Ive been using the computer associates antivirus http://home3.ca.com/Microsoft/ for two years now with pest patrol and I've not had a single malware on my PC since that time. I bought the version with Pest Patrol. I look at traffic trades and gallery submissions reglularly so I have been exposed to most of that shit out there.

the very sad truth is that the people many of these companies(adware, malware, etc) promote... allow them too. I can't even count how many times I hunted people down, the programs they promoted, thier codes etc.... notified the programs about it... and as always, 90% never replied, the ones that did only said we shall look into it, but would not give me a name.... i wanted the name because the reason my machine got screwed up is because i was looking at affiliate sites and needed to know who... too many programs only care about thier sales and if this crap gets them 2 a day, they are good with it... it's unfortunate... I believe in the long term, not quick sale and this hurts us all and ban a person who brings in any amount of sales for crap like this

come on guys... we all know, the reason they do it is money... and they get it from sponsors who turn thier heads... and many of us know who they are

It can be a bit of a pain in the ass to get used to, but well worth it at times.

What's your beef with Mac? A lot of viruses and exploits are made specifically for Windows and IE, while totally ignoring Mac OS and the Safari browser! It'd be dumb to dismiss the idea.

In any case, Vendzilla: it's horrible that this happened. I've had a few meltdowns back in the day. It's the reason I back up my stuff as much as possible. I even have a backup image of my hard drive in case I need to wipe and restore. Even in the best of conditions, it'd be a pain to restore, but it cuts through a lot of bullshit. Soon as you fix up your laptop and have it set up just the way you like it, make an image with a backup program (I used Norton Ghost, but there's a ton of them out there.)

LOL...I own 2 macs, no beef

I just get sick of people suggesting someone change their entire computer platform, buy new computers and disrupt their workflow over a virus or spyware...like macs don't have their issues too...I have 2 macs and I get my share of crashes and shit happening with them
