And its that ease of access.. that kills so many Americans every year. Its just baffling to the rest of the world when a few guys with pocket knives attack your country and you change the way every citizen lives there after and shove the constitution right up every American and every other countries ass for ever, but when it comes to guns... everyone is so complacent. |

That said though, why does this not happen in countries with very strict gun control? Where are all the nutcases with small round candy killing people with it? Of all the sound arguments to use, I don't think that's a viable one. Anyway, interesting reading both sides as always, so carry on :) |

That makes absolutely zero sense. And certainly doesn't help you with your problem that our Constitution isn't aligned with your view from outside looking in.

Literally nothing could have prevented this from happening except for the guy himself just deciding not to be an asshole. No gun laws will ever prevent a shooting because criminals don't follow laws. |
Quote:
If you were a criminal in an area where no one had guns, who would shoot back at you? No one. In places where gun controls are relaxed, and there could be a gun anywhere on the street, people who are about to commit a shooting are a little more hesitant because there could be someone shooting back. Why do you think school shootings are always in these little cute schools with no guards or unarmed guards. You won't see a school shooting happen in the hood because the kids will fuck them up first. And don't get the parents involved, they'll shoot a motherfucker if you mess with their kids. |

Still crazy to watch him get ready to fire and to see her run after those first shots...:helpme:( |
I'm sure if the cameraman and reporter were armed with some big ass gun then this would never have happened.
More guns for America, God Bless America. Guns keep America safe, blah blah blah blah. |
The fact that this crazy mother fucker was able to LEGALLY buy a fire arm is the problem. Better background checks on people are needed. This guy had a history of doing irrational things around his places of employment. I don't care if someone wants to own a gun or not but they need to be of sane mind.
There is a problem with gun violence in the U.S. There is no denying that. Why is it the majority of these crazy shootings/mass shootings happen there? To be clear I am not knocking the U.S. But for fuck sake something has to change. |
Comments currently trending regarding the Journalist shooting
Here are a few comments floating around out there right now, from youtube, twitster, FB, etc...
Armed black man with racist past shoots two unarmed white people. Yet, people suddenly refuse to call it for what it is, a racist hate crime, and want to blame the gun instead of the shooter. If this shooter was white and the reporter black...the narrative would be totally different. That's just a taste. Make of it what you will. Had to laugh at the Canadian saying once we have Trader Joes up here the USA will become obsolete. |

Its sad that so many people think that "gun control" would have had any bearing on the outcome here. This is one of those people who was doing it for one thing and one thing only, attention.
banning social media would have had more of an impact, banning cameras on cell phones and selfie sticks would have had more of an impact, to look at this in terms of 'gun control' is just an overly simplistic solution to a problem you cant identify. You really think that this is just a problem of easy access to weapons? Just 3 months ago a large man with a big rock was trying to break into the house of a friend, I was staying with her and because I had a gun and was ready to use it she is still alive...he intended to use the rock to bash her head in because he couldn't get a gun. Sghe is still alive because I could. If you dont understand why the right to bear arms is important to this country then stay the hell out, stay in Oz or wherever you are because we dont want or need you and you are exactly where you should be. And stop proposing idiotic solutions to real problems. |

Every time this brown mother fucker got fired he blamed racism on whites and anti-gay on black co-workers. Can't go wrong with that.

This was a premeditated crime. If all gun stores were closed he would have just bought one on the street. Like drugs. Just wait till someone who knows how to really use a shotgun decides to start hunting humans. . |

A number of comments mention testing for personality disorders or "sane mind" ... While that sounds nice just what government agency would you recommend to mentally test it's citizens? Scary thought.

New Laws just introduced here today:
-- Also on Friday, Deputy Premier and Police Minister Troy Grant announced that a new offence of possession of an illegal firearm would be created with a maximum penalty of 14 years. Penalties of "at least 14 years imprisonment" would be introduced for unauthorised possession, acquisition or use of a pistol, prohibited firearm or a firearm that is "defaced, unregistered or stolen", he said. An Illegal Firearms Investigation and Reward Scheme would also be created offering up to $10,000 for information leading to conviction of a person for possessing an illegal firearm. ---- Some countries take action, some just let their citizens die. |

I see why Australia is repealing every australians rights and liberties by throwing more gun laws against the wall to see what sticks:
In the seven years from 2005 to 2012, gun murders across Australia almost doubled. The incidence of guns used in kidnappings trebled. The total number of crimes in which a firearm was used rose from 823 in 2005, to 1217 in 2012, an increase of 47 per cent * Gun ownership in Australia is back at pre-Port Arthur massacre levels. * Carrying a gun is becoming more common and ingrained in outlaw culture. * Gun amnesties barely put a dent in the number of weapons. * Innocent people are being caught up in gun battles. * There has been a steady increase in gun-related crimes over the past seven years. 20 years after banning guns-
In the past 12 months, more than 3352 people have been charged as part of ongoing investigations by Strike Force Raptor and Operations Apollo and Spartan. Unveiling a new plan to tackle out-of-control gun violence in Sydney on Wednesday, NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said all three strike forces had been brought together to form Operation Talon. "There is no single source of gun crime violence...guns have fallen into the hands of organised crime, outlaw motorcycle gangs, mid-level crime groups and petty thieves and the lines are often blurred," Mr Scipione said New plan unveiled to tackle out-of-control gun violence | Ballina Shire Advocate |
265 per cent rise in the number of handgun thefts in Sydney. There have been 72 shootings in public places. Eight people have died in such incidents. On 28 other occasions at least one person has been wounded.
Year of the gun: Sydney in grip of upswing in shooting crime |
so let's be clear, Australians are looking down their noses at Americans while you militarize your police forces with high-tech weaponry and confiscate guns by using police with guns, give up personal rights and liberties, all while gun crime escalates.
:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh After Michael Brown shooting, Australian police get military weapons | Crikey “Specialist squads like the Force Response Unit (FRU), the military-trained Special Operations Group (SOG) and the ‘counter-terrorism’ Security Intelligence Group (SIG) were rationalised on the basis of ‘terrorism’. These squads have gradually come to have a greater influence on regular policing, particularly the policing of protests. Many of the most controversial and problematic policing incidents in Victoria since the early 1980s, including assaulting peaceful protestors and using pressure points and neck holds, can be linked to the SOG or its influence over operational tactics.” Most of the state police forces are either using or want to use their own drone units. But in Western Australia, police have gone further, announcing in 2013 the acquisition of the $400,000 Ballistic Engineered Armoured Response Counter Attack Truck (known as “Bearcat”), a vehicle whose features include “gun ports, rotating roof hatch, two electric winches, emergency light/sirens, spot/flood lights, battering ram, tear gas deployment nozzle, thermal cameras, common remotely operated weapon station and protection against chemical, biological, radiological nuclear and high-yield explosives”. |
Police in riot gear remove children at gunpoint | Gladstone Observer
New South Wales police entered a home at around 6:30am earlier in the year to remove some young Aboriginal children. The police were joined by the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS). The parents who were awoken by the police told NITV that the officers' guns were pointed at them as they were then handcuffed while their children were removed from their care. "[They used] shields, helmets, assault rifles, the mother and father taken from their beds, shaken from their beds, handcuffed naked, children marched out at gunpoint." The police said children aged between one and 13 were removed from the home. New South Wales Police said that a raid had indeed occurred but that the parents had not been charged. militarize the police while confiscating guns from civilians, good job Aus! |
