The only real reason you buy a Ferrari over a Corvette is because you can.

"Chevy is clearly hoping to deliver the sort of sports car that can challenge global leaders like Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini. "We set out to build a world-challenging sports car with design, refinement, efficiency and drive engagement that is second to none," declared Tadge Juechter, the program’s chief designer" http://www.nbcnews.com/business/chev...sche-1C6770742 |

In total, Corvette Racing's C5-Rs would earn 31 class victories in the American Le Mans Series, three class wins at Le Mans, and one overall victory at Daytona. |
hot on the heels of the announcement that Cadillac would be moving their brand upmarket to compete more directly with their German rivals, Chevrolet has now announced that the next generation of the Corvette will be a closer rival to cars from Ferrari and Porsche. The seventh generation of the Corvette is due to make its first public appearance in January at the Detroit Auto Show, ahead of going on sale for the 2014 model year.

Given today's very-reliable prototype cars, there is nearly no chance a GT car (either Pro or Amateur) is ever going to outright win LeMans. It just can't happen. The speed differentials between the classes is almost laughable. Like it or not, LeMans is 4 races not 1. There are 4 classes, with cars in each vying for the podium in their class. That's right. Each class gets a podium with a celebration of the first 3 places. And in this case Corvette took top honors in GT Pro. A privateer in a Corvette took top honors in GT Am, as well, which was a nice touch. So, yes, Audi won their class, which happens to also be the fastest class in the race. Corvette won their class which isn't the fastest in the race. |

and I'm not really sure there is anything wrong with the perception of the vette... we all know what the vette is and isn't ... seems like just a few TV reality stars and some other dipshits are confused mainly |

Just depends on how far you're taking it? There are bikes at bonneville that have land speed records...just as there are jet fueled drag cars that well never know how fast they can go. No way a Bette is more fun than a sportbike tho.. Deals gap, a track day or just wailing down an interstate two wheels wins every time.

I'd have a bike, if I wasn't such a pussy. I witnessed a horrific bike accident right in front of me years ago and can't forget it. |

Speed comparisons like this are fun, but they try to pair the top speed of the car with the price, as if speed was the only thing of value. It's not.

Everyone likes different things - deal with it. Fucking bike faggots are worse than mac fanboys. |
What's the perception of the Nissan GTR in America? because that's what is touted as a bargain supercar here.

i would rather a Audi

at the end of the day you would have a cheaper car , compared to a ferrari
seriously is not about the performance, otherwise you could buy a 10yr old Yzr 1000 and blow both away. You really think that the guy near my office in a chrome wrap veyron cares that a vette is faster, his wife has a matte white one and has probably used it about 3 times last year as she prefers the maybach |

In my opinion, I would rather go for something meaner and more power than the Ferrari 458 for around the same price. My choice would be the Lambo LP 600-4 Superleggera http://www.pakwheels.com/blog/wp-con...rleggera_1.jpg |

I was going to look for the Nurburgring time last night but I fell asleep. Surprised the GTR is slower actually.
