So lets split hairs, ok?
America is currently at war with North Korea
America was never at war with Vietnam.

Ground troops have zero to do with this discussion

Look it up and get back to me.

We can argue this all day long. We are not at war with anyone. A single bombing does not mean we are at war.

America is in fact currently at war with North Korea. This is because we signed an armistice, not a formal peace treaty.

We never declared war on Vietnam, but nearly three million US troops went to Vietnam and sixty thousand Americans died there. We sure do consider this a war.

We invaded Grenada but we surely do not consider this war.

We bombed Libya and also Syria, but no says the US was at war with Libya or Syria.

I define a war as an invasion, long term occupation, and thousands of American casualties. A single bombing is not a war.

there is no clear definition..in modern days it depends how you want to see it
just because you have no official troops :winkwink: on the ground..doesnt mean you are not actively engaging in behind the scene..would you consider cyber war for example as being in war? some could say the us is is in war since ww2 because behind the scenes it never stopped

Damn, the comforting privilege of defining “war” solely from the perspective of American privilege. You may not have considered Grenada a war, but I doubt the Grenadians thought that as foreign troops landed on their soil. And while you might dismiss U.S. actions against Iran as something less than warfare, I suspect the Iranians targeted by drone strikes, cyberattacks, and crippling sanctions have a very different understanding.

Funny how the definition shifts when you're not the one under fire. BTW, have you ever been under fire?

Cyberattacks are war. So was 9/11. Rochard’s stuck in the Cold War while the rest of us are dodging malware and missiles. History’s moving—he’s buffering.

9/11 was a terrorist attack, not a war.

It resulted in us invading Afghanistan, removing their government, and removing their government from power. Which is obviously a war.

By your definition... We are at war with Iran. And Syria, Libya, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Serbia, Bosnia, Sudan, Lebanon, Chad, and... Tunisia.

By your definition, not since ww2. You have no idea what war is, R. You have never experienced it when the bombs are falling. Your government called 9/11 a war and launched a "War On Terror ©2001 Richard Cheney".

At this stage "war" is just a way for the military industrial complex to continue to make oodles of money. Notice how all these "wars" are against tiny shithole countries (Iran included) with no possible way of retaliating, fighting back or winning?

It's not like America is taking on France, or Germany, or Russia, or China, with boots on the ground and the potential for millions to die. These "wars" are exactly what the military industrial complex love best and what Americans will accept because it never affects them directly: endless low level conflicts in far off places that produces billions in profits while maintaining America's scary big dog presence around the world.

This has been going on since the 1950's and President Eisenhower warned us against this but hey, whatever right? Party on!!

A reporter asks Trump whether he would be willing to bomb Iran again if it looks like it is enriching uranium to a concerning level. Trump says, “Absolutely.”

Rochard. Seriously. You don't think this is a war?

what people forget, every time somewhere in the world is destroyed, the restructure is new, so the creation, the place originally bombed & already fucked, is now new & modern...

Iran ends up renewed & replaced, presently being renewed with new structure :2 cents:
