A photographer I work with down in Florida says he tosses a coin before every shoot to see if the model shows. LOL Part of the biz, just gotta cope with it. Kill fee sucks tho, I would've hit up the agent/agency for that.

I don't understand why you would need to pay a $600.00 kill fee. The agent was the person who cancelled the shoot....and that requires you to pay $600.00? What exactly is the purpose of paying the fee? What did you get in return from her? Absolutely nothing but a cancelled shoot. A shoot that wasn't even cancelled by you.

I've been shooting for 6 years now and have shot over 250 models and a kill fee is something that has never been discussed. I wouldn't care if the agent cancelled, the model cancelled or even if I cancelled a shoot, I ain't paying shit because of a cancellation. I do work with very amateur girls so perhaps there is a difference there but it still seems very odd to me that you would be required to pay because of a shoot that was cancelled by her agent. Perhaps, you are the one that should be getting paid for wasting your time by setting up a shoot for a model that wasn't even going to show up.

The kill fee was probably for the house rented for the shoot, those are expensive homes Dean rents and you can't just say 'oh the house i agreed to rent for 700 dollars, won't be needing it, model flaked' - plus he may have paid his assistant and the makeup artist a kill fee.

It sucks enough when models flake, but having to pay kill fees is even worse. I have been fortunate, because I have rarely had models flake on me.

It might be interesting to hear the model's and agents perspective(s). If anyone knows how to contact them, see if they want to respond to this thread.

BTW, who was Tiffany's agent in this instance? I would think that they would be liable for the kill fee or would make it up to Dean somehow, since agents collect kill fees for model's and themselves when projects are cancelled by the company/photographer that tried to book the model.

Finally, if you think Eddie really has a law "suite" (sic) filed against FTV/Rob, then see if Eddie can provide us with a case number, so that we can all see how "great" his suite is going. <crickets>

Wow, I'd quit the biz if my flake rate was over 40%! I shoot a lot of newbie girls that I have never even met before they show up on set the first time and I have no less than a 90%-95% success rate. If I suspect a model may not show up the night before or the morning of the shoot, I try to anticipate that and have another model as a backup for the same shoot or for a completely different shoot on my list so the day isn't wasted.

Dean what agency is she with. Im shooting quite consistantly and my flake ratio is almost non existant. I use mostly reputable agents tho as the $100 fee is well worth it. Also any kill fees incurred from a no show should be covered from the agent

I booked her through Roxy @ Metro. Never had any issues with Metro before the Tiffany situation.

If I had been in Roxy's shoes, I would have offered the producer my deepest apologies and offered to reimburse the kill fees or at least offered not to charge an agent fee until the kill fees were taken care of. So far, Roxy has offered nothing.

The only agent that I've ever delt with in LA that I felt really had my best interest at heart was Cam Smith. He always goes above & beyond the call of duty to make sure that I'm well taken care of. One of the most honest guys in the business. I wish I could give him all my business :thumbsup
