Round 1 update:
Sens-Canadiens --- Habs win 4-3 was it? Subban's slash; In my opinion he got what he deserved. I don't think he should be given anything more. He should probably though start thinking about getting out of hockey and taking up golf. With a swing like he's got he'd be a natural. :D Montreal leads series 1-0. And Habs fans prove once again they are the whiniest in the league. Caps 1, Islanders 4 --- This was a pretty low-key game for me. NY leads series 1-0 Blackhawks 4, Preds 3 --- This one may have been the best game of the first 4. An incredible comeback by Chicago once again shows that the Hawks are the absolute LAST team you want to be taking your food off the gas once you have a lead on them. Chicago leads series 1-0 Flames 2, Canucks 1 --- Another come from behind win for Calgary who lead the series 1-0. Tonight the other 8 teams have a go at it. GO JETS! I also wouldn't mind seeing the Wild do well. A Minnesota-Winnipeg series at some point in these playoffs would be downright sumptuous. |

Now it has been announced that Stone has a microfracture in his wrist and his availability is unknown. Maybe Neil will draw back in in his place and beat the shit out of Subban. Oh god I would love to see that. . |

Only a typically ridiculous habs fan would deny the injury and defend Subban in any way. Meanwhile if somebody slashed Subban or any of the other crybabies on the team in the same manner habs fans would be calling the police. Canadiens fans call for charges against Chara Quote:

Having said that, if I were a habs player I would have woken up this morning pretty confident about the outcome of the series against Ottawa: - Sens have only beaten Price twice (one is an own goal). - The 2 goals were scored on the 3 minutes of powerplay. - Canadiens scored their 4 goals against 5 sens on the ice. Of course, hockey will be hockey and it's hard to call the outcome of a series based on the first game, but I think the pressure is now clearly on the sens. :2 cents: |
Well, that was a poor first period for the Pens. It's hard to score when you can't stay of the penalty kill.

As for Price the Sens proved he is beatable two years ago when they lit him up like a christmas tree. They just have to get into his head. It's playoff hockey. Antyhing can happen. . |
WOOT!
Series Wild 1 - Blues 0 |
Jets get Perried and Getzlaffed: The Winnipeg Jets first playoff game in 19-years didn?t go according to plan. Corey Perry scored twice in the third period, including the winner, as Anaheim beat the Jets 4-2? Ryan Getzlaf completed the three-goal third for Anaheim with a goal on the power play. Adam Lowry and Drew Stafford scored for the Jets. Game two is tomorrow night ? faceoff again at 9:30.Wild get a nice 4-2 win in over the Blues. Red Wings win 3-2 over Tampa Bay lightning. Rangers take the Pens 2-1. All of last night's games were won in regulation. Subban public enemy #1 in Ottawa: Mark Stone's status for the rest of Ottawa's playoff series is in question. He suffered a microfracture in his wrist after being slashed by Montreal?s P-K Subban. Subban received a five-minute major and misconduct for the play. Game two of that series is one of four games tonight.Neal is in fact coming in to 'deal' with Subban, who really should just shut his mouth and quit yapping to the media about this incident. If he has to yap then just own up to what he did instead of making excuses like he's been doing. Because there's really no excuse for taking a full-swing chop across the unprotected wrist of one of the opposing team's star players, unless you're a complete dickhead of course. All things considered tonight's game should be off the charts. :D Ottawa at Montreal, 6 p.m. (Montreal leads series 1-0) New York Islanders at Washington, 6 p.m. (New York leads series 1-0) Chicago at Nashville, 8:30 p.m. (Chicago leads series 1-0) Calgary at Vancouver, 9 p.m. (Calgary leads series 1-0) Tweet of the Day: ?#NHLjets were in very good position to win until they started taking undisciplined penalties. Old habits die hard? ~@Ted_Wyman |

In his little pea brain he has done nothing wrong. I just don't want the Sens to get out there running around and lose focus on winning the game. . |
Here we go Penguins, here we go!

They are still the underdog of course but that was impressive and Crosby looked like he came loaded for bear. :thumbsup |
Here's the update from the weekend;
Sunday’s results: Jets have to take the next two at home or it's lights out. Sens.... wow, just ouchwow. I don't see winning 4 straight against Price, but it would be nice if they took the next two to you know, make it a series. Close games anyway. All series are really heating up. Last night's Vancouver-Calgary game was a rockem sockem good time. Caps-Islanders has become a good series as well. Pens took one against the mighty Rangers, loving it. Tampa got one on the Red Wings on Saturday. Great series there. Would love to see a bunch of game 7's happen. Who's with me? Infamous sea of white coming in the 'peg tonight. Bodies were flying everywhere on the ice last game, I can only imagine how it's going to go down tonight. Can't wait. |

The Isles/Caps series has been very good. And I am loving the physical nature of the Flames / Canucks series. Haven't got a chance to watch much of the other series so far though.

