Had this guy been in a 1995 family sedan he would be balls deep in donations right now, on the front page of Reddit, trending on Twitter, interviewed by Fox News, etc. As we all know, the only reason this story is slightly interesting is because the guy was in a Porsche. Smart move by Yahoo to publish this, perfect understanding of the stupidity and predictability of the general public. The ironic thing is that after okaying this for publication, the boss probably drove his Porsche like an asshole all the way home. :1orglaugh Soccer moms get themselves into all kinds of stupid shit for completely selfish reasons EVERY SINGLE DAY and it never once makes the news... because they're behind the wheel of boring, cheap 5 year old SUVs.

Looking at the photos I see 1 cone that looks like it was placed by the construction workers digging him out... In the photo with the construction equipment, I don't see any cones but I do see a full line of cars behind the 911 in the same lane...

I'm not bashing the guy because he drives a Porsche, I'm bashing him because he's a reckless idiot. Also, I'm greatly exaggerating my anger. I really don't give a shit one way or another.

One time I ran out of gas because I passed a crappy getty station trying to make it to a shell station. So I had to push the car a few hundred feet: litterally from one gas station parking lot to another. I remember the road turned into a parking lot with people laughing at me pushing my porsche. I was amazed at how silly & jealous your average 9-5 40k a year schlep is. I really had to pause & take it all in. I mean, the car ran out of gas 200 ft before a gas station. I just don't see that as a knee slapping moment. I learned a lot about people that day.

I was driving a Gallardo Spyder around for a day, it was bright "fucking look at me" yellow... Apparantly when you hit some bumps the self levelling headlights can each turn themselves off until they re-calibrate. Anyway I was driving around in the dark with 1 headlight on for probably 2 hours, and no less than 12 people either yelled at me about it from red lights, the sidewalk, or even while driving beside me at 40mph.

Two weeks cruising around town in my Subaru with one headlight and not a peep from anyone.

I strongly disagree. I think if it was a mom driving a minivan filled with kids, the rhetoric would be just as unpleasant. Along the lines of "Irresponsible mother endangers children by trying to take shortcut and wrecks van into wet cement."

I definitely dont think people would be sympathetic just because she's driving a less expensive vehicle with kids, if anything people would be more angry.
