I don't recall it being an hour long. If you read the part where you said "and we can talk for an hour.. and i lose 60 bucks. Or you can email me.. and all we lose is your time" i took it as $1 per minute. Here I am talking about project that I was interested in having you do, which would have been worth what I would guess to be around $5,000 - $10,000, and all you can worry about is your $1 per minute.

Here you are, making what you claim to be 6 figures and yet you're worried about going over details of a project and your $1/minute fee? get a grip. You sit there and wrote in a previous email how you wanted you clients to know what they want. What they're going for, and to be specific, and yet when that information is trying to be delivered to you all you're worried about if $1/minute?

Sure, we could have passed emails back and forth for days and days and days trying to explain the intricacies of what it was I am working on but you know what, I have better things to do with my time than to sit there and wait for responses back and forth. The information you would have needed would have been covered in an hour or two of chat rather than a week of sending emails back and forth.

You really have no grasp for business.

Well we will never know. At the time I was 50/50 unsure if you were a genuine customer or not. From my experience, the guys that have worked with designers before know we dont like to sit around chatting as it stops us working.

It's usually the noobs with big dreams that think you do this for a hobby and have all day to talk to them.

In all likelyhood I wouldn't have taken your gig anyway. We like to do quick punchy gigs that take no more than a few days max. $10K would mean we would be devoted to you for a conciderable amount of time. Negleting our other clients.

My guy from India does a good job making those too, less than $XX per hour too :)

My Indian employee's got a portfolio that puts her's to shame. He charges $25 per DESIGNED PAGE. If I place the order tonight, it's completed by the time I wake up in the morning. Can't beat that.

Mind giving me his contact info / website address? We only do software and are looking for a designer for some of our upcoming projects. Well, either that or eventually get someone in house, but wouldn't hurt to have his info on file.

Well we dont have a programmer. So no.. we can only do what is in our service range. Which is design and intergration.

I have passed on his info once just last week and someone from here insulted him somehow...so I don't really want to take the chance of him not wanting to do work for me because I referred him a bunch of assholes. Not saying you are of course, just that most here are and I don't want to risk it.

Understood, no problem. Just for the sake of argument, i wouldn't be offending him, of course, hah. Concrete example, i'm losing a couple good bucks on a designer that failed to deliver a project and i take it as it is, shit happens, business is business.

I agree with you notjoe... spending some time with customers is part of business... I have found over the years, that spending a little extra bit of time with my customer has always paid off for me... You never know how that customer, who apparently is thought of as small or not knowing what they are doing, will turn out for your business... it's usually a long term loyal person who not only gives you their business but spreads the word around more on how great it is to work with you...

I like your grasp in business Joe... If you need a good designer let me know babe... Don't mind spending time with anyone... I like to get to know everyone I work with, and it doesn't take much time do it AT ALL... :thumbsup
