Geez Richard, quit trying to put a spin on everything.

I gave credit to Clinton working with Newt, but the only way you can debate that is this?

I didn't put spin on anything. You said: "Clinton had a surplus because of Newt working with Clinton". Did you give Clinton credit, but you implied that the only reason it happened was because of Republicans.

Again, you are making this into an Obama issue when it's really not - The US has given aid to Egypt no matter who is in power or what they've done. Funny, don't recall you complaining about the Bush administration giving aid to Egypt when Mubarak was in power.

You do this all the time - The US does something for years and it's perfectly fine, but now suddenly it's an issue because Obama is in power.

To answer your question directly.... I've stated here on GFY multiple times that the US shouldn't be giving aid to anyone, including Israel and Egypt.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/...125_story.html

The NSA audit obtained by The Post , dated May 2012, counted 2,776 incidents in the preceding 12 months of unauthorized collection, storage, access to or distribution of legally protected communications. Most were unintended. Many involved failures of due diligence or violations of standard operating procedure. The most serious incidents included a violation of a court order and unauthorized use of data about more than 3,000 Americans and green-card holders.

Did you read this fully? It's comical.

Seems there was a typo and someone confused the 20 country code with the 202 area code for Washington DC. This accounted for more than half of the incidents. The other half was because they were tapping cell phones of forginers out of the US, and broke the law because they entered the US and the NSA wasn't aware of it - being as it's all automated and what not.

We waited months for this information and that's all they got? Types and mistakes?

But of course the Republican sites you read must have their panties in a bunch because this was big news. This is like the IRS story - it's a non story. IT's a bunch of people getting excited because they wish it was a story.

They worked together, Clinton and Newt, sorry you can't see that, I'm giving credit to both of them.
Obama can't seem to get anything done with the other side, because he's a bad leader

They are having a coup, we BY LAW are not suppose to give aid to any country during a coup, what part of that didn't you understand, Direct Fiesta got it, why can't you?

Go bury your head in the sand, you just can't believe that they are doing anything wrong, they can admit to it and you still don't see they are doing anything wrong, quit trying to act like a brick wall to be shouted at! Fuck, we as Americans are by our own laws illegally giving aid to them as they kill hundreds of their own people and you think that's all right, that's pretty fucked up Richard

That's just it in a nutshell, if you complain about the present administration, you must be either a nut job tea party, republican or a racist. You would think people in this industry would be open to more than that, but that's how they do it, turn us against each other. I have never in my life seen people so divided. They can't even see the fact. As long as their party is winning.

Fuck being a democrat or a republican, I'm an American and the shit they are doing in Washington is fucked up!

I don't care about this... We shouldn't be supporting other countries when we are broke, period. We need a law that says just that.

I'm not burying my head in the sand at all. You only tend to point out problems and then complain about the current administration.

The Egypt aid issue is the perfect example. You never complained about aid to Egypt when Bush sent aid to a thirty year dictator who put tens of thousands of his citizens in prison. But right here right now you are concerned about this law "because we are sending them aid" - Which might not be true at all. (Can you tell us exactly what aid has been given to Egypt in the past thirty or sixty days?) I would assume any aid would be on hold being as we aren't exactly sure who is in charge this week.

You complain about a lot of things and blame them all on Obama. Yet you didn't seem to be too concerned about any of these items when Bush was in office.

No I gave credit to Clinton for working with the Republicans on several matters, I applaud that he did this and got things done, I also applaud when Reagan worked with Tip on Social Security.
The Barry just won't have any of that, working with the other side!

We support other countries, am I for that, only when they really need it. The president is breaking the law by continuing to send them aid because of the coup

I have complained about us sending aid to foreign countries on several occasions.

Bush didn't brake the law, Obama is doing it NOW!

As far as are we still sending them aid, read the article! You can Google it more and find the same thing.

Also, about the NSA
In October 2011, months after the program got underway, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court ruled that the collection effort was unconstitutional. The court said that the methods used were ?deficient on statutory and constitutional grounds,? according to a top-secret summary of the opinion, and it ordered the NSA to comply with standard privacy protections or stop the program.

Guess what, they never did, so there you go about them never doing anything illegal!

Don't forget we are NUMBER ONE in the world for having our own citizens in prison. Nobody else is even close.

I don't know much about the history of Egypt... But....

If I recall correctly the former dictator of Egypt - Mubarak - declared "emergency law" for just under thirty years in which the government had massive, sweeping powers, and arrested thirty thousand people simply for being enemies of the state.

And they probably were enemies of the state in the middle of crazy-muslim-land.

That's why he was able to have a peaceful and prosperous Egypt and keep international trade flowing through the Suez Canal.

