And the info on the BUK missile system might be far off. ABC News just said the BUK missile was designed to hit US spy planes that fly at 90k feet.

Russian terrorists/separatists claimed they shot it down. They thought it was Ukrainian combat airplane. So how is that an excuse for Putler? It would be an excuse for world to take more sanctions against Putler.

OY 07-17-2014 09:33 AM

In the news here, it is said the plane was shot down by RUSSIAN separatists using a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buk_missile_system

The investigation will tell. However only Ukrainian army and Ukrainian separatists have BUK's in that area. So it's 50/50.

Wrong. The Ukrainian separatists took BUK's directly from the Ukrainian army and there is a proof.

Strelkov (terrorist/separatist) claimed that himself via social media. He thought it was Ukrainian airplane though. They shot down 2 Ukrainian airplanes (An26, Su25) before this one.

No, you are wrong again. Some of these BUK missiles have a range of 50 km. Thus, it could be 25 km inside of Russia and hit a plane 25 km inside of Ukraine. If you want to technical about it, Russia could have shot down the plane 50 km inside of Ukraine.

Also, we don't know exactly where the plane was shot down. It was shot down "near the Russian border" which is a bit vague. Maybe it was 40 km from the Russian border, shot down by Russian forces inside of Russia....

We could discuss about BUK's range almost endless. But now just turn on the simple logic and tell me why Russia would hit the civilian plane, which is going to enter its own airspace? Any ideas?

They are supported by Russia, period. Russia is giving them arms, training, and even manpower. It was Russian troops that took over the navy base in Crimea. Last month Russia sent armored cars into Ukraine - the US tracked them for hundreds of miles all through Russia and across the border into Ukraine, where they were promptly destroyed.

I see your angle now... You are Russian and you have the belief that Russia isn't involved. I see three different groups in the region who all have the same exact weapons.

You're right. Silly me.

Just because it's a major incident near a common border with Russia and the Ukraine, both of which have been almost at each other's throat for the last year, with Russia taking back part of the Ukraine and Putin putting large numbers of troops and tanks at the border at various times, while meanwhile jailing domestic political opponents, while at the same time facing harsh criticism even from his supporters at home for being too "soft" on the Ukraine situation....

Obviously there is absolutely no chance at all that this situation would spill over into Russia at all.

Sorry that I jumped to such a wild suggestion with no basis whatsoever.

Nope. These are mercenaries. I.e. it's not a regular army. Perhaps that will be a secret for you, There are a lot of foreign mercenaries on the both sides of conflict (they came from all around the Globe: Poland, Italy, Estonia, the United States etc).

Sure, lots of them. It's not like they haven't shot down a passenger airliner and killed hundreds of people before huh?

At this point we don't even know if it was a missile. It might have been a plane.

Why would Russia to do it? Maybe it was a mistake, maybe they they thought it was a military flight attacking Russia, maybe they wanted to create an incident? I'm not a conspiracy nut, but it's surely possible Russia was involved.

I understand you are trying to defend your country there, but you aren't being realistic with your argument.

I personally do not believe Russia was involved. Russia is clearly not concerned about Ukraine invading Russia, and I doubt Russia would be taking changes launching missiles from inside of Russia knowing damn well the US would see it.

Dude seriously... You are retarded.

It was a civilian airplane that was most likely shot down. The fact that Russian air traffic controllers was tracking has nothing to do with anything - it wasn't Russian air traffic controllers who shot it down. The Russian military doesn't call up Russian air traffic controllers to get permission to shoot down a plane.
