About $150/week....mostly for two of us.

Shey 10-14-2008 08:57 PM

Just getting used to spending for 1 again but I'd say around $60 a week. Then again, I do mostly buy imported stuff (living in Manila) so it gets pricey. I eat out around 2-3 times a week too so tack on another $50 for good restaurants. Not bad really.

I know the locals here can feed a family for about $30/week but I'm not really into local food hehe...

Four of us here. We try to keep it under $300 Australian.

Their food hall is really nice and I would shop their if it wasn't so expensive and only carried their own brands. The only people that I see doing actual weekly shops there are yuppie types and old women.

Corleone 10-15-2008 04:01 AM

usually eating out.. :) maybe 50 a week

Antonio 10-15-2008 04:20 AM

probably around $300 PER MONTH, and that's with eating out etc

I shop daily, my fridge is empty 99% of the time unless I'm expecting guests, makes me walk more and eat less

Oracle Porn 10-15-2008 04:24 AM

wow guys i have no idea how the hell some of you spend so little
me and my gf spend around $300/week + EATING OUT which is around another $150 a week for both of us so $450 on food weekly for 2 ppl!

Darkhorse 10-15-2008 04:31 AM

Around 200 a week (including takeout) thats 2 adults and 2 kids, I take lots of time shopping getting specials ect ect...

viroman 10-15-2008 06:50 AM

Little side note since some asked how people could do it for under 75.00 a week to maybe make some people think.

In California at least the state only gives families 21.00 per person per week. That is 3.00 a day or 1.00 a meal if they eat 3 meals a day. I learned this after participating in the hunger challenge the San Fransisco food bank did with recipes etc. I.E. try eating for a week or longer on that budget. Was sort of a wake up call to me, and really makes me rethink everything my parents had to deal with when I was a kid and us on welfare. Wife and I did the challenge for a full month. That was a serious learning lesson.

I've been on a bulking diet for the last 6 months or so. Roughly $120 for just myself, and that's me shopping like a cheapskate. :2 cents:

To give you an idea, I eat 6-7 meals a day. I go shopping twice a week, I usually get lean chicken in bulk, lean steak in bulk, beef jerky, tons of canned tuna, swiss/cottage cheese, just a couple single frozen meal dinners, brown rice, wheat bread, precooked chicken fillets from the deli, salmon or tuna steaks, milk, fresh veggies, fruits, flax seeds and oats.

That doesn't include the money I spend on supplements. :Oh crap Preworkout supps every month that cost me about $50, casein / whey protien shakes every 2 weeks cost about another $50, amino acid matrix, l glut, glucosamine cost another $50 bucks or so a month.

Does that answer your question? My diet is fucking expensive.

Are you body-building or just planning on getting fat?

Groceries, about $250 a week.. for a household of 5.
Our 3 boys are still young, oldest is almost 6. So my guess is we'll be spending this a DAY in about 10 more years.

~Ray 10-15-2008 09:55 AM

about $20 to $30 a day ... so roughly $200 per week
