Business is business.. this is true.

But i don't see how this will benefit anyone except them, mydirtyhobby isn't even english, it wont convert nearly as well in the US.

I have a feeling they just sold it for alot of money.. and are pocketing it.

Meanwhile thousands of us have links up for them.. and are now not getting paid for it.

Webcams.com was such an awesome and brandable domain.. i had the white label making a few sign ups a week but then they changed the way it works.. and all my traffic disapeared.

Im sick of putting up links for sponsors, especially on my blogs which is very time consuming. Then the sponsor just says hey we changed it all, update your links fuckwits.

Half the time they don't even tell anyone, you just find the tour page has changed and your old links might not even be counting anymore.

Its 100% understandable a sponsor program needs to earn a profit and must do what it needs to survive.. but what about the affiliates?

GFY i guess :)

The future is very big companies taking the traffic, then the need for affiliates who can't work on their own and get the revenue given to them will go.

What I find strange is all the bitching and bleeding hearts. Where were they when they were killing offline porn?

What goes around comes around.

Your right it could become possible for affiliates to become absolete.

If you look at traffic trends across the internet you will see from the 90s its moved from many small sites, to fewer very large sites.

Hand written content sites developed into user generated PHP sites with millions of pages.

All the traffic has moved..

The future for affiliates will be marketing yourself on these larger websites and adding content to those..

And it will probably keep changing rapidly as it has, and people will keep bitching.

I know i am sick of it, totally sick of it, and are now focusing on more real world businesses.

Im sure it will but not nearly as well as webcams.com did. And how about just moving the program and redirecting all the traffic :)

Do you drop promoting a non-profitable site or keep sending them traffic?

This is another one of those bitching threads because someone has found something else has a better profit margin.

Why allow affiliates to buy ads and bring in a far lower profit?

Why allow anyone not employed by the company to dictate where you customers come from?

This cuts dramatically into profit margins, less money is spent on the product and has led to the reason a lot of companies can't afford to update or improve their product.

Precisley. You need stats to understand what words. I use what customers use. What are you boss's plans for replacing ads on piracy sites?

Too stupid to troll.

All good points.. just feels wrong tho..

A tip for everyone.. in the last year ive started putting redirection links to all my sponsors, so it can be changed from one spot.

Basically i have a little link / banner rotator that also works with hard coded text links.

So any linking codes i put up, work through this system.

This way if they decide to change the program i can simply change the link in my backend, and all the hundreds or thousands of pages i have links up for get redirected to something else that converts with that traffic.

Having built adult sites for 15 years, ive been ripped from sponsors at least 10 times.. and i think this is the solution.

Domain name may be "awesome" but the product was a tiny little fish in the cam market space. I would think the reasons they shut it down are not close to what you think.

There are programs who in over 10 years of business have never changed their links. (Streamate is one of them, but there are several others)
