... and just to add, a de facto relationship is pretty stong in australia too, I think if you share the same house with your fiance for more than 6 month the law treats you almost like beeing married anyway ... hahaha ... you are fucked either way I guess !!

I don't know about other countries...but, in the USA....you would be considered 'common law' married...since you're together for almost ten years, you've got kids..and you meet much of the criteria for marriage.

On a more business like note, married people get better tax breaks and child deductions.

having never been married, i dont think i would ever want to be. living with someone would suit that area just fine. that piece of paper means NOTHING (look at divorce ratios; divorce converts better then most pay site memberhips!) cause if you love someone and want to be with them, you will be with that person no matter what and you wont let a piece of paper decide that.
