They gave you the name of the complainant, the original copyright holder. Why don't you contact the photographer whose work you used without permission and, unlike Mr. Skin, without promoting him? |

1. You should be able to remove content on all URLs. You should know what is on every URL of your sites. It is called doing business and being responsible. If you don't know what is on every URL on your sites you should take a little time to go through your server and document this stuff so you do know. Ignorance is not an excuse. 2. You rail against them being dishonest, yet you are knowingly using content you don't own and admitting to doing so. That makes you a thief. Maybe take a minute to look in the mirror before you start talking shit about other people. |
Looks like an honest guy, but fair play for knowing how to make $600+ per month from them

You're such a failure of epic proportions and your antics on this board of humiliating people far more successful then yourself are numbered. :2 cents: Why don't you go find some men at your local hot spot and do a little of... :sleep:sleep:sleep:sleep:bigears ... which is your forte |

2. Skin uses content they dont own. What does that make them? At least I have contact info for dmca reports on my websites to quickly remove content if someone complains, and i don't pocket other people's money because i'm a greedy asshole. |

Do you just make shit up on the go, no matter how dumb it sounds, just to support Skin? Did they buy you a drink at one of the conventions? :1orglaugh |
Quote:
The difference between what you are doing and what they are doing is simple. It is called Fair Use. You see you are taking content you do not own in order to make money. You haven't changed it in any way or done anything that would alter it from it original format (other than maybe size and compression ratio etc.). Mr. Skin provide commentary and reviews about the movies, the scenes, and the people in them. When they do this it creates a fair use situation. Imagine it like this: If you have TV show like At the Movies where you review movies and play clips from them. You are allowed to show those clips because you are also providing a review of the movie, hence, fair use. If you just took those clips and uploaded them to YouTube or some site you likely would be hit with a complaint. If Mr. Skin were really breaking the law do you not think a big, powerful movie studio would have hammered them into the ground by now? It s a big site, that has even been mentioned in some movies and the owner goes on major radio shows like Howard Stern to promote it. If they were breaking the law they would have had their asses handed to them a long time ago. The odds are they hadn't really paid much attention to you as an affiliate until you had lawyers contacting them about your sites. Had that not happened I have a feeling your account would still be open and everything would be fine. This is the game you play when you decide to make money using stolen content. At some point that money might go away. |

Did you pay someone a licensing fee for the pictures? Did you get permission to use the pictures? Unless you answered yes to one of those you are violating the copyright on every one of those pictures. |

http://www.freakydink.com/boobs.gif Anyway, the legality of content or fair use is not the point of the thread. The point is that MrSkin will gladly take all your traffic, not matter how clean or dirty it is. But they will fuck you over when they are not profiting from it anymore (i.e., when you stop sending them traffic and just collecting rebills money). It's a question of affiliate program's integrity. MrSkin has none - they will throw you under the bus at a drop of a hat. |
Did you still make new sales?
|
|
The "celeb" niche in porn is and always has been shady. MrSkin is no exception. The affiliates promoting celeb content AND the sponsors are using content they don't own. That's the nature of the game.
It's pretty obvious what happened here. They were taking heat, decided to look through your account and realized that you were making money from rebills while sending very little new sales so they said fuck that... cancelled your account and will keep all the money to themselves. Pretty common practice in the industry. |

The problem is how they handled things. Instead of supporting a old time webmaster who had been faithful for years, they decided it was a good time to screw him over and keep the profits. It's simply a shit move on their part. |

Another pissing match on gfy. Shocking...
|
Stopped promoting MrSkin long time ago and never looked back. Fuck them (smug assholes) and their non converting sites.
There are much better options out there for your celebs traffic. |

Mr. Skin is presumably not promoting this photographer because his work does not appear on their site. I believe they do promote the work of people whose copyrighted material does appear on their site. Are you disagreeing with that? You, on the other hand, are using that person's work and not promoting him. Mr. Skin has told you who the owner is, so why would you ask GFY where the images you took are, before you would ask the person with a lawyer where he thinks you are using his property? Do you disagree that your screenshots show Mr. Skin told you whose photos this is about? What is confusing you here? Mr. Skin can't legally make money off of your illegal activity, which the complainant's attorney has notified them of. So you need to make good with the copyright holder, not complain to strangers on the internet about Mr. Skin. |
Quote:
Here is just one of MrSkin's websites full of stolen, i mean "borrowed" content: Dakota Johnson Topless During Filming 'Fifty Shades Darker' - they didn't pay for this content - they didn't get permission to use that content - they don't have a license to use this content And they sure as hell aren't promoting anyone else but themselves. Look, celebrity niche is tricky and hi-risk. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here or set anyone straight. All i'm saying is that you can't trust MrSkin. Instead of working with together with you to solve things, they will jump at first opportunity to fuck you over and steal money from you. I've learned the lesson and moved on elsewhere from their shitty, non-converting revshare program. |
OP got paid or what??

tough times being an affiliate nowadays |
Quote:
That is not disagreeing with me at all. I made no assertion about Mr. Skin, other than that they told you where the complaint came from and they do give credit to their sources. Mr. Skin can't work with you to solve you pissing off a copyright holder Mr. Skin has nothing to do with. You used content unrelated to Mr. Skin. They told you who the owner you have to satisfy is. Why would you give up domains and complain to GFY before contacting the owner of the photos to see what you could do to make it right? If you can describe that the content is from Fifty Shades Darker, there is promotional credit. Why are you scared to contact the actual owner of the work you posted and made money off of? |

Seriously, stick to something you have a clue about or STFU. |
Quote:
I'd ask you where you think I said anything about what Mr. Skin owns and I'd ask you again why you ask strangers on GFY and give away your domains before you contact the owner of the work to make things right ... but I'm putting you on ignore, so there would be no point, as I will not see you failing to answer. |

You violating their trademark caused them problems with a copyright owner. Violating trademarks can be costly. You're lucky to get off so easy. Either you're clueless about affiliate marketing or you purposely violated Mr. Skins trademark in your domain to gain SEO rankings for people searching for their site/brand. |
Quote:
- My Rebills were stolen from me - I couldn't do anything because Skin were set from the get go to screw me over. I asked them for the DMCA report but they never gave me one. |
Quote:
I was using the domains to exclusively promote them. There were zero seo rankings, the domains had Skin galleries on them. That's what's called affiliate marketing. They just decided to be greedy cunts about it. |
