I mean, I have a serious problem with what is perceived as democracy in the US. I see both major political parties as being essentially the same. Most politicians will lie to get elected and it's expected. No one wants change once they are elected. They just want to stay elected. I also have a serious problem with the way "entitlements" are handed out as, well, entitlements. When I was growing up, if you were on Welfare or Food Stamps - you were looked upon with disdain. Now it seems people are proud to get whatever they can from the government, without having to actually earn it. These two factors, coupled with what I feel is terrible American agression in our foreign policy make me ashamed of the way things run in the US. But I don't consider that American bashing. I consider that having an informed opinion based on what I read and see and believe. That said, I consider myself a proud American, a patriot. I also believe if you have $1 in your pocket and ambition and a willingness to work, you can become successful more easily in the US than in any other country. To me, that's what makes America great. So, am I anti-American? |
Have I ever trolled you back for your comments on USA? Nope.

No, not at all. I'm conflicted myself as to when a person crosses the line between disagreeing with the status quo and being a basher. There's no hard and fast line that is crossed. Every country has it's good and bad points. Malaysia isn't at all PC, which I like, but the censorship here is almost comical. The opposition party had a demonstration a couple of weeks back, and they wear yellow. So the day before the demonstration, the Minister of Public Affairs banned the color yellow from being worn in public.
When something negative is linked to in social media, by the time you click on the link, it's always a 404 error. There's no dissent here. I remember at the start of the Iraqi War, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks was villified fior her stance against Bush and the war. I was one of the people who thought she was American bashing. Turns out she was ahead of her time, IMHO. All good, just making conversation. |

That's not anti-American. I'm referring to the east-eurotards and ruskies that blame everything wrong in the world on USA. |

I believe that benefits need to be short term - six months to a year. Unemployment is at 5.1% (and expected to drop even lower); People should be able to get back on their feet after a year. We shouldn't have entire generations of families being raised on welfare. |

you're the one writing diatribes about my posts, see: Quote:
nevertheless, i would think that since my view bothers you so much, it makes more sense for you to put me on ignore. but that's just being sensible, not nonsensible. |
