I am not being distracted at all. While all of this bullshit is going on, I am still finding the real news of what is really going on in Washington DC - and it's horrible. Every piece of news coming out of the White House - and Washington itself - is just horrible.

Let's slaughter some horses! Congressional committee votes to allow destruction of wild horses – The Denver Post

Let's hire someone to get our message out who has no knowledge about his job! Anthony Scaramucci Will Be The New White House Communications Director After A White House Shake-Up : NPR

Let's have "Made In America" week at the White House while all of our family products are made in foreign countries!

Nothing coming out of the White House is positive. Nothing.

You want a perfect example? The VA. Trump promised to fix the VA. Well, we are now six months into his term and.... What's happened there? He appointed someone new to run the VA and signed a bill into law that makes it easier for the VA to fire people. Has he reported back to the American public explaining what he has done? Has he explained his plan to fix the VA? Does he have a plan? Anything? He just appointed someone new, signed a single bill into law, problem solved, pat himself on the back, he made the VA great again.

He discussed Carrier during the campaign, and arranged to get Carrier to receive $7 million not to send jobs to Mexico. Yet how many people did Carrier lay off this week? 700?

You said I was distracted. I have two college degrees; I am not distracted by anything. (Also note this week I do not have any cable TV so I haven't even been watching that.) I am fully able to read the news and research everything. Trump's new budget wants to over 200 billion dollars to Medicaid and Social Security. LOL.

The end result is Congress has accomplished nothing in the past six months. Doesn't Congress go on recess shortly? And what about passing the budget?

America elected someone who has no idea what he is doing. He has clearly bitten off more than he chew. He is the most unpopular president in Baddog's lifetime.

The Department of Veterans Affairs has fired more than 500 employees since Jan. 20, when President Trump took office, according to a list of job categories of employees recently disciplined or fired....

?In the past, the VA was not straightforward on who they were disciplining and who they let retire,? said Dan Caldwell, director of policy for the Concerned Veterans for America, a grassroots veterans? advocacy organization. ?Often the VA would say someone was fired, and we?d find out later that employee was not fired, they were actually just suspended, demoted or had been allowed to retire before they could be fired.?

VA has fired 500 employees since Trump took office, report shows | Fox News

Quote:

In Shulkin?s five months on the job, the VA has been a whirlwind of activity:

The department announced last week that between President Trump?s inauguration and July 3, it had fired 526 employees, demoted another 27, and temporarily suspended another 194 for longer than two weeks.

In April, the department launched a new website that lets veterans compare the wait times at its facilities and view Yelp-style reviews of each facility written by previous patients.

Veterans Health Administration?s Veterans Crisis Line ? designed for those struggling with PTSD, thoughts of suicide, and other forms of mental stress ? is now answering ?more than 90 percent of calls within 8 seconds, and only about one percent of calls are being rerouted to a backup call center.? A year ago, an inspector general report noted that ?more than a third of calls were being shunted to backup call centers, some calls were taking more than a half hour to be answered and other callers were being given only an option to leave messages on voicemail.?

At the end of June, Shulkin unveiled the world?s most advanced commercial prosthetic limb ? the Life Under Kinetic Evolution (LUKE) arm ? during a visit to a VA facility in New York. Veteran amputees demonstrated the technology, a collaboration among the VA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the private sector. (The name alludes to the lifelike robotic hand that Luke Skywalker is fitted with in The Empire Strikes Back.)

In May, Shulkin said the department had identified more than 430 vacant buildings and 735 underutilized ones that cost the federal government $25 million a year. He said that most of the buildings are not treatment facilities and could profitably be closed or consolidated. Of course, if he actually attempted to close or consolidate some of the buildings, he might face a controversy along the lines of those touched off by military-base-closing announcements in recent decades.

David Shulkin & Department of Veterans Affairs: Reforms Coming Quickly | National Review

Quote:

"For the first time in the VA's history, Shulkin will allow veterans with a less than honorable military discharge to be able to access free mental health care services. "....

Shulkin is also tackling the gargantuan task of replacing the government's record system. He cited a public interest exception to federal contracting rules to give Cerner Corp. the job without competitive bidding. Cerner won the $4.3 billion Department of Defense contract in 2015.

"We are moving towards single electronic medical records with the Department of Defense," Shulkin said. This is to avoid having "two separate systems all with the same veterans electronic medical records in two systems."

Shulkin said he is also working with the DOD to get rid of the "transitional gap." He said the DOD puts servicemen and women through intense training when they enter the military. He believes veterans should get just as much training when they transition from a military life and into a civilian life.

Seems to me like there is zero change.

They fired five hundred people in the past six months? Well, being as the VA has 345k employees, I would imagine that happens every six months.

They signed a piece of paper allowing vets with a "less than honorable" discharge to get mental health care? That's a small policy change.

