Ray, What's up? I shot an email as well awhile ago, not sure how long ago. You have good products, you need to answer emails and respond to them. I have myself and 2 other people relying on a server that I have no idea if protected or not.

Actually I do know, it's not. I switched servers and you didn't get back to me or my host.

If you read this Ray, you desperately need a ticket system and then stay on top of that system. You're going to start losing customers otherwise.

Ray has an awesome product and in the past was always excellent with support, but recently has totally dropped the ball with support. I've been waiting a week myself since my last email to them. It took my brother two months (yes, you read that right) to get a reply after multiple attempts to contact them, and he paid for their extra support. :Oh crap

Does anyone have hands on experience with Proxypass? Like are they prompt with service, how long to install, and has it worked well compared to Strongbox? I see that it's been around for a long time which I like, I'm way too nervous to try something new, but I can't seem to find much more info on it.

I'm currently moving from strongbox to proxypass.

I'll do a review.

i moved to proxypass

So, I finally moved from strongbox to proxypass 2 weeks ago.

why? : moving to a new host => i got an old strongbox version => strongbox issue on the new server=> nobody from bettercgi answered my emails/requests/update order => time to find an alternative.

First of all, proxypass support is totally great, fast and reliable.
They scheduled an install time with my server admin easily and all went fine.
It took 4 days (it could have taken less: i ordered a friday night, my admin server wanted to monitor what they were doing. If i had sent them temp ssh access to the server right after they asked for it, it could have been installed in few hours)

Once it's done, they send you plenty of information regarding the software, the install and how to get started.

I had questions which were answered in few hours. Each time, They sent me a very (i mean VERY VERY) detailed explanation .

They even contacted me because they were thinking of a problem after visiting my website which was still using stongbox and not their software they just intsalled. (i still had not changed the dns at that time).

About the software itself :

it's seems to be a fine protection system. But I need more time to test its effectiveness. it looks promising.

As you may not know, proxypass is an apache module, which means it doesn't protect only one site, it protects all your server. It guards as many sites/areas as you want (members, admin, back office) without any additionnal setup/conf or fee.

it allows you to setup rules about download volumes, number of connections etc...(strongbox doesn't do that, you have to purchase throttle box, i believe)

The admin panel to manage blocks(IPs or usernames) is clean and simple, they could add some basic features though.

Until now, i'm more than happy. Especially because when i shoot an email to the support, i'm sure someone will answer it fast and nicely (even if i ask for silly things).

To my mind, proxypass is worth a try.

You might use those tools to check if your site is secure:

So it's been a few months now...still happy with Proxypass? Just wanted to get a longer term option of it, as I figure by now you've had time to have your sites attacked, etc so maybe it's had some real world testing by now.

You can't go wrong with proxypass. Been using it for a very long time.

Still happy but they really need to add more basic features in the admin area.
You should try it.

Yes, please reply Strongbox people! I had the strongbox installed yesterday, which is great, however we have noticed that our members area database is all messed up due to the installation. I have emailed you guys 6 times today, its now been 24 hours that our members can not access all the content. This is unacceptable. Please reply asap, or at least on here. I am very concerned at the delay in response to urgent support contacts, we are in the UK can understand the timezone difference, but its now been 24 hours.