Byfuglien and his dirty hit on Perry last night. Damn, as much as I inwardly enjoyed seeing Perry knocked on his ass that's definitely not Winnipeg style hockey. Blindsiding a guy out of frustration a second after he scores on you, that's a "come on, man" moment if I ever saw one. And a very stupid penalty. Jets have been self-plagued with them through all three games. Pens still have a shot and are making it a series. :2 cents: Here's the update: Monday?s results: Anaheim 5 Winnipeg 4 (OT) (Anaheim leads the series 3-0) -- I'd say Jets are done at this point. Would be nice to get at least one win before facing doom back in Anaheim instead of being eliminated in front of the home crowd. They've been throwing everything at the Ducks, leading each game after 40 minutes only to see that lead evaporate in the last seconds. Still, one of the most entertaining series to watch so far. N.Y. Rangers 2 Pittsburgh 1 (New York leads series 2-1) -- Crosby needs to look where he's going, he skated right into Hagelan, got knocked on his ass and damned-near got himself his next concussion. :D Minnesota 3 St. Louis 0 (Minnesota leads series 2-1) -- GO WILD! is right. They are playing fantastic in this series. Keep it up. Tuesday?s schedule: Tampa Bay at Detroit, 6 p.m. (Series tied 1-1) Washington at N.Y. Islanders, 6:30 p.m. (New York leads series 2-1) Nashville at Chicago, 8:30 p.m. (Chicago leads series 2-1) Vancouver at Calgary, 9 p.m. (Calgary leads series 2-1) |

Stanley hockey to me is all about the grinders stepping up and becoming the stars - I look at Chicago and it is like a team of the superstars of grinderdom... kind of like the Kings were in their Cup winning years. Montreal... not a fan of the coach and I don't think Subban did what he did without being issued the Prime Directive. Gallagher has been that guy in the past too and Therrien has a rep for being that sort of dirty. The teams are for the most part fairly even and I think it is going to be great hockey through to the very end. Hope the Jets win at least one but the Ducks are so relentless. Always been a fan of Kessler even when he was with the Canuckleheads. Speaking of which, i couldn't believe how many times the Canucks turned over the puck tonight... even when there was no pressure on the puck they were tossing it away like hippies playing frisbee in a parking lot after dropping acid to catch a Phish concert. Caps vs Islanders is fun. Ovie vs Tavares is living up to the hype. No one should underestimate those former Pens on D for the Caps... Although on the other side of the ice Hickey is another WHL kid I used to watch on the Tbirds and he is what I like in a D man... the thinking quarterbacking kind, not the goon type. Although he does look like he is trying to step up to the big hits he still looks too light to do much. |

But the Jets are in heated battle with the dicks, uh, the Ducks. Right now they are the enemy. So you can understand that when I see people whom I like saying they'd like to see Anaheim win it kind of smarts. Sharks --- I had a girlfriend from down that way, near the bay area, for six years in fact. She really wasn't a hockey fan, and used to say that no one down there watches hockey or talks about it. I then asked her who she imagined those 18-20,000+ fans were their team gets at every game were. Did she think they were Canadians flying down there every couple of nights to fill the Shark Tank? lol. She and I parted ways in 2005. Fact is SJ and the bay area are a great hockey market. I hope you guys can fix your roster and organization troubles and get back to being the contenders you've been. Perhaps you'll meet the Jets one day in the playoffs. Wouldn't that be fun? :thumbsup |
Today's round 1 update:
Blackhawks win marathon game: Brent Seabrook scored in the third overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Nashville Predators 3-2. Rookie Scott Darling made 50 saves for Chicago who now lead the series 3-1.That triple overtime between Chicago and Nashville was off the charts. Even lost the the puck in Rinne's equipment and the linesman spent five minutes feeling him up before it was found. :1orglaugh Win or go home: The Winnipeg Jets will try to keep their season alive tonight as they host the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks lead the series 3-0. Faceoff at MTS Centre is 8:30. Awesome night of hockey ahead. GO JETS. |
Now this was a good laugh!

Is Calgary that good or is it that Vancouver likes choking that bad? Either way, wish they would stop referring to Gaudreau as "Johnny Hockey" since any reference to "Johnny Football" is disrespectful to how great Gaudreau is doing in comparison as a pro playing with the manly men of the NHL... and he seriously looks like a kid out there. Going to be some great games today... |
Sorry to have given ya false hope CD. Jets are getting toasted.

And yes, the 'Johnny Hockey' BS has to stop. Too bad the sports media have jumped all over it and so have all the dumb-dumb fans out that way. I fear it's here to stay. Quote:

Well that was highly disappointing if you were a wild fan.

Congrats to the Sens & fans though. Forcing a game 5, something I wish the Jets could have done. Jets played well though. I doubt there's a guy on the Ducks roster who would say they were 'easy' to get out. I now look forward to seeing how other teams fair against them. |
