Each day checking the .xxx availability of domains, and the list gets smaller and smaller. This is an adult list...

The creation of XXX was not desired by the industry, was not wanted by the industry but is a money making scheme.

It also covers you against any territorial blocks that may come in - eg. if someone from Australia ends up unable to see any .xxx sites they will just be blocked from shemp.xxx and everything on it, rather than going to shemp.com and then being annoyed by the block making a percentage of the listed links useless.

If something threatens the industry as a whole you're damn straight you should be against it. That's not sticking your head in the sand at all. The people who are being unrealistic are the ones just worried about their own bank account or saying everyone else is licking the dog's ass, I'd be crazy not to.

Personally I don't think .xxx is going to be as big as everyone thinks. Probably not much more than .co, .info, .biz or any of the other extensions. I think the guy that is selling the .xxx extension doesn't really expect it either or he wouldn't have priced them sky-high. If he had put them on the market at the .com price it would have become the 4th biggest after .com, .net and .org. A must have. Now it is more than 10 -15 years coming into the game and people think it is a gamechanger? I don't think so. The .xxx extension is going be a minority player and nothing more.

shemp here is some serious advice.

let your business be shaped by people on a message board who have never sent any money to you, never will, have no influence on people who do. consider the opinions of those who post about aspects of the business they are not part of, but who love to be part of the internet lynch mob of the week because it fulfills a psychological need for them. lose five customers in order to please the one who is a white knight for every in internet cause. take the opinions of those on message boards who will decry your business ethics but do the exact same thing behind your back. take a huge stand on a message board about something you have no control over in order to give yourself an illusory feeling of control.
