I'm not mad at all. I'm sad for the US buyers in that grocery. The lighting there really sucks. In Russia the owners will be fined for that and the grocery will be closed till they fix the light there. Sorry but I'm got used with better quality standards.

They have that lighting in US grocery stores for two reasons. The obvious one is that its much closer to natural light and easier on the eyes. The second is those lights allow them to spotlight produce so that it pops out to the customer more. Setting fluorescent lights to the max like in the pictures you showed is a quick way to get a migraine :D

...also whole world is taking steps to reduce energy use/green house gas emmissions/etc, while Russia clearly doesn't give a shit, Putin probably owns some stock in their electric companies, so need to make sure electricity use is cranked up high.. :thumbsup

...and you are right, lighting levels here feels natural, why would anyone want to feel like they are in a tanning bed while shopping?

...and wtf is wrong with you all? arguing about lighting level in stores? that's a new low, even for gfy... :helpme

So four missiles missed their target by hundreds of miles and hit the wrong country? I mean, didn't even hit the country next to Syria, they landed two countries away.

You are a former marine, right? Why do you say they "hit the wrong country"? Do you understand that in case of failure the cruise missile will not detonate? You can say "lost at some wrong country", but not "hit". Where did you learn the basics of military science? Man, I'm talking about basics which every brainless private must know.

The "economy" on day-light lighting? What do you smoke, man? Your fridges and air conditioners consume 1000's times more power (yes, they are soooo fuckin' green LOL). Who cares if a grocery store has 100 or 300 of energy-saving energy-saving lamps? I can't believe you are such stupid... :disgust

Look at the image posted by MetaMan. It uses high energy-consuming incandescent lamps that burn much more electricity for heating and only small part of it on lighting. Now look at the pictures I've posted to that thread. Russian grocery stores use energy-saving daylight lamps only/ So wha do you think, where is a real energy-saving system, professor? :)

You say that as if an undetonated cruise missile would fall from the sky on a pillow of marshmallows.

It doesn't mater what you think, what I think, what CNN and Russian Ministry of Defense think. The only thing what really matters is what Iran thinks/says about it. Am I right?

I don't disagree at all.

Although like I mentioned before, incidences like this make the concerns of Turkey and NATO very real. Especially since Russia has already crossed into Turkish airspace multiple times. If one of these undetonated cruise missiles, or any missile, lands on Turkish soil it's not going to be like the current Iranian situation.

what do you think will be different? tension will briefly rise, but realistically nothing will happen...

Since we seem to be pulling out, Europe will preach and throw their fist into the air about injustice.

Just saw a big spread this morning about Turkish/Russian relations. They are not too friendly it seems. That would be the blowback.

And nothing will happen. Perhaps a Turkish diplomatic note or something like that.

I can tell you a real WWIII recipe if you want. Let's imagine the US aircraft carrier battle group attacks Russian forces (doesn't matter navy or ground troops). According to Russian defense doctrine, the only weapon which is intended to be used against the US aircraft carriers are cruise missiles with tactical nuclear warheads. So your aircraft carrier will be sink down with a 100% probability by just one or two nuke missiles like Гранит (aka SS-N-19 "Shipwreck") which is equipped with a 500 Kt warhead (the nuke power is about 24 Hiroshimas). What the States will do after that? A nuke strike by the continental Russia. That's how the Armageddon begins...

Exactly. Your incandescent lamps from the 19th century spend a lot of electricity (they mostly heating than lighting). That's why I told to compare them to the energy-saving daylight ones that used in our grocery stores (incandescent lamps with a power > 75W are banned in Russia since 2013 and the ones with a power > 25W are banned since 2014) The energy saving you say? ;)

cyberschmoe arguing about grocery store lighting based on a 1999 picture on the internet to deflect away from ruskie bombs petering out over iran.

i'm not surprised.

If their cruise missiles cannot hit a country, what makes you think they can target a ship?

Can they hit a sea? Your massively expensive aircraft carriers and battleships and waste of money navy do not react well to nuke-triggered tsunamis do they? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh :1orglaugh

I hope them f-15s float :thumbsup

don't worry if they do not hit with the first nuke they have 1000s :thumbsup

waste of money: US navy :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

First of all, those are different types of cruise missiles. The missiles used to attack Syrian territory are the new and long range ones. Even if 4 missiles were lost (which is not proven), they are still more reliable than the US-made Tomahawks Block III (85% success launches of "Калибр НК" vs 65% success launches of Tomahawks in Yugoslavian war). When I'm talking about the anti-ship cruise missiles, I'm talking about the old good ones like Гранит (SS-N-19 "Shipwreck"), П-1000 Вулкан and П-15M Термит (SS-N-2 Styx). Those are designed for nuke warheads and have to be used against the aircraft battle groups (can be launched from surface, battle ships and submarines). Those don't need to hit the aircraft carrier. A 500Kt nuke blast will destroy the whole battle group from above with a 100% success.

Yes. Reservoirs with liquid that were collecting heat during day, old trucks, inflatable airplanes. Actually, nothing new, it is Russian concept and it worked perfectly.

Inflatable weapon models » Decoy (inflatable military models) :: hot air balloons, inflatable constrictions, landing mats, inflatable decoys, inflatable buildings

I guess this would be great to have in backyard :)

Nope, it was panic, they were without ammo.

Projection was that Serbs will capitulate in 3 days. When I say capitulate that really means capitulation because one of requests was to let NATO operate and use Serbian infrastructure (roads, land, frequencies), and not to be under Serbian law .

It never happened and bombing lasted 78 days. Only way for western countries to do something was to start bombing civilians without protection. So they did, markets, hospitals, trains, houses ....

From military perspective, they were useless even with troops on the ground (Albanian terrorists in kosovo and regular Albanian army that was trying to enter from Albania).