This new guy is "tackling" the problem of fixing their records system? That's something they've been doing since 2015.

Thanks for confirming to me that you are utterly ridiculous. You are pissed he hasn't fixed the VA. His head of the VA has made a lot of changes and progress in 6 months, and you are pissed its not fixed already. Getting Vets that need mental health treatment is a small change so why bother right? Getting Vets calling the suicide line on the phone within 8 seconds is a bad thing too I am sure.

What should be fixed and already gone 6 months in Rochard? Let's hear your plan. You've become a sad, hateful man.

What changes has he made? He appointed someone new, who made a single policy change, they had average turn over for a government agency of that size, and they continued to work on fixing the record keeping program which started in 2015 under the last administration.

You want to hear my plan?

We can start with opening up new locations. This was something Trump promised during the campaign. Has there been a study to determine where most of the vets are located, and what locations would be best? Is there a list of prior VA locations that were closed that could be re-opened again?

Why are we spending years writing some custom records keeping system? Do you honestly mean to tell me there isn't something we can just start using? I am pretty sure there is. You are talking about healthcare, and we have hundreds of millions of people who have healthcare? Trump promised to cut through the red tape and here is a perfect opportunity to do just that.

Why haven't they come up with some of a rewards system for good employees? Seems to me let go of some of the bad ones, but this just creates more work for everyone else and pisses off the good employees.

Yes, it's great that they changed policy so that people with a less than honorable discharge can get mental health benefits. You are making sound like I think it's a bad thing, when I am not. It's a simple policy change. Why not allow vets with less than an honorable discharge to get medical benefits instead of just mental healthcare?

I am not pissed that the VA isn't fixed. I'm pissed that people think it's fixed when nothing at all has changed. The original problem with the VA was that vets weren't able to get timely healthcare. Has that been fixed? Nope. Instead they fired people while increasing the amount of people who get benefits.

They didn't fix the problem. They made the problem worse and then claimed they improved things.

Yes, that is what I am telling you. They are going to the DOD platform to speed up the process in fact. You have left the realm of reasonable expectations and timelines if you think they can just just take an out of the box platform and have it running already.

If these things you mentioned and he promised are not done or mostly done by Nov 2020, you got a gripe. But to be up in arms and dismissing progress in July 2017, 6 months in, is just absurd and unrealistic.

but again, no proof of anything, at all.

so basically anyone who had contact with a russian in trumps campaign was colluding.

I disagree. At the end of the day the VA is nothing more than a healthcare system. It's one of tens of thousands of healthcare companies - all of which have their own records systems. Every doctor, specialist, healthcare company, and hospital all use something similar. Surely they can find something that someone is already using, and modify it to work for them.

And it's not "six months in". This is a program started under Obama in 2015. And the VA will need another two years to finish it. Four years and god only knows how much money they will spent so they can create software that... Is already being used around the country by every doctor, hospital, and healthcare system, etc.

But that's not even the point. The point is Trump and his team are trying to put a positive spin on the VA when in fact they've done nothing. This was a pretty big part of his campaign, wasn't it? All they did was put someone new in charge, fired some people, and continued doing exactly what was being done before and said "Okay, problem solved". Meanwhile we still have vets waiting to get their appointments.

I am so not watching a forty minute press briefing.

Isn't there a list the Trump Administration has put out there explaining what they've done? You would think the Trump administration would be giving us daily updates on this - it's important, isn't it? Vets are dying waiting for an appointment. Isn't there something that can be done in the short term to fix this?

This is the problem with Trump. He talks big and makes big promises. Then he fails to deliver.

He told us he was going to repeal Obamacare on the first day. Six months later, hasn't happened.

He told us he had a secret plan to defeat ISIS. "I know better than the generals" he told us. Hasn't done jack shit.

Trump sure does have a lot of attorneys though doesn't he?

thatīs exactly what i do.
when i go to bed in the night i fist watch the news from 3 different german channels, after that from swiss and austrian tv and the last thing i watch are CNN, fox news, BBC and aljazeera.

and i often wonder how one and the same news can sound so different.

but what i see more and more is that even fox news getting a bigger problem every day to let trump look good somehow.
sometimes arguments sound to me like "yes he shit in his pants but the pants are golden and handmade from american coal workers wich obama left alone and we are sure that hillary deleted an email where she wanted to initiate third worldwar with someone from the kennedy clan and a liberal voter who have pissed on a church......"

at the end nobody remembers that he shit in his pants. this rhetoric was perfectionate by goebbels and it is SOO obvious for everyone who knows even a little bit about brainwash rhetoric.

here i found a quite good written article on that topic.

if there's one thing I can guarantee you, then that they are not the same person.

we may disgree here and there on political issues but Axeman is a respectable, real person.
