how could you have no money if you have sites worth 7 figures? Dont they generate income?

BradM 06-29-2009 09:37 PM

Before you sell, stay on top of things.... like any emails trying to buy ad space. And hit up anyone who has ever bought in the past. You could still run this thing.

sexdatesj 06-29-2009 09:37 PM

Stile.

I am interested in your site.

stile 06-29-2009 10:40 PM

the story is my programmer who is pretty much my biz partner got an offer from the largest tech company out there after microsoft. he helped program freebsd and they want him to do something specific for them. i can't get into details.. all i can said is that i really can't see myself running my site with out the guy. he's my best friend and has been doing it with me for 9 years through thick and thin.

So are you buying him out since he's your partner or is he just walking away and leaving you with 100% of the profits?

NETbilling 06-29-2009 11:35 PM

Stile,

We have done business together for many years and you are a straight up guy. You are smart and I am sure you are making the right decision that will make you happy. Let me know if you need anything.

Thanks, Mitch

it sounds to me like you want to cash out before things go down the shitter - which is fine, nothing wrong with that. i just don't think you're selling because you've lost or losing your programmer.

Man I was about to say the same thing... very strange that hes asking in the "7 figure range" but can't pay his programmer to stay? Hell with that kind of revenue, you can afford to keep him at low 6 figures?

Besides, with Google dancing a way different tune as of late, maybe now is the time to get the fuck out and cash out before the shit hits the fan. Nothing wrong with that. :2 cents:

95% of the time someone is selling a business is because it's not making profit or takes way too much effort to run.

Grisey 06-30-2009 02:23 AM

Sad to see you selling this ( i remeber when i first started in 2003 looking at this site) but i got to kinda agree with mutt. There is some really good programmers out there, i can't see why you couldn't just hire someone else.

Take a holiday and chill out for a week or 2

CunningStunt 06-30-2009 02:47 AM

Stileproject is an icon.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

Sounds to me like you just need a very good programmer who you can go into partnership with, and get over the break up of the existing one. You obviously still have the drive and enthusiasm for it all.

Or, as others have said, get out now while it's still cooking with gas. To get into the top 2500 most visited sites on the web is nuts.

If it really hurts you to see your baby going - don't sell it. There are tons of good programmers out there.

If your programmer, who has been with the site since the start, cared about everything so much he would not have left either. :2 cents:

Tim 06-30-2009 03:06 AM

End of an era! Good luck Stile :)

biskoppen 06-30-2009 03:31 AM

Jack Sparrow 06-30-2009 06:24 AM

That means: No traffic to sell to still by me anymore.

Sad sad sad day :(

grumpy 06-30-2009 07:01 AM

smutx 06-30-2009 07:08 AM

RadicalSights 06-30-2009 07:33 AM

People who talk about how much $ they have are usually poor.

TheSenator 06-30-2009 08:07 AM

I use to promote CamWhores when they billed with GloBill. I made some decent cash until GloBill pulled the plug.

Good Luck and Bye to the StileProject.

Octopus 06-30-2009 08:07 AM

good luck with the sale

good luck with the sales, but 7 figures in today's market is a bit too high.

pornguy 06-30-2009 12:27 PM

Selling that would be the mistake of a life time.

Bring on a partner and let him run a big portion of the day to day. Gives you a bit more free time. Make some cut backs in other areas and with the saved money invest in the new things that you want to do.

With things tight now days companies that you have been doing business are more willing than ever to rework those deals so they dont lose you. I bet you could drop 10 to 15% of the hosting if you tried.

That can equate to a BOAT load of money to put into the other ideas that you have.

Good luck. DONT sell.

stile 06-30-2009 12:28 PM

wow i have 40 offers sofar... this is nuts.
