in any case, i am suprised how political this matter has become. its so heated, there is a left wing clock pic that looks innocuous, & a right wing clock pic that looks like a possible bomb. its fascinating to me how the 2 political poles completely see the opposite sides on this petty nonsense. fact is, cooler heads shoulda prevailed in texas. are they racist? im not sure. i dont know the people involved. i dont think it was unreasonable to be concerned about the device given its apparent appearance, & the reaction it stirred. I do wonder the reason the child decided to build a clock in metal suitcase? im wondering if there was an agenda by the parents to seek out a problem & they got one. i dont know, & neither do you. so relax & make something funny with it.

If it had been a white football player at the same school, they would of laughed it off like it was a joke..

In worst case they should of just made the kid leave it in the front office and explain to him that it's a bad idea to bring something like this to school.

Turns out, they brought him into the office for questioning and he refused to answer questions. Was very vague. This was before calling the police and after the police showed up with further questioning.

We had a few situations like this when I was in high school. I lived in a white city in the middle of nowhere. School size was about 1800 students. Those kids got arrested, too. White. One set down a backpack in a crowded area and was very evasive about it. This was shortly after Columbine. Others walked around school wearing long black trenchcoats, those trenchcoats got banned shortly thereafter.

These situations are only an overreaction until something very bad happens, then it's an underreaction and the lynch mob comes out asking why nobody notice anything funny.

I sided with the kid until more and more news came out.
