$160 a week.... now

Though we were spending around $800 a week 5 months ago due to alcohol, and not giving a shit about the price of veges and meat. Since we gave a shit its fallen significantly. I am ashamed of the waste we had before :(

oceania 10-14-2008 09:20 AM

2adults 1 teenager 1 college kid and 2 dogs
about $250 week

Doctor Dre 10-14-2008 09:20 AM

About 100/150 a week, for 1 person with guests once in a while.

BradM 10-14-2008 09:25 AM

I never liked cooking because I didn't have the tools.
For the last 4 years I have spent $1,500 a month without fail on food. Eating out 2-3 times a day etc.

I finally cracked down and the last 2 months I've spend 125 a week on average. Though the bill will go down next month because I stockpiled meat on sale, and from costco + pasta. So in reality it will probably work out to around $80-100

Tom_PM 10-14-2008 09:26 AM

If I spent $100 every two weeks it's because I LOADED down the cart and bought soda and beer, which is not too often. So I dunno, $50 maybe per week for myself.

Monique Niccole 10-14-2008 09:30 AM

about $160 for 2 people at the supermarket plus about $20 at the farmer's market where I buy most of my fruits and vegetables.

mrwilson 10-14-2008 09:31 AM

About 60-70$ give or take a few $

Sid70 10-14-2008 09:32 AM

grocery? well, we mostly shop at supermarket and malls, let it be grocery LOL, for 4 people family it cums to about $200 a week.

PlugRush Sascha 10-14-2008 09:32 AM

2 adults + 1 child + 2 cats + 2 birds

I'm sure we spend $300+ a week. I usually eat meat at least once a day (usually more like 2-4 times) and I don't like to eat crap, so it costs more.

That doesn't include going out to eat, which I don't like to do often.

CS-Jay 10-14-2008 09:54 AM

My girlfriend buys, so I have no clue on what she spends.

Rochard 10-14-2008 10:04 AM

$120 for three of us per week..... That includes two pets, lunches for the kid, plus snacks....

My wife has it down to an art.... She shops a lot at Big Lots. She bought these noodles from Big Lots the other day - Big fat noodles in beef sauce with peas and carrots. For thirty cents it's an entire meal for lunch. She also shops at some $1 store, and then every now and then a trip to Wal Mart.

Groceries are what I (and most people I know) call the food they buy to cook with for the week. Yes, they are often bought from a supermarket. What do you call them?

Imortyl Pussycat 10-14-2008 12:12 PM

$150/week for me and my daughter.

webgurl 10-14-2008 12:14 PM

i eat out alot with my b/f , business partner etc...
so about 5-600 a week easy ...

captain.g 10-14-2008 01:40 PM

I spend less than $200 a month, minus beer, for me a dog, bird, and some fish. I have a co-op organic garden with a few friends and we don't end up buying much veggies. I also hunt a lot and don't have too many friends that eat meat so I can make one elk and one deer last most of the year. I have been working towards self sustainable living.

TubeTitans_SusieQ 10-14-2008 01:42 PM

I spend about 200 a month on groceries my self, but its about a quarter of that if i go out for a night.

L-Pink 10-14-2008 02:16 PM

No, I really was curious to know if there is a different term some people use. Like, I would never think about going food supply shopping at a mall. That is for clothing and the like for me. So, I was just curious about how language is used in different places.

bausch 10-14-2008 04:42 PM

Probably around anywhere from $70-$100 and that's for one person and the thing is that I don't even finish all of it most of the time. Certain weeks I only spend like $60.... That doesn't include eating out though. I eat out a lot.

I don't eat meat except fish/shrimp and I don't eat a lot in general. I'm not on a diet, it's just that I'm a small person and I can't fit a lot of food in my stomach, I can get full after eating just one slice of bread with some cheese and coffee... I'm not a gluttonous pig.

I mainly shop at Trader Joe's... for example if I buy $13 worth of wild salmon that will last me like 3-4 days.... Most people are pigs and don't eat the correct portions and eat too much junk food. I am very particular about what I put inside my body. I don't eat just anything. I also don't buy liqour and don't buy frozen shit. I only eat fresh now.

Nicky 10-14-2008 04:54 PM

If eating out is counted I'd say ~$150 a week for my self. No alcohol included.

ExLust 10-14-2008 05:56 PM

$50-60 a week

You not only eat at In and Out, eat fries animal style, you also eat ice cream and other crap so please. When was the last time you ate fresh ice cream?
Also please explain the whole to much junk food, let alone what a correct portion of animal style fries are?

tony286 10-14-2008 06:09 PM

Guessing the word "send" equals "said".
You asking how can people spend less than 75 for more than one person a week?

I have a high metabolism, I am blessed genetically, I can eat as much as I want and not get fat, I also have good cholesterol even though I eat a lot of fattening foods. Most americans are not as lucky as me, they can eat one half of what I eat and still be obese.

I eat In N out but I don't eat frozen food at the grocery store... I only eat it once in awhile now.

I can eat as much In N out as I want though because I don't gain weight so I don't have to watch it. The other big people do...

About $200 a week, for 1 person. Basically, ?20 a day.

PurrrsianPussyKat 10-14-2008 06:33 PM

Probably about $200. That's for 2 adults and 2 kids. I dont buy pet food at the grocery store. That's like feeding your animals doritos.

My 2 kids go through a gallon of milk a day. :(

shermo 10-14-2008 06:33 PM

About $200 a week for my wife and I at Trader Joes, and maybe another $200 a week at restaurants for dinners. We still like to have "dates" to keep it fresh. :)

The Vegetarian/Fish only diet can be pricey..Especially when you go with all fresh foods.

Adam_M 10-14-2008 06:35 PM

Around $350 to $400 a week for a family of four plus eat out a few times a week.

Depends where you live too.

Regardless of that it is possible to eat two people on $75 a week and eat decent food, if you cook all your own meals. I'd have a hard time since I like ~2 restaurant visits a week though.

Sly 10-14-2008 06:40 PM

I probably do about $300 a month.

Eating cheap is easy. Plus it usually tastes better and is better for you.

MissMina 10-14-2008 07:30 PM

Anywhere from $200.00 to $350.00 a week. Four people. We are foodies. And everyone has their own special stuff they like to eat.