After the shit happened in Iraq...I've begun to think that the people in those middle eastern countries have a society that requires a dictator/"strongman" to keep them from total chaos.

Saddam kept shit under control in Iraq, and Mubarak kept things calm in Egypt.
We should have kept our noses out of Egypt's situation instead of Obama saying that Mubarak "has to go" at the time.

Barry screwed the pooch in this one, and he knows it. Basically the Muslim Brotherhood is trying to gain control, this is bad for the US because the Muslim Brotherhood doesn't want the US to have any influence over them. I agree with that much, let them run themselves.

But the law states that when they are in a coup, we are to stay the fuck out. The Military killed over 500 people this week. Barry needs to cut support of that kind of shit!

This article is about a bill to stop aid from being sent, but no where does it say that aid has in fact been sent since the coup. Does the article say "We gave them twenty tanks last week" or does the article "We gave them twenty planes last week"? No, it doesn't.

The Republicans have their panties in a bunch saying "Obama is breaking the law" without even having a record of what has been sent.

This is the NSA crap and the IRS crap all over again. It's really a non story. The Washington Post released their documents about the NSA, and turns out that the NSA made a few mistakes (and then reported itself).... Hardly the smoking gun you all thought it was... And the IRS? I don't think that you can possibly compare arresting crazed muslims who plot to assassinate you and take over the country to any possible scenario you might have in your head.

Mubarak did what he had to do to keep order in a country that is targeted by Muslim extremists for takeover.

Here in the U.S., we have one of every 200 people in jail.

For anybody in this country to point fingers at any other country for how many people they have in jail for ANY reason is just plain out hypocrisy.

We need to fix our own govt. and get our citizens out of jail...we are all potential "customers" for the giant prison industrial corporations.

And our police and judicial system has become nothing more than a way to feed the beast.

That was my point.

Our govt. ALWAYS claims that other countries have people in jail for "disagreeing" with their govt.
But here in America, I KNOW we never get the full story. Our media doesn't report accurately at home...and is especially inaccurate about news from other countries.

I'm sure you've traveled enough around the world to have seen that with your own eyes at this point.

this is the new buzz phrase i guess, 'prison industrial complex'. They're in jail for a reason, they broke the law. There should be more in jail, the white collar scumbags need to be put in the same prisons with the blacks, latinos and white trash, might see a big decrease in corruption if some bankers, lawyers and politicians were sharing cells with rapists and murderers.

How many of your friends and family are in jail?

I love it Richard, they admit to breaking the law and you say it's ok

We're funding a military that killed 636 people, you like that?

Ok, here's how it works, try to pay attention

US taxpayers could take a hit if the aid pipeline is shut down. A special arrangement known as cash flow financing lets Egypt and Israel make arms purchases from the United States against promises of future aid and pay for things over time - like a credit card.

The Pentagon declined to discuss what amounts might be outstanding under Egypt's cash flow financing arrangement, but analysts say it is at least $2 billion.

"So Egypt has used its credit card recently to buy an additional squadron of F-16 (fighter jets) and an additional batch of M1A1 (tank) kits," said Robert Springborg, a professor of national security affairs at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

"If suddenly we were to say, you are not sending those F-16s or those M1A1 kits, then the question arises what's going to happen to them. If nothing else can be found to be done with them, then the US government would be liable to be sued by the manufacturers ... The estimated outstanding amounts are somewhere between $2.3 billion and $3.5 billion," Springborg said.

Under cash flow financing, multi-year contracts may be signed and payment schedules are prepared. This allows for the award of contracts that are more than the annual appropriation for a country, as long as the payments estimated in the out years are within the traditional amount of aid. Springborg said Egypt had contracts going out until 2017.

Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy, who chairs the Senate subcommittee in charge of foreign aid, has long been a critic of the cash flow financing.

"This arrangement, which has been on autopilot for decades, has gotten us into a situation where we have mortgaged ourselves well into the future for equipment which is not necessarily needed, for a military that can't be trusted, and that is costing us huge amounts of money," he said in a statement emailed to Reuters.

Cutting military aid to Egypt also would leave some US defense companies looking elsewhere for clients. Joel Johnson, an analyst with the Virginia-based Teal Group, said it could lead to layoffs in Lima, Ohio, where General Dynamics Corp is building kits to upgrade 125 M1A1 Egyptian tanks.

Johnson said a US aid shut-off also would hit small to medium-sized suppliers that provide components for the tank, which are often more vulnerable than the prime contractors. One industry official said some 500 suppliers could be hurt.

General Dynamics won the tank contract valued at $395 million in 2011. It builds the hulls and various parts and then ships the kits to Egypt for final assembly, said company spokesman Rob Doolittle. He declined to comment on the possible impact of a decision to cancel the Egyptian tank order.

