I was inquiring more from a legal standpoint although personally I would not have taken a swing at him unless he attempted to swing at me which I did not see him do. I think some people act tough and often get in peoples faces with no intention of physically attacking but rather just hoping to intimidate and that the other will back down. Once they try and throw the first punch however, their true intentions are revealed and its time to defend and disable.

I haven't seen that video before. The pimp is a coward for hitting the woman and he deserved what he got, legal or not.

BTW : The knife didn't dropped me and I wrapped that guy's ass in a knot.
In fact I didn't even know I was stabbed until I got home and dropped my pants to
take a piss and saw my white cotton underwear was completely soaked in red blood.
I was thinking, damn that was a good punch this guy threw because I still feel it.
Didn't even notice the second stab wound on my side until the doctor started
stitching that one.

A lesson learned, I won't learn again, I'm all about the teaching now.

The key point here is that they guy used "Reasonable Force" to stop the attack.

In the eyes of the law, if you feel you are in danger you can use "reasonable force" to defend yourself. The Karate instructor only took one shot and kept the PIMP from striking him.

Had he continued to beat the guy down and pummel him then he would be in trouble.

Ok, was always curious about the legal considerations of reacting in such a situation. While the PIMP did not actually attack him I suppose the karate expert could say he felt he was in danger for whatever reason when the PIMP got up in his face or maybe the PIMP said something to him to indicate impending harm. Anyway, funny video!
