So is porn going to be filtered for good? That is the question...

The Porn Nerd 11-22-2017 07:58 AM

So this means everyone's sales and revenues are down for the past few months?

Thanks Google! :(

When did Google cared about anyone else??

femdomdestiny 11-22-2017 02:30 PM

if you were targeting keywords like the PORN and was ranked on the first page, then you already made enough money so you don't care what happens next.

Tell that to XVideos and Pornhub.
I'm sure they care VERY much what happens next.

Fiddy porn filters

Barry-xlovecam 11-22-2017 07:05 PM

I am more interested if Google is disappointing the user and was the user will do in reaction. In other words; What will the user do as an alternative to Google (if he does that) and where might he go to find his porn?

Obviously. you would want to be in that place to present your offers to the user (outside of the Google *economy*) in this event (if it will happen).

Despite popular believe, PORN keyword is not that profitable.

Question for everyone. Have you noticed that your Google search results are different when you search for your sites from different locations?. At home, my search results show some of my sites on the top of page 1. When I search from another location, they are on page 2. Weird to say the least.

Yes, noticed... a few years ago.

Big Data -- the CTR rate of the SERPs from different geo-locations influences the the *secret* Google SEO algorithm.

It's a CONSPIRACY!!! :laughing-

As well as location there's also the filter bubble effect, where Google will show you more of the results it thinks you want to see, based on your past responses to searches.

Yes this why I think porn webmasters will see porn results. It's not just based on your searches but also your browsing behavior.

Try doing searches for porn via a proxy and see what you get.

LOL, a lot of porn webmasters probably browse less porn than the average guy.

LOL So true!

But I know I do a lot of checking on my own sites so maybe that's a factor?
When I do simple searches like 'MILFs' and 'blowjobs' I get 85% porn results from my own machine.

When I do the same searches via a proxy I get wild results, anywhere from 40% to 5% porn results.

Definitely less than what I get from my machine in my office.

You can bypass personalized search results by opening a private browsing window. When I'm checking SERPs I do this because otherwise my sites rank higher than they should because Google thinks I like them cuz I check them all the time.

This won't remove location- and device-specific behavior, however.

Hi everyone,

As title says, have you noticed that since middle of September (when there was an update from Google) the adult related searches are filtered hard? Also not to mention shitload of results with Google Books, wtf is that.

As result, the organic traffic has decreased dramatically everywhere (me and others).

Unless there are special keys like "fucking", "porn", it is quite hard to get adult results. For example, keyword "sex" seems to be filtered almost completely, regardless of phrase used.

I've attached an image with search results for adult terms, page 2 in Google.com, showing irrelevant results of Google Books between adult results:

imgur.com/a/986ej

Thoughts, rumours?

It's been like this for a few years now, that you have to use very specific adult keyword in many searched phrases to get an adult results.

Yeah using google.co.uk for words like porn and i think the first porn site you see is actually position 8 wtf. The big tubes that were strong enough to be on the first page for single words like "porn" must be taking a hit traffic wise.

no they do not want to disappoint but want to teach them how google works.

this semantic thing is years old and it became a bigger and bigger issue. but the users learned with the time how to get what they want by defining their searches.

if you look now in example in the video search (where it is clear what you want when you search for porn) you will see that it did not effect the video searches.
but here the big tubes with the embed videos will be the winner and not the crappy sites what just embed content from 3rd party.

content is still king - and not the content from a 3rd source - the OWN content.

why should google list 100.000 embed tubes before the original ?

99% of adult internet sites are copies or affiliate sites what are promoting others. why should google show the way from los angeles to new your by going over paris?

google looks more and more on the value for the user and they started that LONG ago while the industry still was discussing SEO fairytales they got the important information already from the user himself.

this will not be the end of porn but low quality will have no longterm chance in that game.

but also this happend before.

what do you think showed up 15 years ago on the search "livecams" ?

and this is just one of the phrases what is gone over the years.

porn is a big key but it generates just 20% of the existing porn traffic.

extend it with whatever second key and you see the porn results again - do you think users will not find that out ?

windstorm 11-24-2017 04:45 AM

I don't get what value user gets from Google books in adult search terms? I have posted in the original message what it shows for pure adult term search:

imgur.com/a/986ej

Yes, semantics has changed, you need to refine searches now to get actual adult content, but where's the quality when after big tubes, you get sites redirecting, Google books and news sites?

