in the minds and he is one of the best The Boston thugs that are harassing the Vancouver fans is disgusting. They have never heard of sportsmanship in Boston, the lack of class and the way they say Baaa instead of Bar is hilarious Boston wins at home and Vancouver pulls it off in game 7.. 2-0..EA sports and Don Cherry as well as the parrot who picks the cards all can't be wrong. |

Score could've been more like 4-0 if they hadn't kept fanning shots on virtually empty nets too when Thomas was tossing around flipping and flopping like a salmon returning to spawn. Getting gun shy I suppose. |
