MH17?s flight plan was approved by Eurocontrol, who are solely responsible for determining civil aircraft flight paths over European airspace.

Eurocontrol allowed, but sensible air companies avoided it themselves. Most of them did. If the route is not banned by Eurocontrol does not mean you can not think by yourself and do not fly there, like majority of air companies did.

Eh, what? I though it was clear who shot it down. They even admitted it on social media, lol.

According to Eurocontrol the route had been closed by the Ukrainian authorities from ground to flight level 320 but was open at the level at which the aircraft was flying.

Shocking but it is clear which country should be to blame.

I am sure people will start a lawsuit against Malaysian Airlines, Eurocontrol where political figures have to say why they thought it was save to fly there. And why didn't malaysian airlines took another route, other companies took their responsibility and did.

This will be in court for years and will be used by politics for proganda.

No I don't understand that bullshit. AK47 is an obsolete weapon which is not produced in USSR (so in Russia) since 1959. Perhaps China or maybe Italy still produce it but not Russia for sure.

It's not actually obsolete and there are lot of variants from it. I don't know about this Russia thing and I am not going to start fighting about it, but I bet that Russia has plenty of AKs in storage. "New" gun can mean just a gun pulled from storage grease (never used).

Yep, but those are mostly AK-74M. Now Russia produces only the modern series of AK: AK-103 and AK-12 + assault riffles designed by other constructors such as AN-94 "Abakan", AS "Val", ASh-12.7 etc.

But one again, AK-47 is not produced here since 1959. Because that's a very obsolete model.

NY Times is abuzz today...

Jetliner Explodes Over Ukraine; Struck by Missile, Officials Say
By SABRINA TAVERNISE, ERIC SCHMITT and RICK GLADSTONE
Malaysia Airlines 17, which was carrying 298 people onboard, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile that might have been Russian made, American officials said.

Russia?s president, Vladimir V. Putin, blamed Ukraine?s government for creating what he called conditions for insurgency in eastern Ukraine, where separatists have bragged about shooting down at least three Ukrainian military aircraft. But Mr. Putin did not specifically deny that a Russian-made weapon had felled the Malaysian jetliner.

Fallen Bodies, Jet Parts and a Child's Pink Book
By SABRINA TAVERNISE
Local residents and rescue workers saw smoldering debris litter miles of sparsely populated Ukrainian farmland after Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crashed. Residents spoke of bodies falling from the sky, looking like rags or clumps of ash, before the plane came to a jolting rest in a large wheat field, having trailed debris over several miles of sparsely populated Ukrainian farmland.

It is realy strange they flew there. But that also counts for countries as Irak and Iran where a lot of civilian planes fly over like from Amsterdam to Dubai or Abu Dabi. On airports they check and scan you so you can't take explosives with you. But than they sent the plane above terrorist countries as a sitting Duck waiting to get shot down. And that will happen again, the terrorist get better weapons.