For my own site, if I search for domain key(pure adult term, unique made), after my site I see 3-4 results in top 10 with Google Books.

bns666 11-24-2017 05:21 AM

yeah way too many google books results for various terms

Barry-xlovecam 11-24-2017 07:28 AM

'porn' as a freestanding word is a lousy keyword.
Most of my searches today are long tail but they are for things not related to the adult segment -- technical things usually (coding and software). But even on those type (SFW) searches I often get useless Google Books SERPs on the first page --Why?

If I can't copy and paste the important ideas or code snippits as my 'research' notes what good is the website?

Bottom line I refine my search terms to use more specific phraseology.

Same is true about porn -- you have to clarify your intent. Vicarious v. Moral or Legal Issues mostly. that is why the single keyword porn is bad for search. Adapt or die.

Google is brain dead these days.

windstorm 11-24-2017 09:44 AM

On the other hand, speaking of adult niche, if Google makes the search impossible for adult keys, then I prefer to go to Bing. Sure, Bing isn't perfect too, but makes life easier to find what I want.
From what I searched in past Google updates, there was at some point a period when Google Books were in top of searches, because they had few backlinks and Google was pushing them up in top along with low quality sites in order to filter them afterwards.

This is the usual practice, I've seen in many updates, low quality/bad sites etc pushed up between good sites in order to get filtered with next update. But I see now that update is kept on waiting list. That's the only explanation I have, otherwise that would be completely stupid from Google to do so. Google Books have zero value, that's clear.

Barry-xlovecam 11-24-2017 10:04 AM

As webmasters, I think we are a bit subjective about the quality of our own work. Google has always huffed and puffed but gets gamed constantly for years.

I see what you are talking about as being a disruption pain point in *searchengineland* and an opening for disruptive innovators.

If there was a good quality adult explicit interest search engine, one that was impartial and not some affiliate advertising crap, I think it could gain traction.

However, adult explicit interest is a relatively small market segment and one that VC's are not interested in as an adult explicit interest platform is not going to garner any real IPO payoff. It would be a straight equity ownership (private stock) investment from the start.

Bing is not really the solution but if Bing gets more porn traffic it is a good thing for now.

windstorm 11-24-2017 10:19 AM

There is also another issue noticed: porn monopoly. For many keys that I have searched, the big tubes are shown on first page, but from 2d page and so on, 90% shown are sfw results or random crap(as always Google books etc).

If Google only knows to show the big tubes, what's the point in using it for that? Just make a bookmark list of all the big tubes and that's it, all tubes have search tool inside. It ceases to be a helpful tool for what user wants. People tend to get bored of repetitive content, they will want something more special. Tubes can't offer that, they offer only amounts.

In the end, me like other webmasters, will adapt to situation. The goal is to offer quality content and more unique to surfers. We will adapt with traffic from Bing, duckduckgo etc, at least there is more stability there at the moment.

the point is that google reacts on usage and this is not a new issue it is just not blown out loud from the SEO bizzers because that means that you do not need them anymore.

on top of that google is showing individual results since YEARS (must be at least 10) what you simply can check by makeing a search, after that close the browser, delete all cookies from google and related (or better ALL) then open a private browser window and do the same search again and you will be astonished what you see than.

I was investigating this issue for years and could see how much more importance google gave on indivisual searches, holding time, pages viewed, jump off rate, links followed and all that stuff. additionally google is a machine and have to understand the logic of a page and itīs structure.
if i see how many pornsites still have tags like "grandma" or "socks" i donīt know how few knowledge about search engines is really around.

i really know many webmasters and their work but I can tell you that only this 0,01% of them who really did understand the thinking of google are the ones what make still A LOT of money. in fact those guys make MUCH more now as in the time when it was easier to fool google with links and other stuff what used the weakness of the algorythm.

windstorm 11-24-2017 11:20 AM

Interesting that all big tubes gained huge in October, right after mid September update. For example, pornhub went from 2B to 3.4B visits / month (according to Similar Web). Huge! So again, if I am searching from a product in Google and all I get in G is amazon links in top 10, where is the point of G then?

I am pretty sure if Facebook/Amazon made own search engine, Google would be fucked big time. Google made deals with Apple, Mozilla and others to use by default their search engine. That means they are not that sure users would follow Google that much.
