I had sales within a few hours of getting into the biz but then I got in during the pioneer days of the mid nineties when you could build an Adult Check site and get 10 sales from the link list the next day. Throw up some spam in the newsgroups and get another 10 sales.

Update - My progress since doing this shit.

I will start at April 1st since that is when I actually starting making shit and stopped TGP's almost entirely.

That is 20 weeks ago.

Which means I should be at about $2352 per week.

Last week I had a bumper crop for $2549 and this week is looking like $2283 or so. This week sucked on Monday and Tuesday. I might as well have not even been here.

2 weeks ago I did $2260 so averaged out I am at par with what I should be doing to make about $12,000K a month easy by years end.

This month I will be just under $10K... Next month I should be able to post the 10K post with some pics ;)

There are tons of ways to get traffic to whatever it is you're pushing. He just took out one as an example.

From personal experience when starting from scratch $ 300 in the first week is a realistic figure I did more then that before.

You forgot to say how much start up cash?

It can vary depending on what you're starting out with, but even with a big fat zero for a budget you can do this.

Hosting: use sponsor freehosting
Traffic: submit your ass off

The only true investment you always require is time.

$54 Total start up.

Since then,

$300 Hosting (I need IP's not BW)
$72 Domain Names

Approx. $306 a month... To make $9600 gross...

A few observations:
Yes - it can be done - and is being done - as RicardoB posted you have to think a little outside the box and stop thinking that everything is cut and dry - TGPs and LLs are not the only place to get traffic.

There are also tricks to keeping the LL traffic steady without the die factor at 6 months - although you will get a boost the first day of listing - that is usually not the buying traffic - if you read the rules at LLs you will find a way :) (as put so eloquently before - hint hint)

If you really learn how to sell - which is all free sites are for - then the money will come - take a look at how people advertise in newspapers, magazine etc - you will get the answer to how to build "selling" free sites.

One disagreement - do not use sponsor hosting - most of the major Linklists will add you to their blacklists as soon as they figure out you are using it - just a fact. Pay for a virtual account.

Content - Do not use sponsor content - it lessens (and usually blocks) your chances of getting listed or will drop you down to the lowest listings - buy some content - its only $5 a set these days from the better content providers and again - Most of the good traffic Linklists are not accepting sponsor content anymore.

Last - but definitely not least - after youve built that site a day - spend another hour every day learning/reading/consuming everything you can find about search engines - they will become your best friend by the end of 6 months

My second week was over $3000. Alas, that was years ago. I did however start from scratch after 6 months off and I would have quit if I didn't make over $140 my first week. :1orglaugh

BTW : I think it is easier to make hard cash with SEO sites of famous programs (like adultfriendfinder or bangbros)

For example SEO pages of typos of adult friend finder:

Example :

259 adult finde friend (july 2005) (overture searche | so google searches is X8 : 2k seaches)

search for adult friend finde in google :

normal : 52 200 pages
allintitle : 84 !!!
allinurl : 24 !!!

make a SEO page with the multiple keywords adult friend finde.

So you could make a page that goes top 5 in google.

Let's count 20 % of those searches will reach you if you are top 5

400 visits a month : your page is about adult friend finder and the person who end up at your page is also looking about adult friend finder so mostlikely you will get some good conversions.

and this is for 1 typo make 50 typo pages like that of adult friend finder or other heavy searched programs (brangbros, milfhunter, ...) and you will be making hard cash

That's the way I make the most of my cash hope I gave some tips :)

teleblade69 - first off - that free site needs a lot of work to be listed on most link lists - here's what I saw right off the bat that would get it declined:

the use of a FPA as a banner on every page will not sell anything - and will get you declined almost everywhere.

Your text uses the word ENTER for a sponsor link - that would get you declined

the main page is the same as the warning page - you even left the enter link on it - instant decline

your mouseovers on the links are messed up - another reason for decline

That content sucks - that is the worst looking pics of a tranny Ive seen in a really long time - you should get some of Sunnys content to use - they have some nice sets that isnt overused and make the thumbs a little larger

Change your exit link to google dot com - instead of the dot be - if you are going to send google free traffic

Overall - you need to forget the graphics - and make up some text that will sell - using the same fpa (which usually is an instant decline anyway) throughout will just get your surfers clicking back out
take a look at some of the large LLs and look at the sites that do get accepted - they will give a good indication of what will fly

As for content... If you are selling a membership to Tawnee Stone you will need pics of guess who? Tawnee Stone. So buying content often isn't an option. Though Lightspeed will give you access to semi-exclusive content (meaning if you are one of the few affiliates who actually ask for it, you are a step above the other idiots).

Buying content for something like Sunny Dollars tranny sites... I'd just ask them the same question, can I get someone that isn't in your webmaster area and can she/he be hot?

I often thought about trying that, thing for me would be the topic?
It would be difficult for me to stay motivated & interested if I didn't like the topic. The other concern would be knowledge on the particular topic & also if the traffic seeking that topic can be monetized.

I have interests in particular things, but not so certain they can be profitable.

Keep on keepin on. Consistency, smart evolution, and constant effort always wins out in the end.

just off free sites? i don't know, the traffic isn't what it used to be. by which im not talking quality but quantity...but i guess the quality is typically better than tgps. but just check out another board that focuses on linklists and it seems like there are many people there who submit daily and don't make much of anything.

if it was that easy everyone would be making $10k/month which we all know is not the case...

thats a simple, good plan you have there. Along the same lines you don't need to make all your money doing one thing, you can make 5 sales from 10 - 15 different things.

I had some awesome results.
All the free sites i use get listed in a few days
And been that way for about 6 months now. I guess they love the revenue they make from adsense:1orglaugh

My tip is make blogs and actually write text. Each entry should target one or two keywords, and be over 300 words. It takes time, but it's worth it folks. Forget about rss2blog, in the long run, unique content wins out.

You can say that again. Every tip helps. Don't know how it would apply to a cartoon site like mine but it's nice to see the various successful strategies others use.

As in you speed up or you just happen to find favor with a particular SE and hit bonus months which I did over and over again.

BTW... When I say free sites I don't mean 2 galleries a front page and submitting to link lists... To find out what I mean you can easily do some digging.

All of my traffic is SE traffic.

Most of my linking is within my own network.