The Lima facility has been counting on foreign orders and smaller contracts with the US government to remain open, given the US Army's plans to "pause" production of heavy ground vehicles for the United States.

Obama's announcement Thursday that the United States was canceling joint military exercises with Egypt was the first significant US move to penalize Egypt's military rulers after the ouster of Morsi. Previously, the US government had announced a decision to halt delivery to Egypt of four US-made F-16 fighters.

Fort Worth-based Lockheed Martin is under contract to supply 20 F-16s to Egypt at a cost of $776 million. Spokesman Ken Ross said 14 of the planes have been delivered through June 30, including seven this year.

STOP cutting and pasting from websites that are full of bullshit and half truths that cherry pick stats.

From your article: The Pentagon declined to discuss what amounts might be outstanding under Egypt's cash flow financing arrangement

So in other words, we STILL don't know if anything has been sent to Egypt.

On top of this, it seems the aid was already paid out at the beginning of year. We aren't sure what Egypt has collected yet, or if anything is due, not to mention the legal aspects here. If we signed something in January saying that they get 10 F16s, are still legally required to give it to them because the air was promised / given before the coup?

Can Obama legally stop this, or was it part of a bill created by Congress that the President had already signed off on and cannot cancel?

You put up a link to Rand Paul's bill to stop the aid, yet it didn't go anywhere. Why is that?

Before you even answer any of those questions, you need to figure out if a coup took place. It might even be possible he stepped down.

You do this all the time. You make mountains out of molehills. "The IRS is acting under orders from the very top" (The White House wasn't even involved) and then "The NSA under Obama is breaking the law" (The documents were printed by the Washington Post and it was so obvious that it was a non story that no one even posted about it here, and this is all under the Patriot Act that another president started.).

The problem is the Republicans are so fucking pissed about what's happening that they'll reach for anything. The economic mess that Bush left behind, then McCain and Palin, and the (oh god) Romney.... The past six - eight years has been nothing but failure on the part of the Republicans. Brett, it's so bad right now that the Republicans got beat twice by an little known black man from Hawaii - twice.

The Republican party needs to stop crying like kids on a playground who lost their kickball game. They need to come up with a plan and then find a candidate that can pull it off. If Hillary is running the Republican might just have a chance.

How many of your friends and family are in jail?

This is what happens when you have a 'prison industrial complex'

This judge got over 2 million dollars from the 'prison industrial complex' for putting kids in jail for everything from ditching school to talking trash about the school principal on myspace. But you want more in jail.

I don't like Hillary at all.

Hillary is the perfect example of what we do not need - she's a ticket puncher. They sat down and said "here are the steps you need to take to get to the White House in the shortest amount of time" and she did the bare minimum of what was required. What I hate the most is how they went about doing it - they picked a seat she knew she could win in the US Senate, in NY, that gave her the combination of an easy win and just enough clout to be something in the US Senate (as opposed to returning home to Arkansas and running there).

I think that's horrible.

I have yet to see anything she has ever done that is worth writing home about. Then again, nor did Obama, Romney, or Palin.

Sometimes I wonder if we just picked someone at random if they would do better. If they were to pick someone who worked as a cashier in a gas station or a dishwasher, they might have a much better view of what the American cross section of society might be. Who would be better to lead the country - Hillary who has lived a life of privilege for the past thirty years, or the gas station cashier who is single with a child and can't afford healthcare no less a vacation.

Dude...the majority of them are in jail for drug charges and other stupid shit.

Robbers, thieves, murderers, rapists...yes. They SHOULD be in jail.

People who get caught getting high in states with the "3 strikes" bullshit...fuck no.

Before you get too far in your opinion on this, I just ask that you do some research about what's happened in the country regarding this. It's pretty brutal.

And when you step back and think about it a minute...it's all about OTHER people telling YOU that you aren't allowed to smoke a joint, or do a line of coke.
Reality is...it's none of their fucking business. But they made a LAW against it.

And those laws have had the same results for drug prohibition as they did for alcohol prohibition.
It's led to unbelievable violence and crime.

And most of it is based on the stupid ass 70 year old movie "Reefer Madness" which was put together by a church group in 1936.

Then when Nixon started the "War On Drugs" 40 years ago, it was off to the races for the Prison industry.

You can call it a buzz word all you want to. But it's a FACT.

I don't want to debate it with you. I just want you to google a few things, and think about it. I'd sincerely like you to check it out and change your mind.
In my opinion, our country needs to have people taking a good look at this and putting an end to it. And if you can change your mind about it after looking at it closely....then that's one more person. :)
