I didn't think about no smoking, i thought it was allowed there so i lighted up a cigarette. 2 guys who apparently were some sort of civilian dressed cops/security or something, jumped up, marched to the table military style, and snatched the cigarette aggressively like a couple of crazy retards, all in a time span of 5 seconds. I was baffled. Wtf is up with that? They reacted like a pulled the pin out of a hand grenade. Is this normal there?

At this point it is fair to say that about anyone defending the actions and ridiculous searches of the TSA.

Who cares about government reports nowadays? Every such a case turns into the news of the day in the Internet almost immediately. It may be a surprise for you, but the Internet works the same way in both Russia and USA.

Do you still believe in Santa? So-called "mail order brides" is a well known scam like Nigerian emails. Try to "order a bride from Russia" when come back and tell us how many $$$ you have lost to the scummers :pimp

When you hear about something, try to think about it critically. If somebody (say a young woman) want to go to the States, why the hell she will be do it so in stupid and long way as "bride agency"? She can simple apply for a 3-year US visa ($160 only), wait for a week or two and go there whenever she want? I believe it wouldn't be so easy for Russians to get the US visa, if there will be a lot of illegal immigrants from here :2 cents:

You're right, the internet does work the same way in both countries. That means you have access to Wikipedia's list of countries by intentional homicide rate. I can't link to it, but just look it up. Russia has a rate of 10.2 homicides per 100,000 vs the US' rate of 4.8.

The police here don't stop real crime so they do this to make themselves seem relevant.

They really should just ban smoking inside in CZ already like the rest of Europe. Although I guess it's a bit difficult to do so considering Philip Morris has half of the CZ senate on payroll...:disgust

So what? Do we speak about people killed by police or about unemployed alcoholics killing each other with a kitchen knife at their own apartments while drinking hootch (over 70% of all homicide cases in Russia)?

P.S. As about the homicide rate. Seems you don't know that a part of Russia (Muslim North Caucasus) is actually at anti-terror war (Chechnya, Ingushetia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria) where people gets killed left and right. Does Wikipedia told you that any war does dramatically increase the total homicide rate for a country?

Indeed. Where's the cavity search? As a result of her unwillingness to cooperate they really should have invaded her innards.

Police state my ass!

lighting up a cigarette in a McDonalds is an asshole move though - it's clearly a non-smoking restaurant. everywhere in the world - even here in CZ

It's nothing more than a drug search, they aren't looking for "bombs"...and have NEVER found one either.
They couldn't do that shit legally before 9-11

Now the general public in the U.S. is so scared that they will let the govt. treat them like criminals so they feel "safe".

Sad state of affairs. When I go through the airport now, all I can think of is: The "terrorists" won.

Didn't they find the explosive in the water bottles? But how many people know about the search and thus aren't stupid enough to bring a bomb on board?

I've been to many places and I prefer southern Europe (Catalonia is my favorite). Both Russia and USA have about the same summarized value of pros and cons. I'm thinking to move from Russia but I would never ever consider the USA or Ukraine though :2 cents:

Not very impressive in my opinion. How many BILLIONS are we spending on this invasion of our privacy?

And not one mention of drugs; you would think if that was their goal they would mention them at least once.

Can't comment on the stats but it's enough to see what's going on in the USA nowadays.
Yeah, Central Urop doesnt have any sea and the weather sucks donkey balls, so Spain, Italy, Greece seem likeable weather wise, but I always hated 'maniana' style they have in everything ... Still would prefer 'something slavic' not far away from the sea :)

Too bad it's way too hard to go to New Zealand - fucking hard to prove shit.

Ukraine... I never said I'd recommend anyone, I strongly recommend not to.

before the smoke ban here in holland you could smoke in mcdonalds.

edit: Looked it up, until 2008 it was allowed here. So im not talking about decades here. It was about that time i was in cz. So its not an 'asshole move' of someone who isnt used to that, didnt give it any second thought.

Not really, just go to NYC and then back to Moscow to find out.

DWB 05-30-2013 03:52 PM

I easily fly in and out of communist China, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, and even Cuba on occasion with 100% less headache than I do my home country (USA). Myanmar for fucks sake!!!! Something is really backwards there.

Now that I think of it, I can't think of any other nation in the world I have ever visited that is more hassle, or even close to the hassle, that matches the headaches I've had flying into and out of the USA, and I'm an avid traveler. My home country is a royal pain in the ass and often treats me like a criminal, asking intrusive questions, often searching my bags as if I'm running drugs, and being overall dickheads upon entering the country or dealing with security.

Kudos to those of you who have just been lucky enough to not have any bad experiences with them yet. Because once you do, they continually fuck with you as if one day you're going to break and admit to being a pedophile drug mule or something.

If I'm not mistaken, Japan has the last McDonalds you can smoke in, and that is going to change here soon.

Another attention whore on YouTube.

Moving on..

Robbie 05-30-2013 04:50 PM

I didn't see the govt. running in and doing all the shit they are doing now for any of these over the decades:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...aft_hijackings

I remember in the 1970's it seemed like everytime I turned on the news there was another plane being hijacked.
And in the 1980's...planes being blown up in mid-air.

And yet we still weren't treated like criminals when we boarded a plane.

A few guys with box cutters on 9-11...and now we have to have this SECURITY to feel "safe" on a plane.

Read a little of that list guys...then realize how much of an over-reaction the TSA is to what actually happened.

Ok, I lied. It's not hidden or deep.
