A group leader here said they have figured it out. Tax the top 1% at higher levels and use this money to pay for ObamaCare. So everyone is Covered and healthcare is paid for.

American based manufactures can not compete globally on price, can not compete globally with respect to labor cost and can not compete with respect to employee benefits as well. Manufactures in Japan, Korea, Germany, Canada etc. have no real burden of providing benefits to their employees. This is an advantage of socialized health insurance(not to be confused with socialized medicine, which is a debate for another time). IOW, yet another way that labor cost are minimized in other nations vs. here.


The US government has no choice but to default on Social Security/Medicare/etc. They won't default like some upside down, underwater mortgage owner that bit off more than he could chew and gets forcefully evicted from his residence...no. The government will have to raise the retirement age to 96 or something. And no, I am not overstating the pending disaster. This will happen in about 10 years...perhaps a little longer.


The only alternative is some form of Nationalized healthcare or Nationalized insurance. Either a government run single payer system, which would be a nightmare, or more likely, a massive reworking of the entire private Insurance industry to include government part-ownership(quasi-nationalization) and heavy regulation. Yet many people want to decrease tax revenues in light of this all-to-real impending economic apocalypse.

So as we all get swindled out of more and more of our own money....were gonna berate the few crazies?

Wasn't the banking crisis caused by the housing crisis? In other words everyone's homes going into foreclosure and property values dropping?

Well...if the federal govt. were on our side (which they are NOT)...they COULD have taken that TRILLION dollars and issued it out to homeowners to pay off their mortgages.

Then the banks wouldn't have needed to be bailed out, people wouldn't STILL be getting foreclosed on, and the housing market would have stabilized.

But our GOVERNMENT chose to give it straight to the banks instead (the same banks that are now adding billions of dollars in fees because they considered the loss of being able to charge exorbitant "fines" as a loss of "revenue")

Our govt. pretty much has ABSOLUTE power over us at this time in history. They decide what you can see and not see, read and not read, say and not say. They basically strip search us at airports. The Patriot Act allows them to do pretty much anything they want. Hell, you can't even drive your car without being told you HAVE to wear a seatbelt (of course that's a good idea to wear one, but being FORCED to by "law"?)

And the career politicians who spend their entire lives in govt. are the biggest thieves in the world.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. If our founding fathers were somehow transported into the present day...they would get a rope, find the closest tree and start hanging everyone in govt. for treason.

I'm the same way. I don't believe in being a Democrat or a Republican; I choose what seems right for me at that time. But the truth is we are voting for candidates based on a handful of debates, a few sound bites, and the wonderful ideas a candidates staff spins. At the end of the day it's a crap shoot - we aren't voting for the candidate, but instead what the candidate wants us to believe he (she) is all about.

It's comical watching some people on GFY talk about politics - They bitch about something Obama just did, but the truth is their party did the same thing four years ago. Then we have Obama saying this is the right direction to go in, but yet we have video tape of Obama saying the direct opposite three years ago? It's funny.
