If Obama was a smart guy (apparently he is not). He'd act as Navalny suggested: set personal sanctions for all those people, but did it silently. No public announcements and his fuckin' pathos speeches on how his sanctions are "effective". In this case it would work. There would be a real pressure on the bad guys here and there would be no newsbreak to be shown on Russian TV with comments like: "see people, all your problems are because of the US sanctions - Obama said they have destroyed our economics!"

It's not done that way in USA Political Culture. USA politics are not ( supposed to be ) run like a Mafia. " Omert`a " or the code of silence is not how we do things ...

That's true. They all seem to be run by a circus. FYI: any country can refuse to issue a visa w/o any explanation. This how the real sanctions should work.

Well, that may be a valid opinion ... USA politics are a clown show, no denying that ...

You don't seem to understand again: We cut off their water -- closed the cash flow.
This is not a personal vendetta.

You can do whatever you want in life but there is always a price to be paid. Putin is not smart enough to put his pride in his back pocket and he is now a failed world leader with Nukes ... Is the next putsch coming yet?

They didn't change them just because of North Korea.. We always change our bills designs just like any other country in the world. Old bills are still very much in circulation.

They change the bills every so often to make it harder to counterfeit, but it was not in direct result to anything NK did.. they routinely change the bills, not always just by look but often minor things which you would never see..

Since 1933 the 100 bills has been changed 12 times.. Some are minor changes like using different security strips or adding a slight design deviation and a few are total redesigns..

None were because of North Korea specifically...that would be stupid, because the old bills would still be in circulation and the new ones would still eventually be counterfeited. Hell in the 80/90's it was South American drug-lords whom were counterfeiting 100's by the truck loads.. ie there is always large scale counterfeiting and the bills are always being changed every 8 to 10 years on average.

1) They are targeting the Russian oligarchs personally. For example, I'm not an oligarch, so don't give a shit about them.

2) The commodity circulation between Russia and the States is just insignificant. In other words, the USA have not enough economical power to hurt Russia somehow. Take a look at this picture:

http://aftershock.su/sites/default/f...1%80%D0%B0.jpg

The USA there is only 3.8%. Sorry, but it's just nothing.

In fact the so-called US "sanctions". Works for propaganda purposes only. On both sides. Obama makes idiotic statements on how his "sanctions" affected Russian economics. The US rednecks are happy. Putin's propaganda TV is also happy to screen those Obama's statements to Russian rednecks with comments like: "See guys, all those problems with ruble are because of Obama - he is a motherfucker who you have to blame with that. This has nothing to do with Putin who made the Russian economics totally dependent on oil prices. Oil prices have nothing to do with ruble rate. Putin is a hero. Obama is an evil."

This how the US "sanctions" really work. They work as a propaganda for the weak-minded Americans and Russians only. And you my friend, is one of them. Because you were brainwashed too.

again, I'm OTR here stating for a fact I AM ignorant about Russia. I've mentioned that several times, I made sure to include to state things such as "from what I've read" etc.

Here. I'll brainstorm out the words that come to mind when Russia is mentioned-

russian anal porn sluts.

after that would be russian dash cams followed closely by vodka then putie.

that's about as far as my give a shit about russia goes, so call me ignorant about russia, i couldn't give a shit.

so now let's address your ignorance about russia because you fail at realizing the russian polls reveal your russian colleague's recent increase in anti-american sentiment is based on pubic opinion polls from your country.

you also are ignorant about your economic situation, the rubles is in the shitter, your economic overlord adjusted your GDP projections down by a shit ton and that translates to hurt for russian peoples.

finally, the truly hilarious part you fail at realizing is this thread is about Obama being a shitty president.

Well, would things get better if we move nuclear missile batteries close to disputed lands?

No one can send Ukraine enough weapons to defeat the Russian ambitions -- to think otherwise is foolish.

The US President cannot rule by decree and tell a bank to close certain accounts or to take a persons monies hostage without legal recourse in the US Courts. There are laws and legal procedures. There must be public court warrants issued under rule of law -- that is the law here.

It's called Rule of Law. We don't make up the law as we go to suit the circumstances.

Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Budapest Memorandum is a diplomatic memorandum, not an official treaty.

Iran's "Brain Trust" should pay heed!

Russia will veto any UN action. Rest assured if the Russians Nuke Ukraine they know there will be nuclear retaliation. It sucks but that is how the game pays out.

And what? Did I say it should go illegal way? Do it legally, but don't make these bullshit public statements on your "sanctions". And please don't tell me it's impossible in the USA. You (the States) are spying the whole world, including your so-called "allies" and you don't announce who, when and how gets spied. Why Obama didn't make a special statement on details of the spying procedure? Maybe how it is effective to the USA and how it "destroyed" Angela Merkel's undies secret? :winkwink:

Too much diplomatic, official crap. So, anything they talked down in Minsk with Downbabve wouldn't have any legal power too?
And if you say Russian would veto everything isn't it a matter of kicking Russia out of UN?

You need to recall the situation during the dissolution of the USSR. The Kremlin's leaders had deployed nuclear weapons in their vassal-states or "republics". The real intention of that diplomatic effort was to reduce the possibility of nuclear war.

Russia is in a grey area of breach of that agreement. Putin is facilitating the separatist rebels -- aiding and abetting. The USSR transplanted Russians into the territories of the USSR Republics to ensure political and economic control. They are ethnic foreigners. The smart thing for Putin to do (or have done) would have been to offer repatriation (or return ) to the "settlers" back to "Mother Russia". They could have been compensated for their property. Then, there would be some hard feelings but in the end: Peace.

There are no real winners in this conflict it's a no win scenario.
