Only 3 of those would I consider craft, and they are all by Lost Coast . . . one of my least favorite CA breweries.

I know very little about craft beers compared to you Lloyd. I have never been there and I think I tried Lost Coast once and didn't like it. The last craft beeer place I went to and really loved was Tony's darts away , everything was on tap, no bottles. They even had Orange Creme Soda on tap.

Their Great White sucks, they have an Indica IPA that is pretty good.

There are several beer brewers that also do soda, Goose Island for example. I would venture to say their root beer is better than 95% of the beer they brew (giving them the benefit of the doubt, that they must have something I haven't tried that I like)

On a road trip a couple years ago we stumbled onto Main Street Brewing in Cortez, CO - This guy brewed at least 9 different beers, raised his own Black Angus cattle for his burgers and steaks and brewed root beer and cream soda. It was so good that we made a +100 mile detour the next day to come back for lunch . . . and made a 500 mile detour to return a couple years later.

I had a crafted Root Beer at Tony's that really brought back memories of my childhood, back when they had real root beers. People now a days have no idea what a real root beer is suppose to taste like

Thanks for the link, I'm looking forward to the road that goes east from Redding California thru Weaverville on thru to the coast. It's a beautiful drive, but never done that on a bike, that's why HOG has an annual event there every year

Hell Yeah! that looks like an awesome multi-day trip, up to Redding then across the 229 to the 101 south to 1 then all the way home down PHC, just added to my "To Ride Soon" list.

I've spent the last year exploring the roads around the Central Coast and if you ever find yourself riding through the Santa Maria area and get a little hungry head to Nipomo and give Jocko's a try, without a doubt One Of The Best Steaks I Have Ever Had In My Life.

Electric motorcycles would suck

pashnit is a good forum, and I did get good advice on there before doing a trip.

I even documented my trip on there, 7500 miles on a honda rebel 250:
http://www.pashnit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18512

That thread has over 120,000 views as of now. Did the trip just over 5 years ago and had a hell of a time camping out by myself and staying with strange old folk I met off of craigslist.
Honda's are dependable. It was fun knowing there was only 20hp between my legs that was propelling me across America.

It's inspired half a dozen people to do the same thing.

congrats Vendzilla, that's a nice looking Road King, a sportster is way too small for extended trips. You're going to have an amazing time on that thing exploring California roads.

While picking up a part at the local Harley shop the other day another customer told me about http://pashnit.com/ it may be helpful in planning your rides around the state.

When we looked at the bikes, my GF kinda went straight to this one, she didn't want the flying couch, but still wanted comfort for a long ride. The orange is a classic Harley color. Going to take the morning off after giving her a ride to work and ride around a little. Having date night at a restaurant called the Six tonight.

Love the colour and is a fabulous bike :)

My sporty spends a lot of time on the lift so it needs to be small :)

Cool you found the story.
The honda rebel 250 is actually 233cc (labeled 250 in order to make it legal in all states for highway use (I believe).
The bike was almost exclusively full throttle the entire trip.

I recall being on I-10 through Texas, floored doing about 78mph and having large trucks like Ford F-350's passing me doing 90-95mph.
Where they were getting 10 or so mpg I was still getting 55 or so. :)

Had anything happened, it would have been the end of me.

It's still insane thinking I cruised at 75mph on some of the busiest interstate sections in North America at 2 or 3 am.

They tried to put me on a rebel for motorcycle safety course, no way! They let me run one of the trail bikes instead so I didn't have my knees in my chest

Vendzilla 08-06-2013 08:42 AM

Off to Glendale Harley. Need a pouch to hold the two remotes I need to get to my garage and not have to dig thru the saddle bags or keep them both in my pocket

he ven, you planning on doing any more mods? if your like me you are but you're still recovering from having to roll pennies to get on a h-d lolz

anyhoo, an inexpensive mod for baggers (and dynas) is the swingarm brace, the way that swingarm is linked to the fame makes it sloppy, you'll feel it.

this fixes that, there are someother makes too, progressive suspension, and yo being a big fella + riding 2 up, you will love this mod!

Thanx for the link, already added a little pressure to the air ride. I could see doing this in the future. I got my daughter visiting at the end of the month and will spending some money on her I'm sure. She only has a year left to get her degree, then it's off to grad school for her.
I did add a small pouch on the windshield to hold the remotes for getting into the garage, and the parking. I found one at Harley that had studs to match the ones on the Le Pera seat. Had a little clock from Harley on it, I had to replace the watch battery on it.
First thing I want to do is replace the grips, it has the OG on it, I hate those.

Looks cool!! It's nice to see someone purchase using hard earned cash!

Lloyd knows, there is no substitute for what you feel on a Harley

Just adjusted the air ride, one shock was empty. Big change by adding a little pressure.

Going to Route 66 tonight in Valencia. My buddy who's going with me said a lot of bikes meet there every Wednesday night.
