It's like anything, too much it turns into a bad thing. I only play when it's a $100 million or more and in a convenient position to buy a ticket, like I am getting gas etc. Other then that, a very slight thought of winning, but enough to keep me focused 10 minutes or so on what I'd buy if I won.
Interestingly enough, the things in those ten minute thoughts spurred by a simple $2 ticket usually end up being bought anyway later in life.

Yeah, I understand ya... I just feel it's a waste after watching my dad play all my childhood... Those numbers are just if all you did was buy a single $2 ticket every week... But most people who would play the lottery like that buy 5+ each week plus do other things like scratch off tickets and even gambling at a casino.
My dads gambling warped me and I don't gamble anymore. I'm 27 and have never bought a scratch ticket, only gambling at a casino I've done was on someone else's dime (grandma mostly when we go for family things or something) and only thing I've done with my own money was those games that spit out tickets and are exchangeable at bars and shit... $1 and cashed out at $11 when I was ahead, haha.
