The kardashians would argue until death that they've worked hard to earn every single penny though and who could actually deny that that is true?
The whole notion and unspoken premise of class warfare is such a load of shit. Don't believe it for a moment. I'll agree right now that everyone in america should pay 25% on their income no matter where it comes from starting........... now. |

I think the repubs weren't ready for the dems to eschew their normal pussy routine and start landing body blows. Like B Maher said the other night, "some say Obama's too white, but he fights black." |

If it's going to be a no-deductions flat tax system (which I think it should be), it needs to be a lower rate than that. I can't even imagine how people have any money left over after taxes now anyway. Especially in states with high state income tax. Living here in Nevada eliminated that for me. But they more than make up for it with high sales tax on everything. Plus the national gasoline tax. Plus my property tax. Plus the super high cost each year of registering your vehicles (which is really just a tax). And then the fees and business licensing... I give more to govt (federal, local, and state) than I give to my own kids. :( |

A progressive tax is totally sensible. I WANT to pay higher taxes on my 250,000th dollar than I do on my $40,000th. Give me the lower tax rate when I really NEED it, I'll make it up by paying more when I really can SPARE it. http://i.ytimg.com/vi/eg0dOBiy_qc/0.jpg |

If you made 1 million dollars this year and paid a 15% flat tax...you would be writing the federal govt. a check for $150,000 That's WAY more than a guy making $50,000 is going to pay in. Yet you wouldn't be getting any more federal public services than the guy making $50,000 and paying $7,500 It doesn't seem fair to me at all. But that is just my opinion. Also keep in mind that if you made a million dollars a year...you very likely would purchase many more things because of your money. So you would not only be helping the economy...but also paying a LOT more state sales tax than the guy making $50,000 You would also very likely own a fairly expensive home and end up paying a LOT more in property taxes. You know what I'm saying. So yeah...a federal flat tax seems a lot more fair to me. And I'd bet that "rich" guys would actually end up paying a lot more in taxes than they currently do with all the deductions they can take. The rich already pay the overwhelming majority of taxes in this country. And look what the feds do with it. Wars. Funneling money back to their cronies. And a lot of our hard earned money is going to pay the principle on the debt they have incurred. I think instead of trying to take other people's money...we should get our govt. under control first. |
